    Default How is this fair?

User A switches from Gyarados to Scizor
User B attacks with Swampert against User A’s Pokémon with Rock Slide
User B didn’t realize that Swampert didn’t have have Rock Slide, yet the ref still conducted the turn and User A called User B out on it.
In the end, User B was not allowed to move for that turn while User A got a free switch
All of this happened while User B only had 2 legitimate options: The Rock Slide which wasn’t available, or Stone Edge which was.

If you couldn’t tell by now, this was a real scenario involving me and I’m outraged at the result. Instead of realizing the obvious, my opponent Pidge says I intended on cheating or that there was always the possibility… I’ve been in the URPG for over 2 years, almost 3. I think there’s a difference between when someone like me may attempt to cheat and when superbro12479 who just joined yesterday tries to. Because of this sequence of events, I pretty much went from an advantage in the battle to finding myself in a deep pile of shxt. But you know what the funny part is, our very own mod, Leman gave permission for our ref, Eraizaa to choose between a failed turn on my part, or a redo which is obviously unfair as well. Last time I checked, part of the ref test was pointing out when a battler attempted to use a move that he/she did not have. But hey, there’s no justice in punishing the ref now, is there? No, no! Punish the battler instead because it’s completely his/her fault. Does anyone understand where I’m coming from yet?

This was not a just for fun battle. It was a tournament with higher stakes. I’m not being a whiney bxtch because I lost. I don’t care if it was only the first round because it would have been the hardest matchup I would have to go up against anyway. So now, URPG officiating and moderating crew, answer this basic question with a just answer:

How was this fair? Do you not trust your members? Do you think we all cheat because we can? No. So go fxck yourself because in the end, Pidge is gonna show up and put up his defense in a giant post, and because everyone loves him and hates me, because there’s never been such a thing as disagreeing with a couple of choices made by another official/mod, that’s an automatic jurisdiction for his and Eraizaa’s benefit.

While I agree with you that it's hardly fair, and that Eli should have caught it, we can't just say that just because you're an older member, we won't enforce the same standards on you. The only two options, either skip your move or re-do the turn, you've called unfair. And we can't just let you get by and use Rock Slide instead, because you don't own that move on your Swampert. If we did, then how would that be fair to Pidge, and for that matter how would it be fair to any of the younger people who do make the mistake, who also weren't cheating, and who then get smacked down for it?

Now, I agree with you that Eli should face consequences for this, perhaps some kind of probation or at worst suspension. I also agree that Pidge was completely out of line for even implying that you were cheating without any proof or basis in the accusation. But frankly, you made the mistake. It's as much your fault for using it as it is Eli's fault for not catching it. And I agree with Leman's ruling, not just because of the rule of law (same rules apply to everybody), but because it was your own damn mistake which caused the situation in the first place.

Edit: We know Near. BMG is much more lax on swearing than PE2K.

    as expected

and for the record, pidge even admitted he would've been fine with rock slide but frankly, he looked like he needed and wanted the upper hand with a failed turn

You didn't own Rock Slide. You didn't buy it. You shouldn't be allowed to use it. I don't care if you weren't cheating, in the anime if you tried to use a move your Pokemon didn't have it would turn around and give you a WTF look, in the games if you tried it... you couldn't even try it, so why the hell should URPG give you an exception just because you have seniority?

I'm not asking for an exception, I'm asking who came up with this rule because if they're in driving distance, I will gladly try to find them and knock a tooth out. It's a bullshxt rule that should have been sorted out and fixed in the early days. But I thank you for contributing to the members consisting of my final paragraph there.

Can I ask when did you guys realize that the move was illegal? Like one turn later or two hours later?

After the dice was rolled and Eraizaa said "Hit"

Then you guys could have just went back half a turn and resend moves.

    ._.

EDIT: Though, I'm with Leman. Because seriously, although ref tests do test illegal moves, I can tell you outright that almost no referees check whether the opponent really has the moves. They normally only check to see if the Pokemon actually gets the move, but few checks to see if he has the TM unless it's really obvious. It's normally the battlers that notices it. There was only two option; failed turn or redo. I'd normally make it a failed turn if I was two hours late, but redo if it was like a few turns back only. Anyway, I can only tell you to suck it up tbh. To be blunt, it is the referee's fault, and also your fault, that the illegal move was selected, although you can't make illegal moves in the games. But referees are humans, and humans are prone to making mistakes. I can only say you're not the only one. :f

And yeah, we need to make some sort of fixed solution on these kind of issues. :|

You tried to use a move that you didn't have and then you got to see what my move was. When this happens, and refs ask me to redo the move, it fucking pisses me off. Now you know I clearly had intentions on switching, and yes, I could not switch and use a different move the second time around, but that is bullshit. Often times I have to play mind games or surprise the opponent to win, and if you get to see my move free of charge, and then I have to choose carefully again what to do, that's bullshit. If you send in an illegal move, your move should fail.

FYI, in that battle, it didn't make a difference if you hit Scizor with Stone Edge or Rock Slide, unless SE got a crit. The important part was Rock Tomb missing a turn later.

And as I said before, that was the other move I was debating with. I only chose Rock Slide because of the accuracy, but since you just said it wouldn't have mattered unless for CH, and since I even asked for that option, you still chose not to go with the failed turn to get your own way. That turn had more meaning than you know.

This is just falling into a flame war. Erizaa should have caught the mistake, but he didn't. Its his call as to what he does next time. In the end its your fault, ted, for using a move you did not have.

    ...Eraizaas not getting probationed/suspended.
