Basic Battles Being Reffed

Hello everyone.

I, along with many others, have noticed this issue that we currently face in the URPG: Everyone is always getting basics, but there are never that many refs wiling to ref them.

They do have fair reason to do so: reffing is meant to be high paying, and basic battles only provide them with $500.
However, as many refs don't ref these battles, it puts lots of strain onto people such as Monbrey, Bumblebee, Trainer17 and DrStubbsberg, who usually ref these battles. They have to devote a lot of time to reffing them, and, due to this, they are unable to get battles for themselves.

After discussing this issue with some people, we have thought up an idea to get them to ref: making basic battles into a mini-competition.
Once the refs wages are calculated at the end of every fortnight I believe, the person who has reffed the most basic battles is given a reward, such as a daycare pass, an item or TM, or a basic Pokemon of their own.

I think this is a useful way to try and get more basic battles reffed, and to spark up more reffing as well. I, along with others, understand why refs may not ref sometimes, but it is unfair to put lots of strain on other people who probably don't need it.

So, discuss what you think of this idea, and any other ideas to try and fix the reffing situation.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea for refs. I would probably most definitely get more people motivated to ref some basic battles. It depends on whether or not the person who does wages would be willing to count the numbers up. I can't really say more on the subject, mainly because I don't really know much more. But I'd like to throw another possibility out there:

Give me a license to ref basic battles. :D

I do the wages, and I'd probably win all the rewards.

It would encourage people to ref basics. SO YEAH.

... I'm not too sure about this. Reffing has always been a self-voluntary job and if you really have difficulties finding basic battles, I'd honestly just find a "buddy" ref and get him to ref for me 7 OHKOs. They don't pay, but chances are that you can get an evolution within 7 minutes.

Best solution is still for people to take ref tests and become referees themselves. ^_^

Um Aaro, in case you haven't noticed, no one wants to do Ref Test. Myself, HiPS and Neon couldn't get one for the last few days :'/

The answer to this problem is to get more refs. As we have seen, most of the refs that are newer are more willing to ref basics opposed to the more senior refs. If your having difficulty getting a ref test i suggest try and sort out a time to get tested with one of the senior refs.

2HKO's are just as easy and still pay. Hell, if people just use the same two moves, I dont even have to calc, I can just copy and paste the stats 7 times.

Honestly I don't think it would be much of a problem to find basic battles if some people didn't do retarded moves and stall. But no, there shouldn't be a reward for reffing basic battles

Problem with that is the refs might start to only ref the basics, or they'd get two of their friends and abuse it, like 1v1's fully evolved were abused until they no longer pay.

Easy solution; More refs.

Like with Crazy, I think only Synthesis asked me, and it was yesterday when I was sorting out some stuff. Other than that, I've only had Kaioo asked me before.

You can always try sending me a PM to hopefully fix a time for a test if you can't find me on AIM anyway.

Fair points guys. I was discussing this with HKim, and we both thought that if people were unwilling to ref basic, an incentive would be a nice idea to do them. People do still like to get paid for these battles, so I don't think doing a bunch of OHKO's would work either, especially as then the ref would only get .5K still.

But do you guys think an incentive would work, and why or why not?

Incentive would only work if we were given a story mon, and that would be completely unfair considering were already paid a fortune.

that's why a you don't need an incentive.
