This is my 2nd story!
It was a quiet, serene, and tranquil day in the forest...
"I'm so hooood!!!! I wear my pants below my waist and I never dance when I'm in this place 'cause you and your man is planning to hate. I'm so hooood!!!!"
"Thank you world, for inventing hip-hop," I thought to myself while I was singing the song "I'm So Hood" by DJ Khaled as i was on my way to go fishing.
All of a sudden I heard a movement behind a nearby, flowering bush and I immediately stopped singing (in fear that someone might have heard me, which would've been quite embarrassing). I half expected someone to come out from behind the bush and exclaim, "Derek you broke my mirror, what a terrible and obnoxious voice you have."
I slowly and cautiously tip-toed over to the bush, but on my way I accidentally stepped on a twig. The twig, in turn, snapped under my weight. "I knew those nachos would come back to haunt me," I thought to myself.
I looked up and saw the last thing in the whole wide world I wanted to see; a yellow bodied Pokemon that's sporting wings. "Ahhhh!!!!" I screamed so loud that it likely shook the heavens. I quickly turned around and bolted away, not even sure of where I was running to. I agilely dodged trees, bushes, rotting logs, rocks, and that one pile of Pokemon leavings. I noticed a large tree to my left and swiftly ran around to the back of it. Panting from exhaustion, I carefuly peeked out from behind the tree and for a moment I feel so incredibly relieved that I wasn't actually being pursued. I turned around with a grin on my face that very quickly turned up-side down by what I saw. "Crazy, pursuing, Combee!" I yelled.
I ran out from behind the tree and began sprinting as fast as I could. "Why do bees always do this to me, I thought." I started to remember my last unfortunate bee encounter, in which a wild Chimchar (that later became my first Pokemon) saved me from a swarm of terrible Beedrill.
"Where's Chimchar when I need it?" I thought to myself.
"If only I had a good spot to hide," I thought.
I was running out of steam, as it felt like I had ran for days. My legs felt like they could fall off at any moment and I was scraped all over from bumping into my various surroundings. When I felt as if I couldn't take one more step I saw an opening coming into view and I ran to it like a cheetah chasing a gazelle.
I abruptly skidded to a stop. Gazing down I saw a body of water that appeared to be a good one hundred feet below me. "How convenient," I thought. I was at the edge of a cliff, I suddenly realized. I looked to my left and then to my right and saw giant, brown boulders blocking my path to safety on both sides of me. I turned around and saw the Combee approaching.
"That's it," I thought to myself. "No more running!" I yelled.
I attempted to pull the only Pokeball I had with me, off of my belt, however in my haste I fumbled it and dropped it on the ground. It then proceeded to slowly roll towards the edge of the cliff before it came to a halt right on the edge. I began to run towards it, but right before I could reach down to grab it, the wind picked up and blew my only hope right off the edge of the cliff. I turned my head towards the water and looking down, saw my Pokeball fall for what seemed like ages, until it splashed into the blue abyss below.
"Of course," I thought.
Right then an idea popped into my head. I could jump off the edge of the cliff and hope to live. The idea wavered in my mind as I couldn't decide if I should take the chance on living/dieing, or face the Combee without a Pokemon of my own. Then I realized what an easy decision it was.
I turned to face the Combee. "Sayonara!" I yelled at it.
I turned back towards the water.
"Cannonball!" I shouted at the top of my lungs as I jumped off the edge of the cliff.
I was falling now, my vision was blurred by the air rushing by me and I could barely hear my own screams, as the wind also distorted my hearing. It felt like I had been in the air for an eternity and I felt scared to death. My heart was racing and it felt like it would burst. When I finally thought that I couldn't take this for one more second I unexpectedly and suddenly hit the water.
I was under the water and for a moment, I just stayed where I was, not sure if I was dead or alive. When I started gasping for breath and only got water I realized if I wasn't dead yet then I would be soon. I started to swim upwards towards the surface, when I felt something round lodge itself in my mouth. Somehow, I didn't panic and just kept swimming as the blockage in my throat kept me from inhaling any water, but I could feel the lack of oxygen quickly making me light-headed.
I was finally above the water, yet I was still having problems breathing. I then remembered that something had gotten lodged into my mouth as I was swimming and apparently was still there. I quickly reached my hand into my mouth and yanked out a wet and slimy Pokeball. "Well at least my Pokemon is safe," I thought.
"Oh...no..." I attempted to yell, but the words only came out as a mere whisper.
I slowly angled my head around so I could look over my shoulder and low and behold there was the Combee. As i was about to scream I noticed the look of deep sadness and sorrow on the Combee's face. Due to the fact that my compassion for Pokemon and their feelings is so strong, the rush of sympathy took over my mind and managed to give me the willpower to stay silent.
The Combee motioned towards the shore with its body. I was so curious now that I was determined to overcome my fear of bees and help out this innocent Combee. I put my loose Pokeball back on my belt and swam briskly to the shore following the Combee. The Combee started to fly upwards and as it neared the top of the cliff it glanced down at me with a look of anxious anticipation.
"What do I do now?" I thought to myself. "Combee is waiting for me and I'm up against a giant cliffside."
"Wait a second," I thought aloud. "I do have a way to climb the cliff!"
"Hold on, Combee, I have a plan!" I shouted up to it.
Now with a look of curious anticipation it watched as I pulled my still wet Pokeball off my belt and threw it into the air.
"Machop!" exclaimed my blue-gray, muscular Pokemon, which appeared from the thrown Pokeball.
"Now listen, Machop," I said to it. "I need you to help me get up this cliff."
Machop nodded it's head and I could tell it was willing to help. I put my arms around Machop's waist and gave the command.
"Use your Rock Climb attack to scale the cliff," I instructed Machop.
Machop then started to climb the rocky cliffside at a very brisk pace with me holding on tight. It wasn't a pleasant experience as I was constantly getting scraped by falling rubble. To make matters worse I knew if I lost my grip on Machop I would fall and likey land on the rocky shore.
"Machop?" said my Pokemon rather quizically. I opened my eyes which I had closed to keep them free of dirt and debree. My Machop was looking at me with a puzzled expression. I then realized that we had made it to the top of the cliff and my arms were still tightly clasped around his waist. I let go of Machop and then embraced it out appreciation.
"Thanks Machop," I said to my buddy.
I turned around and saw Combee which now had a look of extreme anguish on its face, and I could tell that whatever the problem I was meant to help it with was urgent.
"Machop, return," I said while holding out his Pokeball. Once I returned Machop I nodded at Combee as a signal for it to lead on.
I was having to walk rather quickly as Combee was moving quite fast through the air. "This is all seeming quite familiar," I thought to myself. I looked down at the ground and noticed footprints going in the opposite direction. I then realized that Combee was leading me back to where I first saw it. We continued past the bush that Combee originally appeared from behind. As we were continuing on this journey, with a destination unknown to me, I started to make out some sort of white and green blob in the distance that appeared to be in front of a tree. "I wonder what that is," I thought to myself. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like a distraught wail that seemed to be from the direction of that blob. Combee was moving quite fast now and I was practically jogging to keep up with it. We were moving towards the blob and as we neared it I could tell this was no ordinary blob.
All of a sudden Combee let out a cry that was answered by a familiar sound that came from the blob. "That sounds like a Pokemon I've heard somewhere," I thought.
As we neared the mysterious blob and I was able to make out its features enough to identify it as a Pokemon, I also noticed its white and green body was collapsed on the ground.
I ran up to the Pokemon which I could now tell was a Ralts and knelt down beside it. As I did, Combee flew up next to us with that worried and sad look on its face. "Is this what you wanted my help with Combee?" I asked it. Combee moved it's body up and down and I could tell that was its way of nodding "yes."
"Ralts..." groaned the Pokemon as it tried to stand up before falling back down again. "Save your strength Ralts," I told it in a calming voice. It looked up at me and I could tell by the look on its face that it was willing to accept my help. I reached down and gently placed my hand on Ralt's forehead. "Oh no!" I exclaimed. Ralts was burning up with a fever. Then I remembered what I read about healing Pokemon with natural remedies.
"Combee, do you know of any Sitrus Berry trees?" I asked it. Combee turned and faced the part of the forest towards my left. "Combee, I need to find a Sitrus Berry to help Ralts, please watch over him while I'm gone. I'll be right back, ok?" Combee flew right up next to Ralts and gave me a half-smile. I could tell it was still worried about Ralts. "Thanks Combee," I said to it.
I began to run in the general direction that Combee had showed me. All of a sudden I felt myself falling backwards as my feet came out from under me. I hit the ground hard. I lay there for a minute or two, still dazed, before I felt well enough to get up.
Then I saw what had tripped me. All around me were rotting berries. Not just any berries, but Sitrus Berries! I attempted to wipe what mashed berries I could, off of me, but most of the berry remnants stayed on my clothes in a smeared mess. Then I looked up at the trees around me, but saw nothing. "I hope the berries havn't ALL fallen down and begun rotting," I thought. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw something yellow hanging from a branch of a nearby tree. I scurried over to that tree as fast as I could without slipping on any more rotten berries.
Then reality set in. I knew there was no way to get to the lone Sitrus Berry which had to be a good 5 feet out of my reach. "If only there was a move for Machop called 'climb a tree and pick a berry,' " I thought. All of a sudden the ground started to shake.
"Snorlax!" said the giant Pokemon which was coming right towards me, one thunderous step at a time. I was too scared to move, but had the sense to cross my arms into a bracing position. I closed my eyes. All of a sudden the ground stopped shaking.
I cautiously opened one eye wondering if I had died and moved on. I saw a white stomach in front of me. I looked up and saw Snorlax pick the Sitrus Berry right off the branch. "So that's what it wanted," I thought. Then, realizing again the fact that it was the only Sitrus Berry I could find, I wondered if this outcome was going to be worse than what I had originally anticipated. Snorlax held the berry up near its face and opened its mouth.
"Wait, Snorlax!" I yelled up to it. Snorlax paused as if ready to hear whatever I had to say. "I have some yummy Pokemon food in my backpack that I am willing to trade to you for that Sitrus Berry. Just let me get it out." I opened my backpack and pulled out a bag of Pokemon food. However, when I turned to face my backpack again, so I could get out a food bowl, I heard a crackling sound. I quickly turned back towards Snorlax and watched as it popped the Pokemon food, bag and all, into its mouth. After a couple chews it swallowed and then abruptly (and loudly) sat down to take a nap.
I was dumbfounded. Then I saw something on the ground in front of the snoozing Snorlax. I picked up the Sitrus Berry and held it in the air triumphantly!
I then began to run back to where Ralts and Combee were waiting for me. I finally arrived, huffing and puffing, as I was out of breath.
"Here Ralts, try this Sitrus Berry. It will help you get your strength back and make you feel better."
Ralts managed to sit up enough with one of my hands supporting its back to take a bite out of the berry which was in my other hand.
"Ralts!" exclaimed the Pokemon with a fairly joyous tone in its voice.
"Hey, you must be feeling better Ralts, what great news," I said.
"Bzzt!" went Combee.
I looked to my left and saw Combee with a big smile on each of its three little faces, which couldn't help keep me from letting loose a big ear to ear grin of my own.
I decided to stay and watch over Ralts as it took a nap. Combee also stayed and was zipping around to all the nearby flowers. I, myself was studying about none other than, Pokemon. I was engaged deeply in my reading of an informational book about Pokemon eating habits, when I felt a tap on my arm.
Startled, I looked to my left and saw that it was Ralts that had tapped my arm. "Hey! You must be all better now, huh, Ralts?" I asked it. It nodded gleefully. I smiled to myself as I was so pleased with Ralt's speedy recovery and very thankful that I was able to help it in the first place. Then I noticed the determined and confident look in its eyes.
Combee flew over next to us. It had a look on its three faces that was similar to Ralt's. Then I realized what it was they wanted.
"Do you two want me to battle you so if I win you can both join me?" I asked them. They both nodded and said their name in an excited tone as Pokemon often do when they're agreeing. I then realized that I only had one Pokemon to use versus the two of them. "Oh well, I'll just try my best," I thought. Then realizing that Combee and Ralts were waiting for my approval to battle, I said, "Alright, I accept, let's battle!"
We all walked (except Combee, who flew) until we found an open spot in the forest without too many obstacles. This looked like a perfect battlefield to me. I walked over to one side of the clearing while Ralts and Combee went to the side opposite of me.
My adrenaline was rushing and my heart felt like it was beating at a much swifter pace than normal. I was psyched.
"Go, Machop!" I yelled as I threw my Pokeball into the air. Machop appeared from its Pokeball, and I said, "Machop, I need your help to battle Combee and Ralts, are you with me?" Machop looked at me and nodded, then it turned to face its opponents.
There was an awkward silence, which lasted for what I guessed was a minute or two. "I guess I'll make the first move," I thought.
"Machop, use Ice Punch on Combee!" I directed. As Machop began to dash towards Combee, his clutched fist began to shimmer in a bluish light as icy cold air was surrounding it.
"Combee!" exclaimed the Pokemon who took the Ice Punch attack dead on.
"Bulls-eye!" I yelled.
"Now barrage Combee with Ice Punch!" I instructed Machop. Machop began to move its fist forward again, but halted in a pose. Machop was glowing with a blue light and it suddenly looked as if it was in pain. I looked to my right and saw that Ralts was controlling Machop with its Psychic attack. "That's right!" I thought to myself. "Machop is weak to Psychic type attacks."
Although I could not see it, I imagine my face bore a look of frustration as well as worry for my Machop.
Machop was completely imobilized from moving under its own power. Then all of a sudden Ralts sent Machop flying backwards with its Psychic attack.
"Machop, are you okay?" I asked it. Machop managed to slowly get up, but that Psychic had taken its toll on him. It nodded at me as a way to say it was "ok."
"Machop use Dynamic Punch on Ralts!" I instructed. Machop slammed Ralts with a hard punch before it could use its Psychic attacks to stop him. Ralts started to stumble around.
I grinned. I could tell that Machop's Dynamic Punch had confused Ralts. Ralts turned to face Combee.
Then due to its confusion it let loose some pink colored, circular waves towards Combee, instead of attacking Machop. Combee quickly fell asleep from the attack, which I recognized as Hypnosis. "Now Machop, here's our chance, use Ice Punch on Ralts and then on Combee!" Machop unleashed two powerful Ice Punch attacks, the first of which knocked Ralts onto its back and the second which startled Combee awake and then knocked it to the ground.
I reached for two Pokeballs from my belt.
"Now's my chance," I thought.
"Go, Pokeball!" I exclaimed as I hurled the first Pokeball at Ralts and then did the same with the second Pokeball and Combee.
Both Pokeballs (which had been in mid-air from opening to get the Pokemon inside) fell to the ground and started to shake from side to side.
I anxiously waited, hopeful that I would soon have two new Pokemon to add to my collection of friends.
