I was on my way home from my job at the Pokemart, when I got a call on my Pokegear. I pulled my bright blue Pokegear out of my pocket, flipped it open, and looked at the caller I.D. WTP. Wierd name. Must stand for something. I had never heard of him, so he was probably calling to request a Pokemon to be caught. Recently, I had gotten good at catching, so I decided to start up a small time buisness of catching pokes for people that didn't have such great luck. I put my Pokegear number up everywhere, and this was probably another one of those calls.
I answered in my usual greeting. "Master's poke catching buisness, what can I catch for you today?" It wasn't a particularly great greeting, but it got the point of my buisness across pretty well. But, it seemed this particular customer was in a rush, and needed to get this done quickly.
"Listen, I really want this one Pokemon, called Lotad. But, I don't feel like getting one myself. So, I was wondering if you could go grab one up for me. I got some premium Pokemon I can trade in exchange for this thing." He said quickly, like he was in a rush to be somewhere. I didn't feel like asking what his rush was or why he wanted this Lotad so bad. It wasn't my philosophy. I caught these pokes for people, I got another one in return for this. No questions asked. And that's how the clients liked it, too. I don't get into their life; they don't get into mine.
"A Lotad? No problem, I'll go grab up one and get it to you as soon as I can. And your pokes are great you say? Then it's a deal. I can meet you at the Pokemon Center in Petalburg tomorrow morning, where we can do the trade. Deal?" I asked in as friendly a tone as I could, being that working a ten-hour shift at the Pokemart can be pretty tiring.
"Alright, that's perfect. See you tomorrow." And with that, WTP ended the call, and I had a new client. Now, all I had to do was head over to route 102, which was pretty easy, being that I lived right next to it. It wasn't hard to walk through the gates of Petalburg to the grass to find a few pokes. So I grabbed up a Pokeball containing my Ambipom, which was a good choice for the situation being that it wasn't going to brutally murder the Lotad in one shot, and Ambi hadn't seen much action in a while.
As I ran through the grasses, looking for the blue frog like thing that was a Lotad, I passed by a lake, at which I stopped to gave at my reflection. I gauged how I looked in my blue hat, blue vest, and, of course, blue jeans. A few of my blonde hairs were sticking out from underneath my cap, so I quickly tucked them back underneath it. I then continued looking for a Lotad, getting away from any other pokes that seemed to challenge me, as I didn't want to hurt anything unless I needed to. And challenges like those were no reason to start attacking poor creatures like that. So, for the sake of the creatures that lived here, I simply ignored them.
I kept walking around, looking for a Lotad. The sun was starting to set, and I realized that the deadline I had promised was tomorrow morning. I had been out there for hours, but no sign of a Lotad. Eventually, I realized that it was getting late, that I needed to head home before night fell. As I started walking back, I looked upon the lake I had passed a while ago, and how beautiful it looked with the sunset shining upon it.
As I gazed across the lake, I noticed something near the shore. A big green lilipad, with its rim standing up, and a piece missing. I stared at it for a minute, before I pulled out my Pokedex, and pointed it at the creature. It immediately responded in its annoying, high pitched voice, "Lotad, the Water Weed Pokémon. Lotad is said to have dwelled on land before. However, this Pokémon is thought to have returned to water because the leaf on its head grew large and heavy. It now lives by floating atop the water." I was about to walk away from it, when I suddenly looked back.
What did that pokedex just say? I thought to myself. Lotad? Did I finally find one? As if in answer to my silent questions, the Lotad lifted its head out of the water, and stared at me as I stared right back. "YES! FINALLY!" I yelled! "I finally found a Lotad! Now to catch it! Go, Ambipom!"
In a bright white flash, my purple, two tailed monkey appeared before my eyes. I could see the enjoyment it got out of battling after months without any battles. It was ready to bring up a fight. "Alright Ambipom! Start off with a Double Hit to weaken it a little!"
Ambipom's tails started glowing pink, then it whacked the Lotad across the face with them. The Loatd tried to avoid it, but Ambipom was just too fast, even with Lotad in the water. The Lotad then sent out a series of bubbles, trying its best to hit Ambi from a range so that it couldn't be hurt as much. Ambipom just swung its tails around like a propeller and sent the bubbles flying away. The Lotad was a little saddened by this, and backed up a little, trying to put some distance between it and ambi. Fortunately, Ambi had a little range of its own. "Ambipom, snipe it out with a nice Swift. That should weaken it enough to capture."
And Ambi did so. It shot golden stars out of its tails, which homed in on the Lotad, slashing at it until it looked weak enough to catch. So, I opened up my bag, which was also blue, and pulled out a blue great ball, and swiftly tossed it at the Lotad. It hit it head on, and in a bright red flash of light, it fell to the water, and resurfaced, floating while the red light blinked, on and off, on and off, until finally, the blinking stopped, and so did my heart, as I waited for the Pokeball to either remain still, or for it to burst open, spilling out the Lotad.
