Thread: URPG Stories Chat and Feedback

Just Like to ask a question: Can two people Co-write a story? Or something along those lines. For Instance, one person writes 1 chapter, the other writes the next, for 1 or 2 chapters, then they meet, and they all finish up together? Is that possible, or could it happen?

To answer the Winter Writing Competition question. Either Aerodactyl, or like a Machop and Remoraid story, or something.

That would also be an interesting idea. You could take that in a ton of directions. What were you thinking of?

I too am not a potato :( And interesting idea Scourge: I think something like that would be interesting as a fantasy-murder story or with some sort of dramatic battle!

I'm taking it in a "cultural norms developed by a semi-futuristic high society, which consists entirely of stage magicians, are challenged when genuine magic becomes available because of Pokémon (still working on the how and why of that). The cultural instability, and the ramifications of people possessing excessive power, leads to civil war. Because the country is more or less a superpower, other countries, who do not have the high society magician element, but have been mysteriously gaining Pokémon-related skills, hold a vested interest in the outcome of war. What is more or less a world war breaks out. Fast forward a few years... and you have a task force of inoperative soldiers circulating in the illusionists' circles and attempting to protect the man who could end the war. The political and cultural reasons leading to (and ending) the war will be expanded upon amidst intrigue, gun-spraying, magic, and lies" sort of direction. DO I SOUND LIKE AN ADVERTISEMENT OR WHAT.

It's basically a prelude type thing to a big project that I want to work on, but need to straighten out background details for. And the best way to straighten out background details is to write about them, then scrap all of it and make new ones.

Yup, it's fantasy-murder. But with politics. And a bit of... punk. Not cyberpunk or steampunk--somewhere in between.

That sounds amazing. And hey, advertisement works for a reason. I would definitely read it. And yes, writing and scraping and rewriting is basically my life. Good luck with that.

'n yeah. It's not even so much writing, destroying, and killing, as experimental "let's see how these ideas work out for when I want to write the real thing." This'll probably be a P-Z catch attempt (because every proper Head Grader ought to have a Stupefying capture under their belt). The full story will be... 30k words, I'm estimating. Novella-ish. And that'll be set fifteen years post-war, focusing on this weird thing that happens with this one character. I'm writing the prelude fic to work out why the weird thing happens, and what the post-war cultural dynamics are. Heh. AND GOOD TO KNOW YOU WOULD READ.

It's nice to experiment first. Sometimes I write small little blurb drabble things about my characters or universe before I start writing the real thing, just to see if I like it.

Agreed :D I plan on attempting that someday too.

And of course I would read it; your fics don't hurt my brain. They may make me see strange things out of the corner of my eyes or wonder if I was just on an acid trip, but they don't hurt.
