Ranger Elisa Fleming
NBP#1
"To the Great Lakes?" I echoed, sounding like a little kid who couldn't believe her ears - and, in a way, this was the scenario as of now. I shook my head, clearing my mind. It wasn't that I hadn't heard of this particular zone of the National Park before, it's just that I hadn't visited it as often as the mountains or the Botanic Gardens.
I smiled. Finally, I had been given another chance to explore the habitat of the Water-typed Pokemon. Finally, I could be with the type of creatures I liked the most. Yes, my favorites were Water-types. And, I was sure the trainer liked them, too - after all, Garth did have a large collection of these entities on his belt.
"Alright, I'll take it," I told the secretary, snatching the brown folder from her hands. I flipped it open, allowing my yellow-colored Ranger's Digital Assistant (RDA). I would read it in full detail later on for it was quite long; I only skimmed through the important details.
It was, indeed, going to be a journey through the Great Lakes with Garth Crysis, a fellow ranger of the National Park. If I remembered correctly, he was also a referee, a judge, a grader, and the new Cerulean City Gym Leader. I was truly impressed - not just by how high he was up in the ranks with all his positions, but also by the fact that he could juggle all these responsibilities without too much of a problem.
I headed off to grab my brown-colored messenger bag, dropping in a couple of emergency items. It seemed that Garth wouldn't be bringing very many of these escape items, so I figured I should bring a decent number of them - just in case. According to his trainer file, he had packed six Energy Roots, a kind of organic healing potion. I wasn't too worried that his partners would get knocked-out or loose too much of their health for he did have these herbs.
I strapped my RDA around my wrist as it quickly transformed into something like that of the Poketch's of Sinnoh, only larger with more features. It also looked a bit like a Pokedex with its bigger screen and various buttons here and there. However, if the gadget was in its original form, it would look quite like the PokeGears of Kanto.
I then chose a few of my Pokemon to come along with me on this trip. I decided that Kipper, my Swampert and starter Pokemon, would be one of them. The other two were Archer, my Gallade, and Glaceon named Icabella. After grabbing their Pokeballs, I headed out of the Ranger Headquarters.
"Have fun, Elisa!" one of the other rangers called after me as I pushed my way outside. I could only reply with a quick "Thanks!", before making my way towards the Docks.
"Kipper, come on out!" I stood on the wooden platform and summoned my Water-Ground-type out of his red-and-white housing. The orb snapped open, releasing a flash of bright light. The zig-zagging beam shot straight to the serenely-flowing waters in front of me, forming into a sciurine-like shape. With a mighty growl, a primarily blue-colored entity appeared before me. He landed on the clear liquid dead on, creating a large splash - the wave almost getting the best of me. I jumped back immediately - I couldn't possibly go on a park run if I were to be drenched by the tides. I couldn't blame him for his enthusiastic entrance, though. After all, he hadn't been out of his ball in a while now - much less in a Park expedition.
"Excited to accompany me on a run again, huh, boy?" I greeted, patting his head as cool breeze brushed past me. My long brown hair fluttered back in the gust. Right then and there, I decided to tie up my hair into a ponytail for the day seemed to be a rather windy one. "Our destination for today: the Great Lakes."
The Mud Fish Pokemon nodded in acknowledgement as I hopped onto his back. The place wasn't very far from this Ranger Outpost, so I took it upon myself to finish reading through the application as we journeyed on rapid waters. Garth was bringing four Pokemon along with him, all having a wide set of moves. Surely, the battles I would be spectating today would be very interesting ones. I hoped to see creativity in each of them - making interesting combos and the like was much easier if your partners had diverse movepools.
I returned the Swampert back to his Pokeball upon arriving at the zone filled with Water-types. I walked up to the large, metal gates which served as the entrance to the place, knowing that I was quite early. Park security was quite tough - there was a need of a retinal scan before the gates would click open. I brought my eye up to the security device, and a red beam dazzled my pupils - bright crimson red meeting a clear, azure sky-type of blue shade. It beeped in recognition as the metal poles creaked open.
Now, all that was left was to wait for the ranger-slash-trainer.
