Darumaka was caught with ease, it didn't struggle to escape from the ball or anything. The creature was clearly worn out from the battle, and now it could get a lot of much needed rest, similar to Starmie.

Right after it was caught Sara picked up the ball, and placed it on her belt, she then turned to me, smiled, and said, “there were some issues with poachers disguising themselves as Trainers, and after catching several Pokemon they’d run off with all of them instead of the allowed three,” I told him. “As a result, the Head Ranger made a rule that Rangers are to carry any captured Pokemon until the Trainer decides to leave, at which point they’ll pick the ones they want to take with them. So don’t worry, I’m not trying to steal the little guy or anything.”

I chuckled a little, and replied with, "no need to explain, I know you don't intend to steal from me, I've been through here enough to know that by now. All you rangers seem to be good, honest people, so I trust you."

Sara then took the time to look at her Pokemon again. Zorua seemed to be very enthusiastic, and Floatzel seemed to just shake its head, I couldn't help but laugh at the nature of Pokemon sometimes, and this was one of those times.

Sara looked back at me, and asked, "you wanna go up the path for now, or start going through the cave network?"

"I think I'd prefer to go up the path now," I replied to her, but before she had a chance to reply I also added, "I also have this Litwick Voice Disc I'd like to attempt to use along the way, who knows I might be able to attract the little thing to me," I said as I pulled my PokePlayer out, and put my Litwick Voice Disc in it.

"I think I'd prefer to go up the path now. I also have this Litwick Voice Disc I'd like to attempt to use along the way, who knows I might be able to attract the little thing to me," Eric told me, pulling forth a PokePlayer and a purple Voice Disc. He popped the small disc into the Player and then hit the Play button; a moment later a lilting, somewhat haunting cry issued from the Player. It wasn’t the normal speech of a Litwick, but more of a primitive ululation, the kind of bestial noise an animal would make to call it pack or herd together. The point of recording these cries was to lure Pokemon to the source, who would come to investigate the cry in some cases.

The cry echoed for a few moments before fading away completely. No Litwick appeared, though, and I shrugged at the young man as I started towards the path leading up the mountain.

“Usually Litwick live further inside the mountain, so I’m not surprised none came to have a look around. You might have better luck inside the caves, or maybe a bit higher up where it’s hotter.” I motioned to the volcano and added, “Generally they don’t come out until it gets a bit darker, being Ghosts and all, but there’s a specific cave farther up that, if you stand a few feet in, you might be able to lure out a Litwick. That cave has peculiar ventilation, so it’s pretty hot. The Litwick love it so they congregate around it, even during the day sometimes.”

I played the sound from the Litwick disc, but no Litwick appeared. It was a little bit disheartening, I had came on this run with Litwick being one of the specific Pokemon that I was looking for. I wasn't going to have this minor setback keep me down though, there were still other things I wanted too.

As Sara started taking me up the path she told me something, “usually Litwick live further inside the mountain, so I’m not surprised none came to have a look around. You might have better luck inside the caves, or maybe a bit higher up where it’s hotter. “Generally they don’t come out until it gets a bit darker, being Ghosts and all, but there’s a specific cave farther up that, if you stand a few feet in, you might be able to lure out a Litwick. That cave has peculiar ventilation, so it’s pretty hot. The Litwick love it so they congregate around it, even during the day sometimes.”

"Is that so?" I asked. "Well if that is the case I'll be sure to try my voice disc out again when its a better chance of attracting one. In the meantime though lets see what else waits for me, I'm curious to see what I will run into," I said as I turned to Ambipom, and smiled.

I was feeling good, and motivated. I had already captured a Darumaka, and I was able to keep Starmie from taking too much damage, more importantly though I was having fun, and was enjoying the idea of thinking what might be in store for me throughout the remainder of this trip.

"Is that so? Well if that is the case I'll be sure to try my voice disc out again when it’s a better chance of attracting one. In the meantime though let’s see what else waits for me, I'm curious to see what I will run into," Eric commented, seemingly a nit more heartened now than he’d first been when his Litwick Disc failed to attract any of the spectral candles. I smiled a little in encouragement as Eric glanced at his Ambipom, then motioned for them to follow me.

We went up the trail, Dagger keeping an intent eye on Kili as we went higher up. If she romped too close to the edge of the trail he’d give a short, snappy sounding bark, cautioning her she was straying towards danger. Kili, despite her youthful abundance of energy and young age, was quick to mind her father’s warnings when they were given. Eventually she decided it would be safer playing on the inner side of the trail, sticking close the mountain itself as we travelled upward.

At one point she flounced out of view around a sharp corner, causing Dagger to sigh and shake his head. Grumbling (most likely about how he should invest in a leash), the Floatzel dropped to all fours and started to trot after the little Zorua. He didn’t have a chance to get far before a startled, high-pitched yelp sounded out; a second later Kili came scrambling back into sight. She ran right into her father, making frightened yapping noises and huddling closer to him. Dagger instantly went into overprotective-parent mode, snatching his daughter up and standing on his back paws, drawing himself to his full height and letting out a vicious, angry snarl.

“Oh boy…” I muttered, a hand going to my belt where my other Pokemon were stored. If Kili had angered something like a Garchomp or a Onix, I would need to give Dagger a bit of backup in chasing it off. An enraged Pokemon was a danger not only to my Trainer, but my Pokemon and itself as well, especially considering how far up the trail we were now. The last thing we needed was for one of us to get knocked back to the ground below.

Before I had a chance to let out any of my other Pokemon, though, the offending Pokemon came into view. I blinked a little when it turned out to be nothing more than a Mgaby, albeit a very irked-looking one. The small red creature had an angered expression and its little paws were curled into tight fists; a small tail whipped the air behind it. Steam was rising from its nostrils, and its snout was curled in an irritated grimace. I had no idea what Kili had done to anger the little Baby Pokemon so much so quickly, but whatever she’d done had been more than effective.

Dagger, however, didn’t seem to care that it was just a Magby that had so frightened his daughter. Growling, he took two steps towards the smaller Pokemon and gave it a sharp smack on the top of its head, barking at it angrily before turning and stalking away from it. Magby, completely taken aback, simply stared in shock as it grabbed at its head.

“Well, that was anti-climactic…” I said, shrugging as I dropped my hand from my belt. Dagger busied himself with consoling his scared daughter while I faced Eric, adding, “If you’ve ever wanted a Magmortar or anything, Magby is as good a place to start as any.”

    OOC: No harm done

IC: Sara started leading us up the path, and as always me and Ambipom patiently followed, wondering what we would encounter next. Though before we got to anything again Zorua appeared to being its curious self again. Zorua went around at corner, but before long it could be heard letting out a yelp, and it came running back to Floatzel and Sara.

Sara reached at her belt, probably to pull out a Pokemon if needed to defend Zorua, but I couldn't help but think that this was my run, and if anything should come into sight, whether Zorua angered it or not, it should be my responsibility to deal with it. Within seconds the Pokemon that scared Zorua came into sight. It was just a little Magby, I couldn't help but wonder how it could have so easily scared Zorua.

Floatzel seemed to be mad that this Magby scared Zorua, it went right over and smacked it on its head. Floatzel then went on to growl at it, and walk away. I couldn't help but laugh a bit at this situation. “Well, that was anti-climactic…” Sara said, as she turned her focus back to Floatzel, and Zorua. “If you’ve ever wanted a Magmortar or anything, Magby is as good a place to start as any.”

"No thanks, I'm interested in some rarer stuff, so I'd like to try to run from this, and if we can't I made sure to bring plenty of Pokedolls along just in case," I said to Sara as I reached in my bag, ready to grab a Pokedoll if needed.

Eric decided he didn’t want to capture Magby, but the little Pokemon didn’t really seem to care. After its initial surprise from being smacked by Dagger, the little Pokemon scampered off hurriedly. I don’t know what Kili had done to make it so teed off so quickly, but apparently whatever she’d done didn’t make it mad enough to want to stand against an angry Floatzel. I watched it rush off into one of the caves and shook my head, glancing over at Dagger and Kili. The little Zorua seemed to have calmed down now, though when Dagger set her down she was much more cautious, not bounding ahead of us any longer.

“Well, I suppose we should-“ I started, only to cut myself off when a spiky brown ball came rolling out of the cave Magby had vanished into. After a moment it came to a rest, then uncurled itself and stood up, revealing itself to be a Sandslash. The Pokemon glared at us with small black eyes, and I heard a sort of laugh coming from the cave. I looked over and spotted Magby, a gloating look on its face as it laughed. Apparently the little bugger had fetched a friend to avenge it for being hit by Dagger. I sighed a little and turned my attention to Eric, telling him, “Well, this one might be a bit tougher to get away from. If you don’t want a Sandslash you might wanna toss one of those PokeDolls, because I don’t think we’re going to be able to just walk away from this one.”

Sandslash made an angry noise, confirming my suspicions. Dagger growled at it and Kili hunkered down between her father’s paws, staring intently at Sandslash. I couldn’t tell if she was afraid or just watching it from a safe place, but either way her attention was firmly on the larger Ground-type Pokemon.

OOC: Excuse the crappy post, not feeling so good atm so

IC: Magby left us alone, causing no trouble. I don't know if it had been startled because of Floatzel, or if it just didn't care to battle. I didn't mind either way, we were able to get away from it without me needing to use a Pokedoll. Granted I had ten of them on me, but still.

“Well, I suppose we should-" Sara started to say, before a brown ball with spikes on it came rolling into our view. Once it stopped rolling it revealed itself to be a Sandslash. It appeared to have some razor sharp claws, and pitch black eyes. As I busy focusing my attention on Sandslash, I couldn't help but notice Sara turn her attention elsewhere. I didn't think much of that though, if it had been something of importance she would have made it a point to let me know about it.

She turned her focus back to me and offered me a warning, “well, this one might be a bit tougher to get away from. If you don’t want a Sandslash you might wanna toss one of those PokeDolls, because I don’t think we’re going to be able to just walk away from this one.”

"I have bigger fish in mind to look for on this run, I don't want a Sandslash. But you're right, it would probably be best to throw a Pokedoll in this situation," I said to Sara, as I pulled out one of my Pokedolls. I liked being ready for any situation, even if that meant running, that's why I made sure to stock up on plenty of Pokedolls, just in case of stuff like this.

Sandslash was glaring balefully at Dagger when Eric pulled free a PokeDoll, which I took from him and proceeded to give it a shake. We’d been experimenting with special hormones that made Pokemon melt, much like a cat over high-quality catnip. After a few firm shakes to activate the hormone contained inside, I tossed the Doll over to where Sandslash was intently watching me. The moment the little Clefairy doll hit the ground, Sandslash pounced on it in an aggressive manner. After a moment or two, though, it had flopped onto its side and was playfully kicking the doll with its feet, clutching to its chest with its massive front claws.

“That should keep it busy for a while.” I said, wiping my hands together and glancing at the others. Dagger looked intrigued by the Doll, most likely catching a whiff of the hormones coming from it; Kili, being too young to be affected, simply gave a little growl that sounded more cute than threatening. I motioned for the others to follow and carefully moved around Sandslash, who was now oblvious to us, thank s to the PokeDoll in its lethal grip.

We moved farther up the trail, and as we went up a fine sheet of ash started to fall around us. Knowing this path well from many times of traversing it, I pointed out areas where the trail dipped or was otherwise uneven; many tripping and falling hazards were hidden under thick, fluffy piles of light gray ash, impossible to spot and dangerous if you didn’t know where they were. One misstep could sprain an ankle or cause one to topple off the path.

“It starts to get really rough about another half-mile up,” I told Eric after about ten minutes. “The path becomes scattered with stones and boulders, and the ash can make the trail slippery and at times completely covers it. If you’re willing to do a fair amount of serious hiking we can continue up the path to where it becomes more even again, or we could head inside into the mountain and hunt around some of the caves for some Pokemon.”

Sandslash seemed to be content with the Pokedoll, rather than a battle. Though Floatzel also seemed to have some interest in the Pokedoll too, though I had no idea why. Since Sandslash was now too distracted to care about us Sara started leading me further up the path.

As we continued along some ash started to fall on us. It was rather nice actually, it reminded me of snow in a way which was refreshing to think about in the heat at Mt. Deckbi. Along the way Sara made it a point to point out where exactly the trail was, making sure Ambipom, as well as myself, didn't get hurt.

“It starts to get really rough about another half-mile up. The path becomes scattered with stones and boulders, and the ash can make the trail slippery and at times completely covers it. If you’re willing to do a fair amount of serious hiking we can continue up the path to where it becomes more even again, or we could head inside into the mountain and hunt around some of the caves for some Pokemon," Sara told me to give me the option to pick which way we go.

"Lets head into the cave. It isn't worth risking an injury for anyone of us to just hike up the mountain with those conditions, so I'm fine using the caves to try and locate some stuff," I answered figuring taking the safer route idea would probably be better.

Eric opted to head into the caves to hunt for Pokemon, which I had to say was a good idea. We could always exit the caves further up the mountain, coming back on to the path when it was safer and easier to navigate. I nodded once and pulled another PokeBall free, tossing it to the ground and releasing the creature inside. When the blast of white light cleared away, an Absol was revealed. She stretched and glanced around, nodding politely at Dagger. The Floatzel simply stared at her though; even he was cautios around the Quirky Absol. She had a habit of being peculiar and over-the-top, but despite that she was quite gentle and fun-loving.

“Kilia, we’re going to head inside the mountain, so I’d like you to use your Will-o-Wisp to help light the way,” I told her. She made a happy sound and pranced around me, tossing her ebony, blade-like horn and looking extremely exuberant. I chuckled at her reaction, feeling bad that she didn’t get as much time to help lead Trainers as Dagger did. I would have to start bringing her more often, that was all there was to it.

I turned and started to lead our little party towards a cave about five feet away when a large, dark shadow abruptly slid over us. Seconds later a wave of hot air washed over the area, causing Kili to yap fearfully. Kilia simply danced around, clearly unconcerned with what was happening, and Dagger let out a growl as he looked up. I copied his movement, craning my head back and letting out a low, slow whistle at what I saw. Dagger’s growl died in his throat; Kilia, when she looked up as well, let out a howl of cheerful greeting; Kili, sensing the might of the beast above us, simply fell silent and stared at it.

Reshiram, one of the majestic and super-powerful Legends that lived here at Mount Deckbi, was hovering maybe twenty feet above us.

The ivory-scaled Dragon had its wings spread wide even though it wasn’t moving, peering down at use with electric-blue eyes. A bright ruby glow was emanating from its flowing, torch-like tail; I had heard stories of how flames intense enough to rival the sun could be shot from that tail, useful not only for attacking but for generating immense force for getting around faster.

The Dragon, for whatever reason, seemed interested in us, which was obvious since it was hanging around instead of zipping off. I’d only seen Reshiram one other time, and even though I knew it had seen me as well, that time it had ignored me completely. Maybe it was because it had seen me before and knew I was simply doing work around the Park, which granted, wasn’t very interesting. Now, though, I was leading a Trainer around Mount Deckbi. Perhaps Reshiram was intrigued by the idea of one little human leading another around to catch Pokemon. Maybe it liked the color of Eric’s shirt. I couldn’t say why the mythical Pokemon was paying us such attention, but I knew an experience like this would only come once in a lifetime.

Sara let out an Absol once she knew where I wanted to go. I was wondering why bring out an Absol now? It didn't seem to have much of a reason to be out, but Sara soon gave it a command, and I understood why.

“Kilia, we’re going to head inside the mountain, so I’d like you to use your Will-o-Wisp to help light the way,” Sara told her Absol, this way we'd have light along the way. Using a Will-o-Wisp as a means for light certainly seemed different to me, to say the least. It wasn't like using a Chandelure and just having it out in the open where its flames would create light.

Sara started to lead us into a cave, but before we got far at all a dark shadow came over us, and we were quickly feeling a wave of hot air. Zorua, Floatzel, and Sara all looked up to see what was the cause for this. I was shocked at what I saw when I followed their lead.

Reshiram, a legendary dragon, and one of the legendary Pokemon that reside here at Mt Deckbi was now only feet over our heads. I didn't exactly know how to react, I was in shock that such a rare Pokemon was hovering over my head. It was strange, it didn't seem to want to attack us, it just seemed interested in us, but I didn't know why.

"Oh wow, this would be a great picture opportunity," I said, as I reached into my bag and pulled out my camera. A picture of a legendary Pokemon always brought in a decent amount of money, plus it was great to just the chance to take a picture of something so rare.

Eric took out a Digital Camera and snapped a picture of Reshiram, who simply cocked its head in response to the small burst of light from the flash. After another moment or two it seemed to have gotten its full of us, giving a shake and a cry before abruptly zooming off to wherever it had been going before stopping to study us. Kilia barked a farewell and Dagger grumbled under his breath, reaching down and grabbing Kili up before she could scamper off.

Once the Legend was out of sight, I clapped my hands together and gave a smile, facing Eric.

“Well, that certainly was a lucky encounter. You might not be able to catch a Legend, but how many people can claim having been so close to one of them? Either way, we can head into the mountain now, so let’s get moving.”

This time we made it into the cave without any incident. As soon as we were inside, Kilia opened her jaws and spat out globs of reddish-blue fire. Instead of dissipating like normal, the seven or so spheres rose into the air, following Kilia as she pranced about. They would last for a while before needing to be replenished, so she wouldn’t be expending too much energy to light our way.

The cave we were in was pretty bland as far as caves go. There were a few spikes of stone rising from the cave floor and rocks of varying sizes scattered about, but other than that there wasn’t much to look at. About two yards away there were two paths; one was a twisting tunnel that led back to the base of the mountain, and the other led to other caves and paths that branched throughout Mount Deckbi. We would be taking this one, as it steadily led further up the volcano instead of back down it.

With Kilia in the lead we headed down the tunnel on the right, ghostly bluish light chasing back the immediate darkness. We could see clearly for about three to four yards in all directions, but after that distance the gloom closed back in and hit everything from view. I wasn’t very worried; we’d see any danger before stumbling upon it, including any kind of Pokemon.

Of course, there’s always an exception to one’s beliefs. As we approached a cave that was coming up, I heard Dagger start to growl. He was looking up, and when I followed his gaze I saw what had alarmed him. A giant larvae was hanging from a thin silken cord about eight feet above us, its fuzzy white upper body almost glowing in the light of Kilia’s Will-o-Wisp. Five twisting red horns were arranged around its head, with one on either side and three on the top. Bright blue eyes stared at us as the Pokemon gently swayed back and forth.

“Wow, you’re getting pretty lucky with the rare encounters today,” I told Eric, watching the Larvesta for any signs of aggression. Though they were normally pretty easy-going and passive, there were times when they could feel threatened and become dangerous for people not prepared to fight them.

OOC: Deciding on what gender I want this, so I dunno yet

IC: Reshiram gave a quick glance in response to the flash of light from the camera, let out a loud cry, and just like that it took off at a tremendous speed. I had no idea what interest it had in us. Maybe it was just not use to seeing people all that often, but it didn't matter much to me either way, it was just a great thought that I had been able to see something so rare up close, and in person.

Once Reshiram was no longer in sight Sara clapped her hands, and smiled at me.

“Well, that certainly was a lucky encounter. You might not be able to catch a Legend, but how many people can claim having been so close to one of them? Either way, we can head into the mountain now, so let’s get moving," Sara said to me.

It was pretty true actually, its not everyday that reports of seeing a Legendary Pokemon are said, and even if they are not everyone has photographic proof of seeing one like I did. That was the thing I loved about visiting the park, you never knew what you might encounter, and what you might get the chance to battle. The mystery of the whole trip was what made it so enjoyable to me. Of course though thinking about this reminded me that I hadn't attempted to use my Litwick Voice Disc since I tried it right away when I got to Deckbi, but I wasn't going to bother using it right now. I was still caught up with running into Reshiram, and so by now Sara was already leading me into and through this cave, so I figured it might be best to try using it after my next encounter.

Once we were in the cave Absol was instructed to use its Will-o-Wisp to light the way for us. The attack stuck around Absol, rather than vanish. I always thought it was pretty cool seeing how a Pokemon can use their moves to do useful things besides battling.

I couldn't exactly tell how far ahead the light allowed us to see, but it was far enough where we would see something coming at us before they saw us, so I wasn't too worried about that. Still though I couldn't help but wonder what was next. It would certainly take something big to follow an encounter like Reshiram that was for sure. I was just hoping it wouldn't be another let down like Magby or something.

As we started moving further along the way Sara's Floatzel started to growl for some reason. I couldn't help but think that whatever it was growling at was going to be the next Pokemon I encountered. I happened to see what it was growling at, a Pokemon was hanging up in the air from a small thread, it was a white and brown, sort of furry Pokemon, with five horns, and blue eyes. This was a Larvesta, one of the rarest, and most sought out Pokemon at Mount Deckbi.

“Wow, you’re getting pretty lucky with the rare encounters today,” Sara said to me. She didn't even need to ask me if I wanted to battle this Larvesta or not, she just knew that I would want to, because in all honesty who in their right mind, unless they already owned one, wouldn't want to battle a Pokemon like this?

Of course, the question now was which Pokemon should I use? Starmie could handle Larvesta, but at the same time Larvesta's Bug half would be a bit troublesome for Starmie, and it hadn't been a long time since Starmie battled on this run. There was of course Aerodactyl, however with it being part Rock-type it would kind of destroy Larvesta in a matter of seconds due to Larvesta's four times weakness to Rock. This left just Ambipom, but what Ambipom really the best choice for facing Larvesta? Or would I maybe be better off scaring it with Aerodactyl and just using tactical moves such as Toxic, and just stalling it out? I didn't want to risk things, so rather than trying to scare it with Aerodactyl I was going to play this smart.

"You're up," I said, as I turned my attention to Ambipom, gave it a look, and motioned my head at Larvesta.

"Ambi-Ambi-Ambipom," Ambipom let out to signal it was ready for battle. Ambipom was a big situational battler, it was the sort of Pokemon I'd use when I knew its strength would be best for the situation at hand. In the past I used it vs Vanillite, and Porygon on different trips to the park, and it did a wonderful job those times. It was capable of controlling its strength so it'd hold back, but at the same time with its Technician ability it did a wonderful job at dealing damage with its weaker moves such as Fake Out, and Double Hit, two moves it was known for.

When I used Ambipom I always started out pretty predictable, I would just tell Ambipom to use Fake Out, so it didn't take much to figure out this was coming, and to ready yourself with Protect or something. Though, while Larvesta seemed calm, and relaxed, those calm and relaxed Pokemon were also usually the best at strategy when it came to battle. They could find ways to avoid you, and hurt you at the same exact time. I knew I couldn't use my typical tactics, it'd take new crazy ideas to get the job done.

"Alright Ambipom, start off with an Agility to confuse Larvesta with your speed, then hit it with a Fake Out," I told Ambipom in a calm voice. I usually did try to start every battle off nice, simple, and calmly.

Ambipom turned to me and nodded, understanding its commands.

This was a strategy I had never tried before, though I wanted to. For whatever reason Fake Out would only work at the start of a battle, though nothing about it said it would only work if it was the very first move used. By doing this I wanted Larvesta to become confused, and dizzy by watching Ambipom increase its speed, and run all over the place. Then once its made it so Larvesta has a hard time keeping up Ambipom would use the increased priority of Fake Out to strike Larvesta. Now, while I wasn't sure this would exactly work like I planned, it was certainly worth trying.

Ambipom kicked its feet at the ground for a few moments, and then just like that it took off and started to run around the cave. Agility was a unique move, the Pokemon using it would run around a bit, gaining speed as it ran, and increasing its speed by two stages. I found this fascinating, because the Pokemon using it would only need to run for a little bit, and then after doing so the increased speed would stick with the Pokemon, they wouldn't need to keep running to keep the speed.

Ambipom was running around the cave as best he could in this limited space, and once he gained enough speed he would be ready to hit Larvesta with Fake Out.

Fake Out was a pretty tactical, and interesting move. While it could only be used at the start of a battle, it wasn't the most powerful move, but its secondary effect was what made people want to use it. Fake Out would always make the opposing Pokemon flinch no matter what, the only exception is if if the Pokemon had an ability that blocks flinching, such as Inner Focus. Also, while Fake Out wasn't the most powerful move it was perfect for Ambipom, not only did Ambipom get a STAB boost from it, but it also boosted its power with Technician too. In terms of how Fake Out looked though it was a pretty bland move. The Pokemon using it would charge over at the opponent, throw their hands, in Ambipom's case tails, in the air, and would make them crash against the side of the opponents body or head. This would shake them up, and startle them which is why they would flinch.

Once Ambipom was done gaining speed, it turned its focus to Larvesta, jumped in the air slightly, and instantly sprinted towards Larvesta. I was curious to see if Larvesta was ready for what I threw at it. This was only the start of the battle so going at a slow and steady pace was my style, but I was certainly looking forward to seeing how Larvesta would battle.

OOC: Yeah, so uhh it just says Fake Out will only work on the first turn of a battle, nothing about it being the first move, so I just sort of assumed in the park it'd work still if used on turn one, even if its not the first move. Guess I'll find out soon how you judge it though.

Eric was quick to take the opportunity of battling and possible catching Larvesta, giving Ambipom a simple combo to start the battle with. He first commanded the lavender-furred primate to use Agility in an effort to confound Larvesta, then go in for a strike with Fake Out. It was a somewhat unorthodox way of opening a battle, but one that might work nonetheless. With his enhanced speed, Ambipom might be able to surprise Larvesta enough so that when he attacked, the desire affect would be achieved.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t very much room to maneuver the in the cramped tunnel, so Ambipom had to dash around for longer than it normally would to build up his speed. While the monkey way building up his momentum, Larvesta tried to keep him in sight but was soon unable to. Instead of becoming flustered, though, the larvae instead started to spit a milky, liquid substance onto the rocky floor of the tunnel. Some of it splashed onto the walls as well, and Kilia had to dance out of the way to avoid being struck by it herself.

And then, just as Ambipom made his effort at Fake Out, Larvesta finished its String Shot move by shooting a final wad of sticky silk right into the spot Amibpom jumped from. His left paw caught in the gooey material, Ambipom was somewhat slowed down and momentarily caught off-guard. By the same stroke of luck Larvesta had just experienced, though, Ambipom’s tails were carried upwards by his speed; one smacked Larvesta straight in the face, while the other caught a glancing blow to the fiery insect’s rear. This was enough to snap the thread holding it airborne, causing to all to the ground with a thump. Ambipom himself landed awkwardly, nearly stepping in more sticky webbing and barely staying on his feet. He rubbed his silk-coated foot against the ground in an effort to scrape it off, but it was stuck firm. It was a good thing he’d managed to work his Agility in earlier, as the String Shot would hamper his ability to move quickly and could have otherwise proved to be a much bigger problem.

As Ambipom was trying to get rid of the String Shot on his foot, Larvesta slowly regained its wits and shook its head. When it noticed that Ambipom was distracted, the Pokemon decided now would be a good time to protect itself from future attacks. Tensing its body, Larvesta tightened the muscles throughout its small frame; with its muscles firmer, Larvesta could reduce the amount of shock absorbed into its body and thus lower any damage from physical attacks. With its Harden in place, Larvesta decided it was a good moment to try for a little payback.

Rearing back for a moment, the larvae threw itself towards Ambipom with an amazing leap, a burst of white energy enveloping its body. It was using a Double-Edge attack, one that would inflict a considerable amount of damage on Ambipom if it hit. It would also redirect energy back at Larvesta because of the force with which it would collide with its foe, but thanks to its Harden, the damage it received would be less than normal.

OOC: Female, and this post was a lot shorter than I wanted it to be

IC: Larvesta had a keen eye, it was keeping track of what Ambipom was doing. The Agility didn't seem to be confusing it much at all, though it was possibly making it rather dizzy, because rather than wait for Ambipom to make a move after Agility, it fired out a String Shot in different directions, which in turn caught a lot of various parts of the cave with its sticky web. This could have been very dangerous for Ambipom, had it not been careful when using Agility, or Fake Out, it could have easily been caught by one of the strings, thus halting its movement, and make it a sitting duck. Though Ambipom wasn't the kind to just sit there and allow the opponent to do whatever they wanted to it. It was still able to avoid a good deal of the strings, and land its Fake Out on Larvesta. The attack hit Larvesta both in the face, and its backside. It was so powerful that it actually cause the thread Larvesta was hanging by to snap, and it made Larvesta and Ambipom both crash into the ground, causing Larvesta to become shaken up, and Ambipom seemingly avoided any harm from the fall.

Unfortunately though Ambipom's left paw was caught by the String Shot, and when it came crashing to the ground it nearly stepped into even more of it, which would have greatly harmed Ambipom's speed. Ambipom needed to spend some time trying to get the String Shot off of it so it could continue to move at the full speed that it worked to get, but this however was not good for Ambipom. It gave Larvesta a great chance to collect its wits, and notice Ambipom was distracted long enough for it to perform a move itself. It begun to become tense, tightening its body, without increasing its muscles. It used Harden to raise its defensive capabilities, making itself prone to take less damage from Physical attacks. I doubt Larvesta knew this off the top of its head, but what it was doing was actually really smart. Ambipom didn't have many Special attacks, it was more of a Physical attacker, so now Larvesta could withstand a lot more of Ambipom's moves. If nothing else this Larvesta at least knew how to battle, it was smart enough to boost its defenses so it could focus on attacking I assumed.

Larvesta wasn't finished yet though, it pulled its body back a little, and propelled itself at Ambipom with a tremendous force. White energy started to surround its body, this showed it was using a Double-Edge. This was a very powerful attack, though it didn't go unpunished, the Pokemon that used it would suffer some of the damage it dealt as recoil. Though, with Larvesta using Harden before this, there was a pretty good chance the damage it felt as recoil would be considerable lower. I liked how Larvesta though, I was always a fan of Pokemon who'd use their mind in battle, and therefore I knew I had to have this Larvesta.

I had to act relatively quick, Ambipom was in a bad situation, it had one of its paws stuck still, so it couldn't run really, nor was it very good for close range combat, not with Larvesta baring down on it anyway. I did have one idea in mind, though there was no telling if it would actually work or not, but still I had to at least try.

"Okay Ambipom, you did a great job with that last combo, but now we need to try a different one. Use a Sand Attack, followed up be a Swift!" I yelled to Ambipom. It had done the combo of Agility, and Fake Out perfectly, I just hadn't been expecting on String Attack coming into play, and making a twist in the battle. I wasn't too worried yet though, while its true that String Attack does reduce your speed, it had happened after Ambipom already boosted its speed, so it was still faster than it was at the start of the battle.

This combo I told Ambipom now was a bit different to work with, I was hoping that by having Ambipom use Sand-Attack it could kick some of the dirt, and gravel from the cave ground into Larvesta's eyes, temporarily blinding it, or at the very least distracting it, causing it to possibly swerve off course, and only partly hit Ambipom. Then I wanted it to follow up with Swift, because that was an attack Ambipom could use from a distance, and if it did successful take away Larvesta's sight for a few moments, I'd rather Ambipom attack from a distance to avoid possibly being hit. Even if Larvesta had a bit of trouble seeing, it could still probably see Ambipom up close, and get a hit in on it, but from a distance Ambipom would have a good chance to dodge attacks.

Ambipom nodded at me, and got its right paw ready to use Sand-Attack once Larvesta got close. It also started to inhale a little bit, getting the Swift attack ready as well in case it saw a good opportunity to strike.

Sand-Attack was exactly how its name sounded, the Pokemon using it would kick, or fling some sand, or dirt from the ground at the opposing Pokemon, making them slightly confused, and causing their accuracy to go down some, and in some rare cases even temporarily blinding the Pokemon. It was strategical if your Pokemon were into dodging attacks, and then striking. This attack was commonly seen being used by Ground-type Pokemon, and in some cases Flying-type, though some other Pokemon could learn it as long as they had legs such as Ambipom. There was of course no guarantee that the cave ground could easily be kicked up, between the String Shot everywhere, and Ambipom more or less working on one leg right now, but still it was at least worth trying if it could help to protect Ambipom a little bit.

After this was suppose to come a Swift attack. Swift was an interesting looking attack, the user would inhale a deep breath, and exhale some gold, and silver colored stars at the opponent. Swift was one of the few Special attacks that Ambipom could learn, and while Ambipom was far from the greatest Special attacker, this was the best move to use right now. Larvesta increased its defense, and Ambipom would receive both STAB, and a boost from Technician, making Swift a powerful enough attack to cause some damage. This, combined with the fact that Swift can be used from a distance made it the best option right now, because with one paw unable to be used currently close combat was no an option.

Ambipom was standing firm in its place, waiting for Larvesta to strike. This Larvesta was clearly a crafty one though, using String Shot as a chance to not only boost its defense, but attempt to get an attack in too. I knew I'd need to be on my toes throughout this whole battle, because one wrong move, and Larvesta would easily gain the upper hand.
