Thread: TPW Preparation Discussion

This is basically for those interested in the contest section of the URPG who want to help put forth ideas before the official expansion over to TPW. Questions, ideas, concerns and stuff is all welcome here. Looking forward to input.

I wanna help the Contest board out in any way for the preparation. If we can make a good first impression, the TPWers may take more of a shine to it than us BMGers have.

I would help trying to promote the Contest section, maybe we could do an example forum contest (R/S/E and D/P/Dpt) to show how they are done and what they need to do.

Also, we need a way to eliminate the Curse/DBond combo, or people are going to get turned off from the contests pretty hard, pretty fast when they learn there's an almost surefire way to win any R/S/E contest (especially with the newly-implemented Nervous Clause switched on, which pretty much disables the only check to that combo). That combination pretty much takes out any strategy from R/S/E.

Are we using your idea @AmericanTreeFrog ? The Starter Thread combines with Contest Starter Thread?

Out of curiousity, is the contest section going to be pushing the BW contest format more than the other ones?

If you're referring to the CC automatically given out when they sign up then yes, I plan to ask Harry and the rest if we can combine them so when they automatically sign-up they would get them.

To a certain extent yes, I will want the new people to see this alternative style of contesting. That being said, RSE and DP will be getting a fair share of attention also.

The only thing I can think of is a combo clause, but the RSE and DP styles rely on those, but if people want a clause I'll add it readily enough.

Someone wants more money. As a judge, it's your job to do even more contests then, to earn your pay =P

The reason I'm sticking by is that more people would want to become Judges if the pay was a little bit better. THREE B/W JUDGES ISN'T REALLY ENOUGH.

Well, since there hasn't been much in the way of ideas so far, I'll put a few forth.

What do you guys think of hosting a small auction/raffle of Contest stuff or the newbies that will be joining? I'm also going to be hosting the annual Grand Festival around the summer months also, it's going to have a twist that none of the other ones have had before.

The contest event a few years ago was pretty cool - it had raffles, giveaways, quizzes, auctions, festivals. I suggest an event like this to grab the attention of the TPWers.

I'm going to try and judge a lot of contests early on to try and spark interest, and hopefully other judges will do the same.
