Re: Basic Battles Being Reffed
It seems that we can all agree we need more refs. And I'm aware of tons of people who want to become refs, so I think it is fair to say that issue is sorted. But the mentality of older refs is another issue.
So, here is the final time: Shall we give refs an incentive to get them to ref basics/battles in general, and if not, what do you suggest in turn?

Re: Basic Battles Being Reffed
I dont mind refing involved basics for new players, since I understand that they arent just looking for a quick evo, they genuinely want to be involved in the game.
Most older players understand and simply want 2HKO, so this is not a problem.
However one repeated comment in this thread has made me rage a bit, suggesting referee's "SHOULD" ref basics.
As Ataro said above "Reffing is a voluntary thing." We SHOULD ref whatever we want to. There is no obligation, and it isnt our job or duty. Our payment is, for all intensive purposes, IMAGINARY MONEY. Yes, I get paid a lot of it. To buy more imaginary stuff with. I suggest you all go in to work the next day and tell your boss he can pay you with imaginary money for a week, and see how much you actually want to do what he asks you.

Most refs don't ref basic battles simply because they're boring. I know that they need to be done, but as Monbrey and Ataro said, reffing is voluntary, so refs can ref whatever they want.

Re: Basic Battles Being Reffed
How is becoming a ref going to fix the problem for yourself. You can't ref your own basic battles. A better suggestion is to make someone else become a ref so they can ref for you.
