    Default Discussion: Removing Repel Limits

    National Park Discussion #1
    Repellents

Currently, there are certain repellents you can't use in certain areas. These are:
    Ice/Fighting in Oktori
    Flying/Normal in Heavens
    Water in Lakes
    Electric in Power Plant

    Should these limits be removed?

Originally this rule was put in place because a repellent makes the mon list a Trainer can encounter very short. However, because the MCR rule is now in place, a Trainer would still have to work for each mon even if they wanted three of a very rare one (like PZ, for example).

Some of these, like Flying in Heavens or Water in the Lakes make the lists pretty ridiculous (like under ten mons ridiculous), but what do you think? Do you think the work required for each mon would make up for increasing the odds of encountering them?

Honestly, with the exception of Oktori, I think they're fine the way they are.

I think that only the limits for Oktori should be removed. It still leaves them with a pretty decent list, and at least you can't potentially get every 'mon, seeing as there's about 24/25 when you use either repellent. As for Flying in Heavens, no way - Water could be viable, but it would probably be counter-productive seeing as the main attraction to the Great Lakes is their Water-type association. Electric in Power Plant is so-so, seeing as you do still have some form of RP without it becoming boring, and it's still quite unlikely you'll uncover 3 Porygon-Zs in one run or whatever, and you still do have a lot of Poison-types coming up.

MEH. I'd say just remove the Oktori repellent limits.

I'd say lose them or change the effect slightly so it doesn't have that great an effect.

As previously mentioned I'm fairly sure most should stay the same, but maybe just drop the Oktori repellent stuff. As for chainging it erm, the only thikn I can think of is maybe making so we can deactivate them ... maybe a new item that needs to be purchased to wash the repellent away or something?

    Haha, Repellent Repellent.

We could always change the Repellent so it fades after x number of encounters. Or we could introduce varying strengths of Repellent; Basic (which lasts 5), Enhanced (which lasts 10), and Full (which would last the entire trip). That way if people want to still have all Mon available but want to focus on a specific Type or family first, they have that option.

Meh, it would probably be more hassle than it's worth.

I'm all for removing the restriction on Oktori, I don't know why it would have had a limit placed on it to begin with. @ the Lakes and Outer Heaven, I think those should stay in place. Kinda 50/50 on the Plant; comparing it to Oktori, it has about 18 available Mon (including Legends) when repelling Electric Mon, while Oktori has like 23 or something like that after Repelling Fighting. Dunno about this one yet, I'll do some rolls and stuff and see how it looks.

I think they should stay as they are.

I had an idea for the encounter list, but as I wrote it out, it sounded dumb ;[

Anyways, how about something that attracts a certain type.

To be honest, I think partial-run Repellants aren't needed and probably wouldn't be bought in the store that much. Let's just leave it as it is.

However, regarding the type limits, I am definitely all for removing the Oktori limits. Leave the others on though, including the Plant - last time the Park was shut down was because someone brought out three Porygon-Zs. I can totally see that happening again <_<

You mean like Pokéblocks or w/e they used in R/S/E? I think there was something like that in HG/SS too. I remember putting rocks and sticks on the field. I think these would be fun to work on.

That was also when MCR wasn't installed iirc, but I don't want it happening again either. The rate to encounter PZ is bumped up to a little over 31% when an Electric Repellent is used versus its normal 1.25% rate of showing up on the list right now. They still would have to do the work for each one I guess, and the Ranger could just be a little harsher/stricter in battle habits on subsequent ones if necessary. I mean really, it's unlikely that just two mons (the common number a lot of people bring in on first/second trips) would capture three Special rank Pokémon with ease. They would probably be too hurt to really battle, and if all their mons fainted, they'd get escorted out. At least it would make Trainers prepare and be a little more creative. Bringing in more mons opens up opportunities for that.

Still, the only one I really have an issue with is Oktori. The Plant, just maaaaybe, but probably not. I think the Lakes and Heavens are fine the way they are. I don't remember when the Oktori one was installed. I think it's silly.

In regards to the Plant, let's just put this out there. With Electric repellent there's 18 Mons. 3 of which belong to the Porygon line and then not to mention you could bring 3 Porygon Disks, or use a Normal type Elemental Orb and you will just be encountering Porygon, Porygon2 and le P-zs non-stop. I know you still have to work for these 'mons but yeah, pretty redundant in having them be some of the rarest Pokemon around and so easily obtained.

I'd think that you could remove the limit against Normal Repellent in the Outer Heavens, too. There's about 21 'mons left if you repel Normal-types, so it still seems kinda viable.

As what everyone else said, remove the Oktori limits and keep the ones at the Lakes/Heavens (though allowing normal-type repellents at the Heavens is okay - you know how much we hate encountering those marts XDXD). The Plant.. well... I say leave it as it is. Trainers could just buy dem disks and keep coming back to the Plant - like what Bee does. XD So, no apparent need for removing the limit there - it'd just make their life a whole lot easier. If they really wanted a Porygon, they'd spend on disks and really roleplay. Disks are helping them enough already, I believe.
