IC: I tightened the dark grey scarf around my neck, trying to keep the warmth trapped. I was glad I had come prepared for this. My large wool coat was on top of my sweater, which was on top of my long sleeve shirt. I pulled my beanie down a little bit and fixed the itchy beard we were required to wear.

"I still think they're trying to have a laugh by making us wear these things." I grumbled. My large hellhound companion nodded in agreement as he laughed at me.

I wasn't sure what drove me to take on this mission, but I knew it would help me get stronger. Doing this would help me train and bond with my Pokemon, which was what I wanted. I rechecked my bag to make sure I had all of my necessary items. Once I verified, I took off towards the woods area of the Park, the area I had volunteered to check out first on my mission. Whatever was in store for us, we were ready to take it on.

"That's the Woods up ahead, boy." I said, feeling a small piece of hail hit me on my head. "Well, we're going to have to change this weather up a bit, if that's even possible." Shadow nodded and growled as a larger chuck hit his back, wasn't anything major though.

I looked at the hundreds of snow covered trees in the area. Most of them were bunched up together, which was going to make the space for any kind of battle difficult. I searched for a suitable path that we could walk through safely.

"Look Shadow, there's a good spot we can go through." I called out, pointing to a wider area. The trees there were at least fifteen feet apart. Shadow howled happily as he made his way to the path. "Wait for me." I called out laughing as I picked up the pace. I noticed it was getting harder to walk, which meant the snow was getting deeper. Shadow had stopped just at the entrance of the trail, growling at something up ahead.

"What is it boy?" I called out. It took me a while to spot the small brown worm on a brown tree. "It's a Weedle, how cute."

"Weeedle!" It hissed.

"Something's ticked it off." I said. "Let's try and go around it." I moved several feet to the left, not taking my eyes off of it. The Weedle jumped to another tree that was closer to use and hissed again. "Looks like it wants to battle. You up for this boy?"

"Grrr." Shadow growled, moving forward.

"Ha, I thought so." I said. "Start us off with Dark Pulse, if it shoots any threads at you, burn it with Ember, but be careful not to melt any snow, we don't want it to fall on us." Shadow nodded in agreement and closed his eyes. A few seconds later, they shot open and were completely black. A small ring shot out his mouth and towards the Weedle.

Shadow's Dark Pulse hit the Weedle, doing as much damage as I expected. What I didn't expect was for it to react as quickly as it did. It fired a Poison Sting attack, which it fired pretty fast. The attack hit Shadow, but he didn't seem phased much by the attack.

"Good Job Shadow, you did great." I called out, praising him. I always felt that doing so made the Pokemon feel more confident in its abilities therefore making them much stronger. "Now use Flamethrower." Shadow nodded and began forming the flames in his mouth.

"Wait!" I called out as I noticed where the Weedle was standing. It was on a different tree, that had a lot of snow on it, most of which looked as if it were about to fall. "Direct for Flamethrower not only at the Weedle, but at the snow above it. The snow should melt off and knock the Weedle off, some of the snow may even bury it under." Wagging his tail, Shadow launched the Flamethrower towards the Weedle, which I hoped would be trapped underneath the snow after this attack.

The Weedle lept at the last moment, taking some damage. Lucky it did or it would've for sure been knocked out. It had used Poison Sting again as a return attack. Though it didn't do much damage, I didn't want it attacking my Pokemon because every health point was going to count sooner or later and I didn't know what was in store for us.

"Shadow, good job, keep it up." I called out again. "Flamethrower again, but focus your attack more on the snow this time. That should cause it to fall down just like the Waterfall attack, just with snow. If it melts then it'll just be a Waterfall attack, either or works for us. That should cause the damage we need to escape." Shadow quickly created flames in his mouth and launched it at the snow in the tree above the Weedle.

Shadow's flames worked just as I had expected. The snow above the Weedle fell on top of it, knocked out two red Santa hats. "Weird." I said, picking up the two items. I saw the snow pile Weedle was under begin to shake. "Let's get out of here before it comes too." Shadow nodded and walked in front of me, keeping a sharp eye around him. The Woods was getting thicker and much darker as we ventured forward, which made sense. "Shadow, can you light it up a bit here."

The hellhound opened his mouth and created a small ball of fire which lit up the area in front of me. "Thanks buddy!" I said. Short after the small portion was lit, I could hear something coming our way. "Shut the light o-" I began to whispered, but he was already a head of me as he shut the light off. We stood our ground and waited for whatever was approching to make itself visable.

A large blue dinosaur looking Pokemon came charging from out left side. I took one look at it and knew I didn't want Shadow battling it. Not that he couldn't take it, I know he could easily win if I left him in, but I wanted Midender to have a go.

"Shadow, stand down." I called out. He looked at me with pleading eyes, but immediatly stepped back. "I know you want to battle, and I know you can win, I just want Mindbender to have a go against this Pokemon so that she can see what we're up against. Don't worry, I'll use you again soon buddy." Shadow barked happily and stood by my side. I placed the two Santa hats in my backpack and pulled out a blue and geen Pokeball. I tossed it in front of me and a tall green and white humanoid Pokemon appeared before me. Her white ballroom gown swayed from side to side as she focused on the her opponent. The Nidoqueen didn't waste anytime, it started off by launching a Sandstorm attack. Sand came up from the white snow and twirled around her head.

"Mindbender, use Psychic on the snow on the ground to knock away the Sandstorm attack. Then follow it up with a Psychic attack directly on it." I called out.

"Gar-de-voir." She began to chant. Her psychic powers lifted snow off of the ground as it launched forward to collide with the Sandstorm. If that worked, Mindbender would then attac it with a powerful Psychic attck. Usually what she did was lift it off of the ground and slam it hard, or use an item near by it to do so. In this case, I guessed that she was just going to use the snow in her Psychic attack, I waited and watched.

The Nidoqueen had stopped our attack with Earth Power, which caused it to take less damage than I had expected. I didn't want Mindbender to take anymore damage, so I knew I had to take on a more defensive strategy if I wanted to end this with as much health points as possible.

"Okay Mindbender, we're going to try something else." I called out to her. She turned her head towards me, keeping her right corner of her eye on the Nidoqueen in case it tried something. "I want you to use Double Team and Confuse Ray with a Calm Mind in the end. You don't have to attack it just yet. Perhaps we can weaken it a little by not attacking it and raising our evasion. She'll struggle to find out which one is the real you. We won't actually have to attack... not yet anyways."

The Psychic Pokemon grinned as she raised her arms above her head and began the replication sequence. She would use her Psychic powers to make illusions of herself. Then she would launch a colorful ray of energy at the blue dinosuar, confusing it which would definitelty throw it of. After she did that Mindbender would clear her thoughts and focus on the battle, raising her special attack and special defenses which would give us a good advantage. I was hoping the first two moves work perfectly because then Mindbender's chances of getting hit would sky rocket.
