The small Poliwag shot an Icy Wind at Mindbender. She took the attack without taking much damage, which wasn't a surprise seeing how Icy Wind was a particularly weak attack. Her speed and movements however were slowed, that was the side effect of Icy Wind, one of which I liked using quite often, especially against particular Pokemon that were pretty fast. Poliwag wasn't done there though, he let out a Water Pulse attack that was coming straight towards Mindbender.

"Mindbender, counter that with Thunderbolt, give it a bit of juice to do some good damage." I called out to her. That was the first time I called out an attack out loud instead of doing it telepathically. Mindbender quickly began to create electricity around her body and swiftly fired it at the oncoming attack and the Poliwag.

Leo, seeing Poliwag's incoming attack, reacted quickly. "Mindbender, counter that with Thunderbolt, give it a bit of juice to do some good damage," he called out to his Gardevoir.

Mindbender began to build up electrical energy, a few sparks dancing around her form as she did so. However, her movements were slowed thanks to Poliwag's icy attack from earlier, and before she could fire off her own attack a few of the outer waves from Water Pulse managed to strike home. Fortunately, she managed to avoid before becoming confused and the Gardevoir soon launched her charged Thunderbolt straight at the nearby Water-type, causing it to cry out in pain.

Poliwag, even though she had taken a powerful blow from two super-effective attacks, wasn't done for the count just yet. It waddled quickly towards the nearby body of water, and flung a large amount of mud towards Mindbender's direction. Maybe she was trying to use the nearby mud as a means to prevent further Electric attacks, or maybe it was just chose a strange way to attack; either way, the globs of wet dirt were heading straight towards the Gardevoir.

"Mindbender, stop that mud with your Psychic attack." I called out to her. Her Psychic powers were strong, but I wasn't sure if she would stop it in time. It wasn't that hard to do, especially since Poliwag is a basic Pokemon and not that strong. Of course I wasn't going to let that make me feel too confident, but it was still something we could easily handle. "Then, I want you to use Magical Leaf, that should be the last attack we need to bring Poliwag's health low enough for us to capture."

I knew that she would levitate the leaves off of the ground and launch them towards the Poliwag. Then, and only after the attack hit could I throw my Parkball at Poliwag and hope for success. I wanted to move on already, and honestly, I wasn't even particularly sure why I went after this Poliwag in the first place. I didn't really need it, or want it for that matter, but perhaps I would find someone that would. I carefully aimed my Parkball and waited for the right moment to launch the ball.

"Mindbender, stop that mud with your Psychic attack," Leo called out, waiting a moment before adding, "Then, I want you to use Magical Leaf, that should be the last attack we need to bring Poliwag's health low enough for us to capture."

Mindbender raised her wispy arms, and most of the globules of mud halted in midair as they were held in place by the Gardevoir's psychic power. While a few smaller flecks of the attack managed to hit her, they appeared to do minimal damage. Once the Mud Shot was fully repelled, Mindbender let the mud fall harmlessly to the ground as she summoned a small amount of leaves before her. The flora shone with a strange light before she directed them towards the nearby Poliwag.

Surprised to see her attack nulled in such a manner, Poliwag was completely helpless as the Magical Leaf attack slashed into her, making the tiny creature slump to the ground. Before she could use another attack, the wild Pokemon was sucked into a tiny sphere- Leo having thrown a Parkball as soon as Mindbender's attack had finished. The capture device wobbled about dangerously, and for a moment it looked as if Poliwag still had some fight left. Moments later though, the Parkball finally grew still.

“Congrats on a successful capture,” Makina said, retrieving the Parkball and placing it into a side pocket in her pack for now. “Shall we move on, or did you want to see if there are any other Pokemon hiding about before the area shifts once more?”

“Yeah, I want to see what other Pokemon we can find before it shifts again,” Leo said, looking about. “Lead the way.”

Makina nodded in reply, then turned to Aria. Don't suppose you sense any other Pokemon nearby? There has to be a reason why we haven't reverted back to the Ruins, after all, she silently asked the Gardevoir.

Aria closed her eyes in concentration, and a few moments later she gave a slight nod. <There is something near the water to the right of us, but it's faint. Almost as if it is sleeping, or just daydreaming.>

Curious, Makina walked over to the pool in question. It was more of a march, being muddy more than anything else, and appeared to be quite shallow; possibly a couple feet deep, no more. As looked towards the edge, there was a small light blue Pokemon lazing contentedly in the mud, apparently unaware that there had been a battle not even fifty feet away from it mere minutes ago.

“Looks like a Wooper, though it's hard to tell with all that mud,” Makina said, pointing over to the dozing Pokemon. “Care to battle it, or would you like to leave it alone?”

Makina turned to her Gardevoir, Aria, probably to speak with it telepathically. I did that with Mindbender quite often, even in battle where it proved to be most useful because the opponent could not hear what we were saying. She then proceeded to lead the way, wasn't sure where she was going, but I didn't care as long as another good, useful Pokemon came our way. She stopped and said,

“Looks like a Wooper, though it's hard to tell with all that mud,” Makina said, pointing over to the dozing Pokemon. “Care to battle it, or would you like to leave it alone?”

"Let's leave it, I don't want to do battle with it, or wake it, it looks like it's peacefully sleeping. Let's move on as quietly as possible."

Upon seeing the dozing creature, Leo shook his head. “Let's leave it. I don't want to do battle with it or wake it, it looks like it's peacefully sleeping.”

Makina nodded in response, and they silently backed away from the wild Pokemon. Thankfully, it didn't appear to have noticed them, not even moving an inch as they walked off. Granted, this was hardly surprising- if the battle between Mindbender and Poliwag had not even caused it to wake up, two people walking away would hardly bother its slumber.

As Wooper grew further out of sight, the Ruins changed their surroundings yet again. Once more, they were inside what appeared to be a cave. Like their very first encounter the area felt quite warm and a little dry, hinting that they were most likely close to Mount Deckbi. Directly in front of them, a midsized Pokemon that appeared to made entirely of rock took a small step back in surprise as it noticed the newcomers arrive. Even though it looked fearsome, the Ground-type looked curious more than anything else.

“How in the world did a Graveler make its way in here?” Makina wondered aloud, taking a cautious step back as well. Even though there was just enough room for her and Leo to squeeze by if the Pokemon was willing to stand sideways, that hardly explained why it wished to stay in such close quarters in the first place. “At least it doesn't seem to be aggressive. Did you want one, by any chance?”

It wasn't long after leaving the Wooper that the scene changed and we came across yet another Pokemon that I wasn't interested in the least. It was a Graveler. “How in the world did a Graveler make its way in here?” Makina said. I shrugged, I didn't particularly care why, since I wasn't going to battle it or anything.

"No idea, but I'm not interested in doing battle with it either way. If possible, luck being on my side, I'd like to avoid this Pokemon, I'll have a doll handy just in case."

Unsurprisingly, Leo didn't appear interested in Graveler, interesting place to encounter one or not. “No idea, but I'm not interested in doing battle with it either way. If possible, luck being on my side, I'd like to avoid this Pokemon.”

“Hopefully we can convince it to let us squeeze past then,” Makina replied back, and approached the nearby rock-like creature. “Excuse us, but do you mind moving to the side so we can pass?”

While Graveler's demeanor hardly changed, it didn't seem to be willing to let anyone walk past it just yet either. In fact, it appeared ready to just sit down right in front of the two humans. Before it could do so, however, Leo pulled out a Pokedoll- a Geodude shaped one, ironically enough. Seeing the new toy, Graveler happily stood to the side and held out an arm to accept the Doll. In another hand, it held a small object towards Leo.

Makina gave a small grin at seeing the large Pokemon pull off such a trade. “Looks like it wants to give you a White Apricorn in return. Not a bad trade, actually.” While the Park Shop held a near limitless amount of Pokedolls for Trainers and Rangers to use, no one had been able to obtain enough Apricorns to actually sell them in the store just yet. As soon as the items had been swapped, Makina led them further into the cave.

As Graveler disappeared from sight, oddly enough the scenery hardly changed at all. While they were still inside what appeared to be a cave, the only sign that the environment had changed was that the air was now far less hot. The temperature did not drop drastically though, and before any other changes could be found a small, slightly transparent violet Pokemon phased through the left wall to greet them.

We must be back in the Valley, Makina thought to herself, noticing that Aria had almost subconsciously stepped back from the nearby Ghost-type. The Gardevoir didn't care much for this particular species, but only because of her dislike of the evolution. Ignoring Aria's silent reaction, Makina turned to Leo instead. “Did you want a Shuppet?”
