Thread: Tournament Ideas

I think you guys are referring to this thing. It worked pretty well tbh despite the different positions etc, although it was still simple whilst Xali's idea is pretty complicated and kinda confusing and i dont see working :x

Are you seriously suggesting we only add one thing to an otherwise completely normal tournament? THAT'S NOT HOW WE PITCH IDEAS! Everything should be complicated, pointless and confusing. No-one should even bother entering because they wont understand the 8 pages of rules, or wont be bothered to read them. Why are we even using Pokemon anyway? EVERY OTHER TOURNAMENT USED POKEMON. COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL.

Yeah I like the double elimination idea.

Getting rid of the Pokemon would barely be original. REMEMBER DUEL ISLAND?

Pokemon on motorcycles, get with the program.

If anything, we could bring back those generic tourneys.

Gen I vs II vs III vs IV vs V

I know we haven't had one for B/W and these are always fun.
Let us vets use the pokemon we grew up with and teach these young whippersnappers which generation is really the best one. :P

Since I'm pretty sure it won't get picked, I guess I'll just put my own idea out there :P

I call for a random rolling tournament, where each challenger has to face a certain person at some point. Basically, each person will get a number; and another will be rolled for them to fight someone else.

(I.E: Alaska gets 10, while Monbrey gets 24 and WTP gets 33. Alaska has to target 24, while Monbrey has to target 33.)

Now, each person has someone different depending on the roll: Alaska has to fight Monbrey while the latter has to battle WTP, or something of that nature.

Each person must defeat the other to be capable of advancing, obviously. Draws do not count, and the Trainers will have to rematch one another.

We've got those standard BW/BW Revo rules, but you are capable of choosing two Pokemon from the Complex, Demanding, and Merciless tiers of stories each; effectively making six. Each Pokemon can have a choice of six TMs/HMs and five BMs/STs/etc. for them to use.

Items and such are only able to be used if you yourself have them (however, I may change this rule if this ever gets off).

Each person you defeat, you gain the use of a Pokemon they chose. Each round will consist of a random type of condition: Auto-Weather, Doubles/Triples (maybe even Rotation), DW Abilities only, etc.

The ending result of the tournament should be letting the winner keep one of the Pokemon they used + any four TMs and BMs of their choosing.

Anyway, that's my idea.

I was thinking an idea that can be put into a tournament, or used along side other tournament ideas. The can also be used by themselves. I shall explain

a list of mons (maybe 10) are given and people have to choose 6 of them to use for the tournament. This style could be implemented into bracketed tournys

Another idea is have people decide on a team of mons (abilities and items chosen as well) before the tourny starts. They have to use this team through the whole tourny. Im thinking this could be done with Keldeo style tournys. I think it could give trainers with not as many mons a chance.

Battle factory was cool

Some of my favorite tournaments from the past. Unless we are against reusing ideas.

Simply Stiktastic Tournament - Basically you picked Pokemon from each 3 of the tiers and were randomly rolled 1 of each tier for your battle.

Not Another Generic Tournament - Basic single elimination tournament. Could do double elimination if enough interest

Dream Tournament - Pick a team of any Pokemon you want. All Pokemon have all extra moves. Basic tournament from then on.

GameBoy Tournament - Use GameBoy rules (4 moves per Pokemon) in your battle. Although no one ever likes this. :[

So very, very seconded. Or thirded or w/e

I'm totally open to reusing idea, though I'd love if it was possible to put a new spin on them somehow.

I'm just very apprehensive about doing anything that's a bracketed system. Bracket tournaments have a severe tendency to wither and die.

I like these ideas. Newbs would be able to do it, too.
