We have two contestants! Let's see what happens with this, eh?
Hello, everybody!
It seems that it's my turn to run a writing contest, this one being the spring edition. It will be a little different from the previous ones we've had here at the URPG Bulbagarden branch. That's because this one is a
COLLABORATION CONTEST!
That's right, the name of the game is doubles fanfiction! Find a partner, write a story together, and submit it by the deadline for critique. That may sound like English class to some of you, but it's got Pokémon in it. Pokémon makes everything better, and that's why we're all here, right?
These are the specifics:
Rule 1:
TWO-PERSON RULE
This is a
doubles competition. Split the work however you want, but it has to be two people. I could go into the spiel about the Holy Hand-Grenade of Antioch, but nobody wants that.
Rule 2:
ANONYMOUS RULE
Just like
the previous edition on PE2K, this contest is blind: nobody will know who wrote which story until the end. Because of this,
you must PM your story to me. Do not post it yourself, even in WIP form. If a story's authors are known, it will be disqualified. I will post your stories in a special thread once judging begins.
Rule 3:
CONFIRMATION RULE
When you PM a story to me,
include both of your names at the top of the story. I will not accept a story unless
both people PM me to confirm that this is their entry. It would be hilarious if someone decided to write a story solo and then picked some random URPG'er as a partner without telling him or her. It would be even more hilarious if that story won. But, you know, we can't have that happen.
Rule 4:
LENGTH RULE
The minimum story length for this competition is
twenty thousand characters. That's a Medium-level contribution for each partner, assuming you split the writing evenly. There is no upper length limit.
Rule 5:
TARGET RULE
As an incentive for participating in this contest,
all target Pokémon will be doubled for all entries. In other words, if you submit a Hard story for 1x Farfetch'd, each of you will receive a Farfetch'd
if your grader passes it on the first try. You could, like, write a story for 6x Magikarp and end up with a full party each. What a wonderful idea. This means, though, that
Pokémon above Complex rank are not allowed for capture in this contest.
Rule 6:
ORIGINAL COLLAB RULES
Paired Writing System
This new system allows for two people (or a max of three) to write a story together for the URPG stories. Rules are subject to change, but for now, as long as you do your best to follow these, it's all good.
All authors of a paired story must aim for captures of equal difficulty and it should be clearly stated, either at the beginning or end of the story, which author intends to catch which Pokémon. In other words, if one author is trying to capture two mons for him/herself, then the other author must also attempt to capture two mons for him/herself. OR, if one author wants to go for something more difficult, the other author needs only to match the estimated character count. For example, if someone wants to capture a Medium-difficulty mon, the other author can match that with two Simple-difficulty mons for him/herself. If that's too confusing, then... just keep things balanced between the two (or three) of ya, okay? ^^;
