Commencing..

"Alright, we're taking off to the lakes again." I said to Shadow, my Houndoom and most trusted Pokemon. "Looks like we have someone interested in going to that location. I only agreed to take this run so we can go scout out the area for any Phione. You know my brothers and I are still looking for that damn Pokemon. I don't know why we haven't come close to tracking it down yet. I am a bit disappointed, hope all this work hasn't been for nothing and that Phione isn't even in this area. Shadow just let out a low bark and brought me my backpack. It had a couple of supplies in it for me to sell to my trainer if needed, but the rest of the stuff was my tracking supplies.

I was going to bring Tentakil, my Tentacruel, Skydive, my Crobat, Smokescreen, my Kingdra, and Scamper, Cameron's Lucario to help me search for Phione. Of course we were still focused on the Trainer and his expedition here, but in my head this searching mission came first, I just wasn't going to show it though.

The trip to the lakes was fairly quick. We were there in less then half an hour. Once we got there, I saw that my Trainer still hadn't arrived yet. That was a good thing, it let me start the tracking mission early. "Alright guys, get out there and start looking. We need a Phione tracked so we can capture it. Find the location and report back. If you see any trouble, report that too. When the day is over, I'll reward you guys for this. "Okay, head on out now!"

"Now we wait Shadow." I said to the large hellhound. We sat back underneath a tree and waited.

Airik had managed to find the time for another visit to the National Park, he had decided that it was about time he went to the great lakes. Despite primarily being a grass type trainer he didn't want to only own grass types, that made taking on other trainers tricky as they knew what to expect and could very easily counter your pokemon. Airik grabbed his messenger bag and stuffed it full of supplies, Numerous balls for capturing pokemon in the park, the poke player he bought and the Corpish voice disk and then the three pokemon he was planning on using in the park.

Ludicolo, who Airik had decided on primarily for its ability to use Surf as well as its heavy resistance to water type attacks and its wide move pool. Cacturne who had the ability Water Absorb an obvious choice for when going to an area full of water type pokemon, it also knew a lot of moves and could effectively counter most water pokemon they encountered. Cradily who also has the ability Storm Drain, that allowed it to absorb incoming water attacks and actually raised the power of its special type attacks. Airik had picked the pokemon he was using in the Park very carefully to neutralise the threat to him and his pokemon from the water types in the great lakes.

Airik grabbed one last pokemon Exeggutor and released it from its pokeball.

"Exeggutor, Exeggutor Exeggutor".

Airik looked at the weird psychic and grass type, come on then lets go.

"Exeggutor."

Airik stood next to the coconut pokemon and then in a flash of light he was gone.

The world began to materialise from the nothingness that surrounded Airik and the image that appeared before him was of a man leaning against a tree with a pokemon he recognised as a Houndoom. As the world solidified Airik took Exeggutors pokeball and said "Return". The coconut pokemon was enveloped by a red light before disappearing inside the spherical device.

He approached the man that he assumed was his ranger for this journey, he outstretched his hand to shake the man's hand "I'm Doctor Stormgrad but please just call me Airik"

Commencing..

"I'm Doctor Stormgrad but please just call me Airik" A man said as he materialized a few yards away from me. He had used his Exeggutor to use Teleport. I wasn't sure if he was a doctor doctor, or a PhD doctor, but since that didn't matter on this run, I didn't ask. He recalled his Pokemon and extended his arm in the usual gesture of recognition. I shook his hand and introduced myself.

"I am Leo, and I'll be your Ranger for today." I said. "This here is Shadow, and he shall be accompanying us on this journey." Shadow let out a small bark as his way of saying hi. "If you are ready, we shall begin." With that, I began leading him down a small trail that led to a small lake near the far left of the Great Lakes. It wasn't long before a Pokemon came our way. I spotted the Tentacool while it was in the center of the lake, if Airik didn't want to battle it, he'd better hurry and decide before it comes our way.

"Want to battle that Tentacool over there?" I asked him.

"I am Leo, and I'll be your Ranger for today." Airik nodded while making a point to remember the mans name

"This here is Shadow, and he shall be accompanying us on this journey." The ranger who Airik now knew as Leo was gesturing towards his Houndoom, Interesting name for a Houndoom Airik

"If you are ready, we shall begin." Leo said before heading off towards the lakes, Airik followed and it wasn't long before they Spotted a Tentacool. It was off in the centre of the lake and they had time to react before it would notice them and start heading there way.

"Want to battle that Tentacool over there?" Leo said

"Not really" Airik said "I'm not overly interested and with its poison typing it could do some serious damage to the pokemon I have brought with me."

Airik pulled out some money in a small clip, after his last park run he went to the effort to separate his money into batches and hold them together with money clips. Each clip was enough to purchase a pokedoll if he needed too. "This should be enough money if we need to buy a pokedoll but it hasn't seemed to notice us yet I think we have a good chance of avoiding it". Airik looked at his ranger expectantly waiting for him to make the next move.

Airik Readied his pokeplayer inserting the the Corpish voice disk ready to play after they had either escaped from or distracted the tentacool

Commencing..

"Not really" Airik said "I'm not overly interested and with its poison typing it could do some serious damage to the Pokemon I have brought with me." He said. I just nodded and shrugged. He had a point, but in my opinion, that was how one tested their strength and bond with the Pokemon was by battling tougher opponents. Tenatcruel was a great Pokemon to have, the one I had was quite strong. However, since this wasn't my run and I couldn't make him capture it, I gave one last glance at the Tentacool, who by now was headed in the other direction, and began to lead Airik further down the path.

He began to play his Pokeplayer device. The sound that came out of the Pokeplayer was that from a Corphish. I only knew that because I had recently used one to capture a Corphish, I hoped he had the same luck I did. I waited and listened after he played the voice player to see if any Pokemon would respond to the call. I honestly didn't think anything would come, especially since Corphish weren't really seen in this area, but I heard a faint cry, I just couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. Skydive came flying above us and began tracking the sound with his echolocation. It took him only a matter of seconds to give us a direction.

We began heading in the direction Skydive pointed out for us, and a few minutes later, we encountered the Corphish. The Ruffian Pokemon was just standing there waiting, as if he knew we were coming. The Corphish got into a battling position and waited for Airik to make the first move. I didn't have to ask if he wanted to battle this Pokemon, so I just stood back and waited for him to begin the battle.

As the tune began to play out of the Pokeplayer Airik could see Leo looking around, Suddenly there was a screech overhead and a Crobat flew low over there heads before swooping off in a new direction. Leo began to follow the Bat pokemon, Airik made the assumption that this was one of his rangers pokemon and he was using to assist in this park run. Airik wondered how many other pokemon his ranger had already out and about in the great lakes looking for Arceus knows what.

As the two men and the Houndoom followed the Bat pokemon they came across a Corpish, the Ruffian pokemon was standing there as if challenging them to a game of chicken. Airik was not going to be the first one to back down, he had a decision to make about which pokemon to use. Cacturne would resist Corpish's Dark type attacks and was immune to its water type attacks, Cradily was also immune to the water type damage and incredibly resilient and then Ludicolo who was able to resist water type attacks due to its dual typing and could put out damage too.

Airik reached into his bag he had made his decision about which pokemon to use, he grabbed a pokeball and tossed it into the air and in a blinding flash Cacturne appeared.

The Scarecrow pokemon stood there eyeing up the Corpish and the Ruffian pokemon just stared right back

"Ok Cacturne" Airik shouted, "Use the Combination".

Cacturne began to rush towards the Corpish and his fists began to glow

"The combination is something I taught Cacturne a while ago" Airik said. "If he uses it correctly he will punch with his left fist using a Thunder punch and hope to daze or stun his foe and then follow up with a powerful drain punch, the idea is to knock his opponent off balance and regain some health of his own".

Airik folded his arms across his chest and just waited to see what would happen.

"Ok Cacturne" Airik shouted, "Use the Combination. The combination is something I taught Cacturne a while ago" Airik said. I overheard the trainer explaining, just as I reached him to replace Leo as his ranger. It wasn't too often that rangers were switched mid-battle with a wild Pokemon, but this just happened to be one of those occasions. All the while, Cacturne had began to focus power into his fists; one of which glew bright white, and the other was covered with yellow electricity. Obviously the combination would stun and sap, and give Cacturne a bit of an edge with the regained energy. Before the attack was officially launched, I took the time to give a brief introduction.

"I'm Taither, the ranger that will be replacing Leo for the rest of the run. Sadly, he had to be called away in an emergency. Something about a flock of Pidgey somewhere. Didn't get the details, but sounds messy." I smirked, turning to the battle at hand. "Corphish are pretty tough, don't get too cocky." I warned, as the Cacturne rushed the small crustacean. Cacturne wasn't exactly a running kind of Pokemon, so it looked more like a lumbering sprint, while the Corphish clamped its' claws a few times, while they started to glow with a white gleam. Airiks Pokemon would have to be careful, since many crustacean-like Pokemon have viciously devastating claws that could cut through most metals like butter. One chomp from them would do a lot of damage to anything with average defenses, like Airiks grass-types. It seemed that the trainer got lucky, though, as the first punch connected with the wild creature, smacking into the hard shell with a loud *THUD!*, pushing the small lobster-like Pokemon backwards a few feet. The electricity from the first part surged through the small water-type, but it seemed to be enduring it pretty well considering the super-effective attack. Just as Cacturne went in with the second punch, though, Corphish reached out with surprising agility and clamped its claw around Cacturnes' wrist, effectively stopping the punch mid-swing. The claw tightened hard, attempting to crush the Pokemons arm in its Vicegrip. Cacturne seemed to be in a bit of pain, but relatively alright, until the wild Pokemon swung its other claw right at Cacturnes' head. The claw hammered down with tremendous force, sending Airiks Pokemon face-first into the grass, denting in the ground where the grass-types' head made contact with the ground. The wild crustacean released Cacturnes arm, backing up and preparing for the next attack, yet seemed a bit disoriented. Probably from the Thunderpunch it took to the head a few minutes ago finally effecting it. I looked over at Airik, wondering what his next move might be in this interesting battle. Corphish seemed to be right up his ally in terms of technique.

Taither warned Airik simply smirked knowing full well what his Cacturne could do. Airik watched as Cacturne made a lumbering sprint towards the Ruffian pokemon he unleashed a powerful Thunder Punch into the smaller water type it reeled with the hit but righted itself quickly. Cacturne went for the second punch and Corpish came in with its claw catching the charged fist mid swing before bringing a second claw hammering in it did some damage to Cacturne however its Water Absorb activated when the Crab Hammer attack came in.

"Ok Cacturne, Needle Arm and then try again for the Drain punch make sure it connects this time" Airik ordered. Cacturne and Corpish danced around one another each one waiting for the next to make the move before Cacturne broke off and dove in Needle covered arm glistening .

Try to get your character count up per post, or this fight will take a lot longer than it needs to. If you wrote a good 2k per post, you'd be done in about 2 more posts. Instead it's going to take more like 4-5. Just sayin', quality counts.

BP#2

Airik seemed a bit surprised that his attacks didn't combo together as he thought. Corphish was a defensive opponent, who rather let its enemy come to him and counter with its strong claws. Getting within melee range wasn't a smart idea without some sort of advantage, be it speed or a protection of some sort. Those claws could do massive damage if caught in them. The Cacturne and lobster-like opponent seemed to stare each other down, sizing each other up while one waits for commands, the other just biding its time while planning its next counter.

"Ok Cacturne, Needle Arm and then try again for the Drain punch make sure it connects this time" Airik ordered. I wasn't too sure if my trainer knew, but Corphishs' thick outer shell wasn't one to be pierced easily. The move being of the grass persuasion could benefit Airik, so maybe it would. He had to try something to take this little bugger down in order to catch. Airiks Pokemon suddenly rushed towards the Corphish, the spikes along its' forearm grew out to sharp, dagger-like protrusions in preparation for the attack. Cacturne had quite a bit of speed for a grass-type, although still not all that fast compared to most evolved Pokemon. It definitely trumped the basic Corphish, who was still yet to evolve. Once Cacturne was within range, it swung its' arm across its chest, smashing into the side of Corphishs' head spikes-first. The small water-type went spiraling to the side, unable to keep its' small legs gripped to the ground from the force of the attack. The Corphish tumbled across the grass before coming to a stop, a bit disoriented and hurting. It struggled to its' feet, flinching from the pain of the attack. Cacturne continued in on its' enemy, its' fist glowing with a deep burgandy, smashing into the Corphish and sending it crashing into the ground again. On contact, the attack sapped some energy, healing Cacturne slightly. The hit knocked the Corphish out of its' disoriented state, and sought revenge. The wild Pokemon retaliated with a Vicegrip, clenching its' claws around Cacturnes torso and squeezing. It actually lifted Airiks' Pokemon right off the ground, which was quite astonishing for a creature of its' size. the Corphish slammed Cacturne into the ground, sending the grass-dark type bouncing backwards. Cacturne quickly got up, brushing off the last attack quite well. It seems that this fight might be a long one, considering that despite Airiks' great combos, he still leaves his Pokemon open to retaliation.

Cacturne was caught in a Vicegrip before being slammed into the ground, the cactus like pokemon got up and brushed itself off simply smiling towards the small Lobster like pokemon that he was facing up against. Airik had been enjoying watching this battle unfold Cacturne was being ever aggressive which was in his nature being a straightforward type who just liked to dive in.

"Thats it Cacturne now i want you to try something" Airik had a plan to lure the ruffian pokemon in. "Try using your Ingrain" Airik shouted he wanted cacturne to root into the ground to prevent the Corpish from picking up the more evolved pokemon again, despite its size corpish was strong and agressive and it shouldn't be underestimated.

Cacturne looked at the sandy soil beneath his feet and it reminded him of the desert that was his natural habitat, Roots shot out from the Cactus pokemons feet and began surging through the soft earth deep into the ground so that they could absorb the nutrients held below the surface. Cacturne's Ingrain was particularly strong compared to other grass types being used to harsher climates it was better able to absorb the nutrients it needed.

"Well Done Cacturne, Now lets play the waiting game, Use a Leech seed to try and anger it and when it comes into attack you use your Sucker punch on the poor lobster". Airik thought this over Cacturne had been the agressor and had been taking a beating when corpish thought back obviously corpish preffered to counter attack but it too was agressive hopefully this change of tact on cacturnes part would put the smaller Dark type off his game"

Cacturne Puffed up his cheeks and spat out a fat seed towards the poor corpish it was perfectly formed and flew towards the dark type cutting through the air. the genius of this strategy was it also allowed Cacturne to recover some lost health and ment it might be of use in later battles

Ranger Sammy

I looked around the lakes, wiping a little bit of mug off of my boot. What was I doing here again? Oh right, I had to cover for Tai, who was covering for Leo. Or something. All I knew was that I got a call from Tai telling me to cover for him for some reason or another. I just got a call from them telling to come to the Lakes. I was too sleepy to question it or care. I had nothing else planed for today anyway. I made my way over to the clearing that Tai told me to come to to.


Tai was standing behind a trainer, and I walked over, tapped on the shoulder. He seemed relieved to see me, and ran off after saying something that sounded like "I owe you one," Or something. There is a battle going one, and I took a second to take a look at the fighters. A man, who I guessed was Airik, and a Pokemon that wasn't regularly found in the Lakes, Cacturne . I took a wild guess and decided that the grass type belonged to him. The other fighter was a Corphish, and man, did it look ticked. The Large grass type had already started moving, or rooting. Roots sunk their way into the soft sand, and started collecting heath from the earth.


Then it spat a few seeds from its mouth the seeds fell onto the water type, enraging it. It raised It's claw in the air, and made many angry sounding noises. Some even sounded insulting. The Large grass type had a ticked look on it's face, and looked just a bit angry. I guessed that the Corphish had just used taunt, a move that wound force the Cacturne to attack. Cacturne was now rooted in place, which could make attaching a bit difficult. The Corphish wasn't done yet, as it ran towards the towering grass type, It's claw glowing a red aura. The Water type was within inches of hitting the towering foe, and the Grass type hit the Corphish with a sneak attack. The attack hit the little guy, but it kept on going, colliding with the grass type. The move appeared to be for the fighting type. That was something that would do a good chunk of damage to Cacturne. The Water type jumped away before Cacturne had a chance to land another blow on it. The two eyed each other, waiting for a move to be made or an order to be given.

Cacturnes Leach Seed hit, this seemed to anger the Corpish as it raised It's claw in the air and began gesturing towards Cacturne all the while making angry sounding noises. Airik was sure he heard something like an insult that he couldnt repeat before the watershed. Dark type pokemon where tricky and Airik was fairly certain from the angry and frustrated look on Cacturnes face that the move Corpish just used was Taunt. The move would force Cacturne into attacking the dark and water type pokemon which would be difficult because Cacturne was now rooted in place. Now was when Corpish took the bait and lunged forward, Cacturne timed it perfectly and caught its fellow Dark type pokemon with a brilliantly executed Sucker Punch however now Corpish was up close to Cacturne and hit it with a super effective Brick break.

Airik thought about Cacturnes predicament, it was literally rooted in place and didn't really have anything it could do from its stationary position what was originally a good idea in staying still and hopefully being able to knock out the tiny crustacean but since that was not the case Airik had to quickly Concoct another plan. Turning around to discuss with Tai he suddenly realised that he was not there and that someone else yet another ranger had taken his place. Suddenly Airik felt sad he honestly thought that he got through more rangers than hot meals, this ranger was different to his previous rangers in regards to the fact that she was a female Airik's previous encounters had all been with male rangers his only hope would be that a woman might have more dedication than to abandon a trainer before the run had even really started.

Upon closer inspection Airik's ranger seemed tired a few tell tale signs a tiny bit of sleep in the corner of her eye and a general dishevelled appearance, it was also rather early and she had probably been woken at short notice to cover for Tai who now was but a small speck in the distance. "Hello, I'm Dr. Stormgrad" he said nodding in her direction as a way of an introduction. He eyed her up and down and went back to thinking about how to deal with this Corpish, Cacturne couldn't move or use any status inducing and stat boosting moves due to the taunt that Corpish had performed earlier.

Airik had an Idea he needed to lure the Corpish in again so Cacturne could hit it with a more powerful close range attack, "Cacturne Use Pin Missile" the idea here was for Cacturne to anger the Corpish into attacking once again, the Pin Missile attack would not do anything other than anger the small crustacean which is how Airik wanted it Angry and not thinking. "Right Cacturne when it attacks wait for it to hit you then counter with Revenge" Airik thought this plan out Revenge was a super effective fighting type move that did more damage after being attacked it should be enough to take out what was left of the smaller pokemons fighting spirit.

Airik hoping that this might be the opportune moment began to rummage around in his bag looking for one of his Park balls, he found one lodged in the corner of his bag and grabbed it pulling it out and raising it in the air. Airik turned to this new ranger "If Cacturne can weaken this Corpish significantly I'm going to attempt to capture it. Airik hoped his new ranger was ok with this, not knowing her he was not sure on where she would stand on his capture methods. "Do you have any advice?" he asked his New ranger hoping she might have some kind of insightful input

Ranger Sammy


The Trainer seemed to notice me for the first time, and nodded in my direction.


"Hello, I'm Dr. Stormgrad" He said. I already knew that, I did read the name of the trainer, and in this case, it was only the only thing I had read on that file. Files tended to be boring, and I hand places to be today! I was going to introduce myself to Dr. Stormgrad, but he seemed a bit busy with the battle he was fighting.


"Cacturne Use Pin Missile" He Yelled to his Pokemon "Right Cacturne when it attacks wait for it to hit you then counter with Revenge" The Scarecrow Pokémon raised its arms up into the air, and the pins on the tips of its arms started glowing they started growing, and soon a round of needs was fired at the red water type. Said Pokemon was now running at the Cacturne, I guessed that it was happy that it didn't have to make the first move. Another round was fired at Corphish, and this one also hit. A third round was fired, but Corphish jumped out of the way, and into the air. The thorns stopped glowing and returned back to normal size.


The Corphish was glowing a white and blue color and it flew though the air. The attack it was using was called Aerial Ace, and seemed kinda redundant, since Cacturne was rooted to the spot, and wasn't going anywhere fast. I would guess that Corphish was choosing that move because it would be effective against. It was just showing that even at a disadvantage type wise, it could still land a few good hits in. The Corphish slammed its claws into the towering grass type, doing a nice chunk of damage. Cacturne wasn't ready to let Corphish get away with a free hit. It started glowing red, and slammed another hit into Corphish. Corphish was tossed back by this attack, and skidded to a halt in the sand. Soon it started doing a little dance. It was kinda cute. It looked like Corphish was somehow getting stronger, and I released It was doing Swords Dance, a move that woulds sharply raise the user's attack.


"If Cacturne can weaken this Corpish significantly I'm going to attempt to capture it." Airik said as he pulled a pokeball out of his bag "Do you have any advice?"


"Well, that is was most people do," I said, "Weaken it and and toss a ball at it, I would recommend trying to put it to sleep or freeze it, but I don't think that Cacturne has any moves that are able to do that. Also, I'm Sammy." I watching waiting to see what Airik's next move would be.

Airik watched as the Corpish began to charge towards Cacturne, for such a small pokemon Corpish was rather speedy as it approached to attack. It Started to glow just at the same time as Cacturnes needles began to grow untill the pressure caused them to shoot out like a missile. The missile come needle struck the Water and Dark type pokemon and then a second with pinpoint accuracy however Corpish was warned and began to leap and bound getting ever closer to Cacturne as it closed the distance a third needle shot forth Corpish jinking at the right moment to avoid the hit. That is when the Ruffian pokemon collided with Cacturne striking it square on with a super effective attack.

Airik was deep in thought and silently blown away by how tough the Corpish was when a voice from behind broke his trail of thought.

"Well, that is was most people do," I said, "Weaken it and and toss a ball at it, I would recommend trying to put it to sleep or freeze it, but I don't think that Cacturne has any moves that are able to do that. Also, I'm Sammy."

"Hello Sammy, and regardless of if my Cacturne knew any status inducing moves it likely wouldn't use them. His a very aggressive pokemon add into that the fact that Corpish not long ago used taunt I severely doubt that Cacturne will obey any command other than to attack its foe. No my only choice now as a responsible trainer is to step in before the Corpish makes a brave, heroic and ultimately futile last stand." with that Airik tossed the parkball he had towards the Corpish crossing his fingers hoping to capture the pokemon to add to his collection.

Airik nodded in approval that was in his mind a well executed Aerial ace the pokemons choice of moves so far had been excellent in its attempts to counter the bigger Grass type, however thats when Cacturne struck as Corpish hit him he grabbed the smaller Water type and threw him away into the sand with enough force that the Crustacean like pokemon skidded for a about half a dozen feet before coming to rest. Still undeterred the Corpish began to perform a little dance. If Airik had to guess he would say that this move was swords dance, Corpish down but not out was boosting its attack getting ready for some sort of last stand with Cacturne.

Ranger Sammy


Airik Pulled out a small ball, and tossed it at the Pokemon. The ball flew at the water type, and the water type ducked, making the ball fly right over its head. The water type looking like it could be laughing, before the ball hit a rock, went flying up into the air, and hit the Corphish on the back of her head. It sucked the Water type into the ball, and it fell on the ground. The ball wiggled, once, twice, three times. The ball let out a sound that sounded a lot like a "ping" and stopped shaking.


"Nice job," I say as I walk over to pick up the ball, "That was the first pokemon you've caught out here, right?" I look around, the Cacturne was releasing its roots from the soil, and was done with the battle. It looked a little tried from the fight, but it looked okay over all.


"As I said before, I'm Sammy," I said. "And I'll be trying to take you through the rest of this run.I'm not really sure where Tai had to run off to, and I really don't think that matters. So, you want to rest here or keep on walking?"
