Target Pokemon: Porygon Rotom, Houndour
Traget Length: 90K
~Three months ago~
The club was booming and bustling. Girls in cages danced above the local party goers, strobe lights flashed while techno music flared from the gigantic speakers, and the occasional drunk was thrown from the bar. It was the typical nightclub scene for any normal city. It was crowded and everyone was having a good time. The bar was crowded as many patrons became thirsty.
Two men were seen sitting on bar stools, discussing a matter while having a drink. One white and one tanned. The both of them looking not much older than nineteen in appearance. They were enjoying a conversation over a drink. The tan man always enjoyed a good rum and milk.
“Don't worry man! With your smarts and my creativity, we'll become CEO's in no time." said the backstabber. He held an evil glint in his eyes. Eyes that forewarned betrayal.
But the tan colored man just nodded. It was his friend. No thoughts of spite ever crossed his mind “Hell why not?"
A military transport helicopter zoomed across the blackened sky of Unova. Beneath them was a destroyed Huin City. The city was mostly on fire and buildings were soon about to collapse. The tan man is seen again, music blasting in his ears while he leans back against his seat. His eyes were closed but he was well aware. He let the vibrations fuse with his music.
I am the planet, the monster, anti-martyr
the balance of human, constant fire starter
He grinned at the lyrics and turned towards the cockpit. He saw his team getting ready. He was new and therefore the outcast. He watched his captain, a blond short haired female, barked out orders to the pilot and co-pilot. To his right were the demolitions experts. Both twin females with the same hair, eyes, nose and features. The only way you could tell the difference was by their nails. One had dark colors and one had light. Today was black and light blue. The always complimented each other on their nails every single day. Every. Single. Damn. Day.
Finally, it was the only other male on the team. The narcissist of all narcissists’. H e always loved to brag about his aim with the sniper rifle. Weren't snipers supposed to be silent? This one apparently wasn't. He only wanted to please himself. He also has a crush on one of the twins, claiming getting at her would be easy although he could never get her alone which made his attempts almost laughable.
I am the hunted that stalks my aggressor
I am neurosis, I am the measurements used
When it breaks, it'll all come together now
Armageddon, just a change in the weather now
Just a change in the weather? It was much more than that. Bly wondered why any destruction would befall the city. It was plain as day until the incident. This was one event that was sure to go down in the records as the worst accident of all times.
“Ear buds out Bly! Were nearing out destination." yelled the captain to the tan skinned guy. He couldn't hear her so the sniper decided to take it upon his own initiative and rip the headphones out of him. Bly snapped back to reality and looked around. Everyone was looking back at him as if he was crazy.
“Don't you all have something else to be doing?" Bly said as he grabbed a spare combat knife and rifle. Oddly enough, it was the only rifle that had a compartment for the knife, making it easy to sheath for quick draw situations.
He walked past the sniper and the twins and into the cockpit, watching the smoldering remains of the city burn even more. Peering over the shoulder of the co-pilot, he watched as citizens ran across the bridge, hoping to get to safety. Fate was sparse that day as the bridge structure began to weaken and crumble. By the time they had realized that it was falling apart, they soon were plummeting two stories into the freezing cold water below. Women, children, men, it didn't matter. Death spares no denomination.
The captain turned and spoke to Bly. She wasn't an ugly woman at all, but her hard ass, dominating nature mad many a man fear her greatly.
“State your skill and objective." she said
Ever since he was introduced into the special world of black-ops, she had made him state his skills so he would never forget just what he was capable of. He had an amazing gift that they wanted to utilize but to Bly just thought they wanted to exploit it. Either way he was twenty thousand feet in the air. He wasn’t about to complain.
“Close quarter contact. Objective is to breach the bunker under Huin city and seize the AI program before enemy forces do. Ma’Am." he said half heartedly.
No man or woman had ever talked to the captain like that. Everyone had always been their best, looked their best, they even talked their best around her. All except him. He didn't want to be here, remotely. But he had no choice. His family was living better thanks to his sacrifice.
She smiled and patted his shoulder.
“Don't forget that. Now we have t-" she said before abruptly stopping, eyeing a potential hazard.
“We got tangos at twelve and two." the co pilot yelled as two Skarmory flew at the helicopter, enraged by the damage in the city. They moved in synchronization, almost as if it was a dance. And it was.
Bly looked up and then at the captain. He swept over the control panel with his eyes and groaned. No weaponry. He turned to the captain with a sigh and opened his mouth but she cut him off before he could continue.
“It was originally going to be a snatch and grab operation. No hostiles." he said twirling her hair, a habit she did when she was nervous. The wings of the Skarmorys began to glow white and they jetted towards the helicopter. The wings seemed as if they pulsated and the aura became more intense.
The damage that was done towards the city aggravated all of the Pokémon in the vicinity, including those on the outer edges. There was Rapidashes galloping through debris and a Rhyperior ramming into a building. Other Pokémon were scared and attempted to seek shelter. Other humans assisted as well. It really was Armageddon down there.
“Swords Dance." he whispered
“Steel Wing." she whispered after her.
She turned to him and forced him towards his seat. She then went to her seat and fastened in tightly. She turned to th3 rest and they immediately did the same. The chopper was not made to turn on a dime so it was inevitable that it would be hit.
The two steel types used their sharp wings to slash into the helicopters reinforced armor like a hot knife through butter, quick and easy. Bly heard the groaning of the hull weakening. He turned to the others who were getting ready. It was going to be a long way down. The pilot yelled over the intercom.
“We’ve been hit. I repeat this bird is going down!!!" he yelled as they were falling at a high velocity towards the now destroyed department store. It was tilted and leaning against another one.
“Next floor, Items, food and gift shop!" the sniper yelled as the braced for impact. Everything went suddenly went pitch black.
How to explain a job you don't like? The proverbial hellhole that was your means of making it day by day. A worthless was of fifteen hours a day for minimum wage. Some say that being a security officer was putting your life in the line of duty but was just a glorified excuse to use the camera monitor to spy on the women’s changing room. That’s how most of the guards spent their time.
Bly was immediately disgusted by the fact that respectable, and somewhat law
enforcement, would even think of that. But he figured it would be somewhat of a
perk. He had bad strain of conservative girlfriends so they never wore anything
too revealing. He wouldn't mind a bit of skin to ease his mind.
Training began outside on a warm summer afternoon. All new recruits wore jeans and a T shirt. It was an odd choice for training attire but it was for their own good. The head officer, close to retirement, said the heavier clothing would help train them in their speed. He sighed and ran in synch with the others. CEO? Yeah right. His friend had lied straight to his face and Bly just took it.
The company was a Pokeballs manufacturing company, one of thirty in the entire world. So far only five building were made in the Unova region and Bly was going to be protecting the newly made Raimon city Pokeballs Company. It was impediment that they were in top shape for anything and everything.
The building was fifty stories. It had a futuristic look to it, almost like a spire. The white coating gave it a well regal appearance, as if a billionaire donated it or an evil criminal syndicate was housed there. But that wasn't the
case. This company created and manufactures Pokeballs for Pokémon trainers.
There are as many Pokeballs types as there is Pokémon in the world. Many not yet released to any region. Pokeballs that could detain any grass type or Pokeballs that can and easily capture Pokémon of the Adamant nature. If you thought about
then there’s a chance it was already created by the company. The whole basis for the company was to strengthen the bond between the security workers to show that they are all in it together.
Bly sat on the sidelines as he watched the fat recruits attempt to make it over a ten foot concrete wall. He snickered as they fail miserably. He couldn't help it that they fell flat on their asses; anyone who fell would be laughed at. But why do they need to be climbing walls? Or going beneath barbed wire? Last time he
checked, this place wasn't a military training academy. Was it secretly? He shook of the idea as he looked across the training field and saw his most hated enemy, his best friend.
Bly's eye sight was disturbingly good for a human. Considering sixty/sixty vision is remarkably amazing for a normal person. He could see the detailed engravings on the collar of his black suit and the detailed stitching on his shoes. But
most of all he hated the smile on his face, the smile that got Bly into the position he was in. Instead of having an air conditioned office, he was forced outside in the hot sun. He remembered that hated day so well.
The two men approached the office building with high hopes of working for the most illustrious companies in the Pokémon world. Both had ideas and concepts that would benefit the company one hundred times over, but one of them wanted the position more and was willing to use any tactic to get there. It was sickening.
Bly smiled and stepped into the companies white building and gazed at all the marvels that it had to off. The first Pokeballs ever created as set on display in the middle of the giant circular room. It was encased in a rectangular glass case with invisible laser sensors. Around the room, scattered, were four giant statues of Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, and Lugia. Each contained a pinpoint precision minigun with stun rounds in their open beaks. As the real Pokémon,
they were deadly even while immobile.
The two walked around slightly as they examined the parts of history that the Pokeballs contained. The first Pokeballs that was created was a temporary Pokeballs, one that had a twenty four hour timer on it. Once the hour was up, the
ball would break and the Pokémon would once again be free. It was an amazing concept that was soon master and created into the red and white standard
Pokeballs that was well known.
Other sections had a virtual Pokémon capture simulation. Users were given three different types of Pokeballs and a Pokémon. The user then had to decide which Pokeballs was the best to use. It was created to help teach everyone how a certain Pokeballs can easily decide a capture to the Pokémon fleeing. It also taught users to be prepared for your adventure and to buy Pokeballs according to where you are going.
It was an educational and enlightening experience for Bly. His friend, Elias, thought so as well but was more ready to get on with his interview. He was sure he could get the job and easily persuade the owner to bump Bly down to some lackey job. It was a win-win. Elias could talk his way out of any situation easily. He had a tongue a slick as ice, some might say. He turned to Bly who was intently watching and boy and his Pikachu capture a Tailow, an impressive feat.
He turned to the information desk and the blue hair woman that ran it. She wore her modest dress attire and two red clips in her hair to contrast the blue. She made it too easy for Elias.
“Women like being told their sexy." he said softly as he walked to the desk, giving her his best bedroom smile. He straightened himself and leaned on the counter.
“Heya beautiful. I'm here with my friend to meet with the director for an employment opportunity. Care to use to amazing eyes and check our appointment?" he said with a flirty wink.
She almost burst out laughing. It was almost embarrassing for her to laugh. She sighed and bit her tongue and clacked away at her keyboard.
“If you must know, I like going after the guys myself. I really don't need a confrontation." she said smiling and stressed the really. “And besides you’re not my type. You seem to chatty but your friend over there seems to be pretty cool." she said looking past him at Bly. She smiled and went back to her screen.
Elias wasn't going to give up though. His streak wasn't going to fail because of a dominant woman. He smiled and leaned in closer.
“But don't you think that he's a bit skinny? And aside from all things he bats for the other team."
She stared at Elias and thought for a second.
“He's gay." he said trying to help clear up his analogy.
She looked at Elias oddly, as if she saw through his ruse. Bly didn't seem gay to her, especially since her was blushing as he was talking to girl right now.
“Oh really? Well I think I'll find out for myself, but I have found your conformation for your appointment. It’s at the top floor in Room 456." she said wryly. She now knew he was a liar but had to keep quiet. She received this job on a whim and was the only thing keeping her in college. Best to keep your mouth shut and stay employed.
“Thank you....." he said as he leaned in to read her name tag. “Junko."
She had the overwhelming urge to slap him. Elias grinned, thinking his ploy worked. He nodded and motioned Bly over. He came quickly and then walked towards the elevator, hoping all would go well. Bly pulled out a Black and red Pokegear, turned it on and scrolled through its functions.
“Map, radio, phone, ah here we go! The internet." he said as he went to search up more information on the company. He only received the bare minimum as it was a really exclusive company. But he did get enough to read and under the main concepts that the company enforced. It helps to be prepared than to walk in blind after all.
The elevator rose to the top floor at a quick pace. Pokémon radio was playing as it made its ascent, why wasn't Bly surprised. It’s a Pokémon related company so normal muzak would be a cliché. He watches as the small Pokeballs symbols light up
and fade out as they passed a floor. Soon they reached the top of the building and the elevator doors slide open. Both Bly and Elias were amazed at the view of the city from the top spire. They same everything from the Ferris Wheel to the Big Stadium. Both were ecstatic but tried their best to keep it under wraps, not to mess up any employment chances they have.
Both men sat down along with other applicants who also wanted to get the job. Everyone practically looked the same in terms of dress where, a virtual sea of black and white. But it mattered on what was on the inside. A woman with short
blonde hair came out and called Elias in. Elias gave Bly two thumbs up and walked into the room.
Once in the room, Elias sat down and kept his eyes forward as the blonde woman closed the door. Elias remembers what he was told in the Trainers school about job interviews. He watched as a Chatot was perched on the shoulder of a muscular man in his forties. He was toned and emanated power from his body but his eyes and mannerisms gave away a fairness and kind nature. Elias thought he was a
"Elias Romero. Age twenty. Born in Unova, specifically Sanyou City. No prior offenses, misdemeanors or arrest. All in all why should I hire you?" the man said as he sat down and analyzed him, peering over his crossed hands. This man intimidated Elias, badly.
“Well sir, I believe I could be an asset to this company as a corporate sales adviser. I like being able to sell and convince people to buy something that’s very worthwhile and beneficial to the Pokémon world." he said with his most convincing voice. He kept his head forward and smiled.
The owner thought and thought until he was satisfied about his choice. Leaning back in his chair he turned to the man. “If you were to nominate a friend for a position in this company who would it be?"
Bingo. He just made Elias's job ten times easier. He thought he was going to have to create a whole new conversation a lies but it was a lot quicker now.
“Of course. My best friend Bly. He's a smart, intelligent and amazingly fit. He has to be one of the most athletic people I know. He probably can run around the building twice while barely breaking a sweat. A perfect head security guard
if you ask me."
And that was he needed to say. No more or no less. The perfect part of the lie was not to make it decent, just believable enough to make it check out. The man gave it some thought and nodded. He could use better security in the building. Why not hire the both of them? He got up and shook Elias's hand and walked out to see Bly.
“My boy! I have been informed that you are one of the most athletic people here." he said in front of everyone else, who instantly began checking their muscles. Bly froze and thought for a moment and decided to go along with it.
“Y-yes sir. I am physically fit although I don't look it." Bly said knowing something was wrong. He came here for a job, not a physical profiling.
The man nodded and smiled.
“That is exactly what I need in this company. You’ll do wonders in keeping the holy secrets of this company safe and I will not take no for an answer!” he exclaimed joyously.
Son of a bitch. Elias had said something that didn’t help him out one bit. He was tired of Elias always saying something that couldn’t benefit anyone but himself. Couldn’t he at least try once just to benefit his best friend? He was going to pay if it was the last thing he did. But before that he needed to stay on his good side and keep what piss poor job he was now employed with.
He gave the cheesy old smile and nodded his head.
“Of course sir. I’ll gladly defend this building.” He said with a happy tone, but slightly with a tone of forced enthusiasm. But hey, he was just forced into a crappy job. What would you reaction be? He shook both of their hands.
Soon they were escorted towards the elevator to leave. And awkward silence was in the air as the two almost refused to speak to each other, one too embarrassed and one hating the other. Once they reached the bottom floor, Bly left first and walked towards the outer courtyard. He needed some relief and hopefully a warm drink.
He wandered the Elias-free courtyard and found a van that held all of his needs. Food, magazines, drinks, even clothing. He knew exactly what he wanted.
“One coffee and sandwich please." he said as he smelled the delicious, handmade sandwiches being prepared. Soon they wrapped them with a small, decorative napkin in a triangle shape. The coffee came next, steaming and warm. It was the perfect way to warm up your insides on a cold day. He thanked the owner and paid for his things before he almost ran into Junko who was bundled up tightly in an overcoat. She smiled at him.
“Enjoying the coffee huh?” she said as she ordered her own food and turned to him. “Your friend is kind of weird you know?”
“He’s a jerk is what he is.” Bly said as he turned towards the setting sun. He just wanted to forget this day. Suddenly his Junko clung to his arm and smiled. “Well you can tell it to me while we go eat.”
He didn’t know how to respond. Was she just being friendly or was this going to lead into something more? He just wanted to get warmer and she did that without the coffee. He smiled and nodded.
“I guess talking about it won’t hurt a bit.” He said as he decided to find a nice park bench to sit on.
About twenty minutes into the conversation, they had realized they had much in common from different Pokémon to foods. And also their hatred of Elias. It was if they were a perfect match for each other. Bly unwrapped one of the sandwiches and took a huge bite from one.
“Wow that’s so good!” he said almost forgetting his rage.
“Yeah they are pretty delicious. Have you chosen who your Pokémon partner is?” she asked him.
“Um clarify that for me.”
She giggled and nodded. “You can request a partner to help assist you with protecting the building. You can pre choose or bring your own but I’m assuming you don’t have any.”
“You assume right. Hmm a partner huh? Sounds like I’m a Pokémon ranger.” He said as he pondered it for a long time. He wondered what could suit his tastes. Something strong and big that will stop the enemies in their tracks.
“I guess I’ll decide when the day comes. I hope it’s a good Pokémon.” Bly said as he took a sip of his coffee.
She nodded and took a bite from her own sandwich. Bly couldn’t help seeing how cute she is.
“Well I don’t think on if it’s good or not. More on the bond you’re going to share with it. Master that and you’ll be almost unbeatable.” Junko said as she wiped a few crumbs from her mouth. He smiled and stretched as he got up. He looked at his wrist watch and sighed.
“Sorry but I need to go. Studying time.” He groaned as he slumped a bit. “If I’m going to be employed then I need to learn all I can.”
She got up and gave him a giant bear hug followed by a pat on the back. “I’m sure you’ll do just fine on it. I need some help on a few reports. Mind helping me this weekend?”
He gave her a nod and wrote down his Pokegear number on a slip of paper and handed it to her.
“Using a Pokegear while not a Trainer? Your pretty odd.”
“Stop making fun of me.” he joked as he walked away and headed home. She felt her face burn from embarrassment and sighed.
“I’m not….” She said as she lost all wording
After getting out from his daily training regiment the next day, it was time for some weekend fun... She stood in front of the building in a black skirt, purple long sleeved shirt, a black jacket and open toed sandals. He came walked up to her wearing a regular shirt and jeans. If people didn't know any better, they were looked as if they're on a date.
“Wow you look amazing." he said slightly in awe. He looked Junko up and down, not sensually but as if he was decoding why did she dress like that. Did she really think they were on a date? Well a date would be a perfect stress reliever. She gripped the handle on her purse and started walking.
“I need to make a deposit for the company so your assistance would be great." she said teasingly. “You are security aren’t you?"
He nodded happily and walked her to a banking firm that dealt with all types of business materials. He watched as she easily made the deposit and walked back towards him.
“Alright. I've got everything I needed done today what about you?" she asked as her wide blue eyes locked with his green ones.
“Well today's my day off from studying so we can do whatever we want." he said wondering her next move. She thought for a moment and waited till she had an idea form in her head.
“Well we can walk around and talk some more. It would e a good way to get closer as friends." she said happily with the perfect blush added to her face.
He nodded and walked with her down the street as he saw children and their Pokémon playing in the street happily. He gave a solemn smile and kept on walking.
“You've never had a Pokémon have you?" Junko said as she saw his gaze. Everybody should at least have some wonderful Pokémon interaction in their life time.
“No I haven't, but I have liked Houndours. They seem so noble and ready for anything. It would make the perfect partner Pokémon." he said happily they made their way towards the Ferris wheel. Junkos eyes lit up and pulled him towards it.
“Ride it with me." she said as they got in to a red carrier. It slowly made its way to the peak of the ride then stopped. He watched in amazement as he saw the small city. He peered out the window then turned to Junko.
“Do you like the ride?" he said as he flashed a white, non flirty smile. She blushed wildly and nodded.
“Y-yeah I-I come here a lot when I n-need to clear my head every once in a while." she said as she played with her fingers. She had a cute look but was so nervous. He thought for a bit and leaned back against his seat.
“Hmmm I hope my testing goes well." he said, worrying immensely. He may hate his job but he still needed the money. It was enough to work with for the basic necessities and entertainment.
“What video games do you like?" Junko said as he was spacing out, hoping to get an answer from her shot in the dark question.
He nodded and smiled as they conversed long into the night, not leaving the Ferris wheel, about shooting games and strategies for the latest action games. It was love at first sight and Bly couldn't believe it himself. Junko was the perfect girl for him and Bly was the perfect guy for her. She saw him as strong and gallant, also known as hot in her mind. He smiled as his hand slowly went towards hers but when fireworks started flying, she quickly rushed towards the window and stared out in amazement. In his mind that classified as a fail in his mind. But he was persistent not to give up.
They finally decided to get off the ride once they realized they were hungry. Luckily, there was an ice cream stand nearby to aid in filling their empty bellies. He escorted her over to the stand and ordered what he wanted and watched as she order some ice cream that was light blue. His was just plain vanilla. As they walked, he saw her hand and decided to make another move. It seemed as if it was ages but he slowly inched closer. Soon he placed his palm into hers and waited. She flinched slightly and her eyes widened a bit before relaxing.
“About damn time." she thought with a blush on her face.
She leaned into him and sighed, taking small licks from her ice cream. She was so content and happy with him. He made her feel amazing. They arrived at Junkos house when she turned back to him
He sat on the bench watching all of the fat people struggle to climb over the cement wall. It was pathetic. He snickered a bit as one heavy set Caucasian male fell straight on his ass from the top of the wall. Everyone was staring at Bly as he almost wet his pants from the sheer joy he got from watching the man fall. The guy, on the other hand,
did not. The heavy set man, Gertz, was fat with some muscular features, gruff voice and green eyes. Bald, of course to add to his already biker motif.
“You got a problem with me, hombre?" he said as Bly nearly fell out of his seat. This was too much for him to handle.
The man slammed his fist on the wooden bench, splintering it slightly. Everyone on the bench stood up except for Bly, who was now staring down Gertz, eyes daring him to make a move. Bly decided to stand and look up at the man who was about a head taller than him. He shook his head and groaned.
“I don't even want to be here first of all. Second of all your fat ass fell down, only proper of me to laugh. Third? Get out of my face before I make you."
Soon a harsh silence settled onto the training grounds. Only the faint sounds of cars passing by were heard as Gertz's face grew crimson read as he directed a punch straight towards Bly and it connected. That set Bly off. His speed was almost ungodly as he brought the man to his knees as he low kicked him in back of his knees. The next blow was a punch to face. Followed by another punch And another one. And another one. And another until the man was bleeding profusely from his nose and mouth. Possibly his eyes but since his face was so mangled who could tell.
Bly looked at the bloodied and crying man with disgust.
“You're a pathetic excuse for a guard in training. You need t grow a pa-"
“That’s quite enough!" said a female voice from behind them. The sound of heels clicking on concrete was heard as everyone turned around and saw a dazzling short blonde haired woman. Bly had seen her before but where. He thought and thought and thought until her figured it out. She was in his job interview.
“You are to come with me right now."
Soon everyone turned to Bly and started to ohhhh as if he was in trouble just like a high school class when a student got sent to the principal’s office.
“Fucking immature-" started Bly when the woman started tapping her toes. That was an indication that he needed to go. Now. He nodded and walked away with the woman, Hearing the complaining from Gertz about how Bly got in some lucky shots. Lucky wasn't the right word in his case.
Bly followed the woman out to the parking lot where a black limo was waiting for them. It was sleek and shiny with its black matte finish.
“And what have I done to deserve this type of treatment?" he said
She bit her lower lip and gave him a nice smile, pulling out a manila file from the seat under her. He watched as her eyes scanned it over and leaned on a bit to see what was in it. She turned her head up to him and growled to make him back away. He complied. She leaned back and analyzed it for a while before closing it and placing it back where it was.
“Your Bly Locke. Age nineteen, height six foot, weight one hundred and fifty pounds. Born in Kanto at the hospital in Celadon City on the 15th of June. Raised by your mother and father, whom you left behind when you journeyed here with your friend, quite a player if I do say so myself. Um favorite foods are anything strawberry related and your vision, the reason I brought you out here, is sixty/sixty.
“Yeah? An-" was all he could get out before a hand judo chopped him
In the neck, causing him to black out. He struggled to gain consciousness but the hit was way too hard.
“I know you don't want that security guard job, I also know you want something more out of your life. Maybe you can find some sense of purpose in your life here. But for now, I own you.” she said as she ruffled his black hair.
“Welcome to PRISM.”
Darkness was a void of wonder to some people. To other it was a prison within one’s own mind. Bly considered it a solace from his life. It let him be whatever he wanted to be. And anywhere else in the world. But the darkness did not let him do that this time. He just saw his father, his mother, his sister, and Junko. Would he ever see them again? Probably not since he was dragged into a vehicle and knocked out. Who wouldn't have thoughts about not seeing their friends and family again. Hopefully he wouldn't have to see Elias again.
“LET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!"
That was Elias’s voice as well. What’s going on? He needed to wake up and fast. He forced himself to open his eyes and was blinded by a white light. After he raised his hands instinctively to shield his eyes, he was he was laid down on an operating table. It was an odd room he was in as he leaned up slightly. He wasn’t wearing normal clothing either. His normal T-shirt and jeans were replaced with a black combat gear on. He heard multiple voices surrounding him, but once his vision returned, he realized it was only the intercom.
“Think he can do it?”
“He’s had no formal training. He’ll probably chicken out before he even comes to.”
“We’ll see. We’ll see”
He groaned and raised his other hand and to scratch his head as he tried to think, but instead was rubbing it with the barrel of a pistol. Freaking out momentarily, he looked around and saw Elias tied to a chair, bloody, beaten and baffled. His right eye was black and he had an X craved into the side of his face. He looked like absolute hell.
“What in the world?”
The room was pure white. Not much bigger than a waiting room at a doctor’s office. It held no aesthetics aside from the silver operating table, the chair Elias was strapped to, Elias, Bly, and the gun. He was wondering if he had gone insane, or was in a bad dream. He looked at Elias and thought a bit.
“Were you interrogated?” said Bly walking over to him, pistol still in hand. His outlook on Elias had changed within the very few days. A life time of friendship was ruined by a few small lies. All to gain just exactly what? A bigger paycheck? That’s definitely worth throwing away a friend who would risk his life out for you. The intercom suddenly buzzed, but nowhere in the room to see.
“Bly. We need you to kill Elias. That handgun has only one bullet so try not to waste it.” said an sickly sweet voice. It was very disturbing. Bly looked from Elias to the handgun. He snickered then broke out into a full laugh.
“Hehe yeah right I’m doing that. What’s next? Do I assassinate someone?” he said chuckling, almost doubling over from the pain in his sides as he smiled. “He’s a real jerk but that doesn’t mean I should blow his head off.”
“Yeah! Thanks man! I knew you weren’t going to kill me!”
“Shut the hell up.” Bly said wryly as a holo screen appeared in front of them. It replayed a video from the interview between Elias and the C.E.O of the company. Every detail, including Elias’s betrayal was seen. Elias looked stunned and tried, again, to lie out of it.
“No way this is real. They used some editor to swap all my words around.” Elias pleaded. But that wasn’t the end of the video. It also showed him breaking into the off limits facility of the company, and walking out with classified project, shoving them into his backpack as if they were toys. Almost four point five billion poke dollars worth of items were gone. It also showed him shoving Junko out the way before he grabbed private files that could make or break the company. It was all so disturbing.
“Your friend is a thief. And a liar on top of that. Do you feel your anger rising. That’s your heart telling you that bastard is not really your friend…” the intercom buzzed in shortly after that.
The final clip was of Elias running across the street hurriedly, right in front of a bus. Elias made it away ok but the bus was another story. It veered to the left before tipping over completely. The bus slide a hundred feet into what looked like a shopping center. All that damage just from a self greed that could be gain by stealing?
“Why the hell would you do such a thing!?!? As if you don't fuck up enough, your killing lives in the process! Why did you even steal all of those items?!" Bly yelled, unaware of the echoing in the room. He felt weird, as if a psychic aura was filling his rage more and more until it peaked.
Elias looked up with crazed eyes. He had finally snapped and was ready to kill someone.
“Do you know how much those criminal organizations would pay? Hell a lot more than that company. Just one of those Pokeballs could get me a private island. Imagine what five could do? It's a lucrative business!"
Before Elias could finish, Bly pistol whipped him hard. He watched as the chair crashed over and hit the floor with a hard thud. His eyes were full of rage and hatred. Not just for the stealing, the lies and the deceit, but for endangering the lives of many others. The report flash across the screen as a man and woman reported in on the scene of the crash. Flames were growing as the Blastoise and Swampert teams sprayed the building that the bus had crashed into. It was sad scene as people screamed out for their loved ones and weeping when no response would come. It was pure carnage and greed had caused it.
“You…….you caused all of this shit to happen!! Your never grrrr arghh!!!!!!!!” he yelled, tempted to fire the gun. He was close. But once he saw that children were killed, he lost it
That was the final straw. Bly didn't know what happened in the few moments of his mind but he couldn't take it anymore. In two seconds, the safety was off and in one second, the bullet left the barrel. Three sides of the wall were pure white, but the fourth wall was a crimson red with bits of pink splotches on the floor.
The chair fell backwards with Elias's limp body as Bly just stood there. It was his first time killing someone and that someone had just been his best friend. No sound was heard on the hidden intercom until it started crackling to life. Noises were heard in the background as people talked.
“Wow he really had the balls to do that."
“You were right Captain."
“Of course she was, she’s the captain."
Soon the a wall opened up like an elevator and out walked a group of four followed by two men in laboratory coats. The two men took the body and laid it out on the stretcher. They walked it out, leaving Bly and the others the opportunity to converse.
“So Bly........you had the guts to kill a person. Think your capable of much more?" said the captain said as he brushed a bang from the side of her face. She didn't expect him to say yes right away but with some coercion, he would join on his own.
“I'm for it."
What the hell? Everyone looked at him as if he was crazy. Nobody had agreed so quickly. Not without having some mental trauma or anything. Most people had screamed the first time they had shot someone, so why was he so different. He looked the pistol over and raised it to the light.
“Can I keep this?" he said almost childlike. He like the streamlined design. It was an amazing piece of craftsmanship to Bly and he didn't want to give it up just yet.
“Well since you decided to join us so quickly, you can have it. Fully customizable to serve your every need in the field. But first we need to get your partner."
“Partner?" he said slightly confused.
“First let’s get you comfortable. Come on." she said as she left first, followed by Bly. No one bother to tell Bly that half the side of his face was covered with Elias's blood.
Around two hours later, Bly had taken the most relaxing shower he had in weeks. It was amazingly relaxing as the soft water plastered his skin as he leaned against the marble shower wall. For a top secret military base, they had some pretty swanky stuff. Hologram Televisions, imported foods, specially made furniture along with some of the most advanced technology not released to the public. It was fascinating and disturbing at the same time. He just wanted to know what exactly was going on that they kidnapped him and made him kill Elias.
He walked out the shower with on towel around his waist and one around his neck. He stretched as he looked around his guest bedroom and sat down on a plush bed, neatly made and sprayed with a lavender fragrance. He wasn’t overly girly but he couldn’t argue that it was soothing. He smiled and relaxed for quite a bit until he fell asleep as he stared at the ceiling. Around twenty minutes later, he found an odd feeling between his groin as he woke up.
“Ngggh wait a minute, what the hell?” he said as he opened his eyes and found a black and red egg between his legs. He took a few seconds to process it before jumping to the other side of the room. “What the fuck is going on here?!?!?!”
“Your new partner!” said to voice simultaneously. He turned to the door and two women were peeking out at him, not much older than him. He turned to the egg and walked back over to it, inspecting it to see if it has been damaged in any way shape or form. After about a minute of looking at it, he deemed it ok and put his arms around it and sighed.
“My partner?” he said unsure of what they were talking about.
They walked out from behind the door, wearing identical green skirts and pink tank tops. The sauntered out over to him and sat on opposite sides of him.
“The captain decided to let you have this Pokémon egg. All you have to do is wait for it to hatch and train it to be the best of the best.” The one on the left said as the one on the right began to poke the egg, while still on his crotch. He turned to the other
“And that’s all?”
“Yup that is all.”
He thought for a while and wondered what could be in the egg. Maybe it was an amazingly powerful Pokémon that knows amazing moves. It could be. He just sat there as the girls got up from the bed and walked over to the door. The on the left spoke again as the other opened the door for her.
“It’s best if you hurry to the mess hall. It’s almost dinner and the Captain hates it when people are late.” She said as they left the room. He sighed and wondered if they had any of his clothing available. So far all he found was his body suit fatigues he was forced into earlier while he was unconscious. He set the egg down on the bed and wrapped the base of the egg in a blanket. He smiled back at it after getting dressed and heading to the door. He figured any Pokémon that it would hatch into would be a epic partner. All he had to do was wait for it to happen.
He was escorted through the hallways into a classy jazz type bar. He looked around as the dim lighting and trumpet playing threw him off a bit. Was this really a military operations base? He could have sworn that he was being set up but then figured killing someone wasn’t a prank. He was escorted to a small table with four people sitting there. They all smiled and the captain stood up, wearing a very beautiful black ballroom gown, and extended her hands. “I am Captain Maria Roberts. This is Sola and Luna Serenade.” she said as she pointed to them respectively, both wearing matching blue dresses. “And this is Tarkov.” she said, pointing to the brown, shaggy haired man in a suit who was draining a bear.
“And this is Alpha squadron. Please sit.” She said as she motioned to the empty chair next to her. He looked at it hesitantly but when he saw guards with assault rifles equips with automatic homing sights, he decided to sit. He looked at all the food set down on the table and stared at it. Smoked duck, fried rice, and sushi were set up all elegantly. Asian much?
He sat down and began to eat, opting for the chopsticks. He pulled them apart and began to eat everything in sight. After his fourth round of rice, he opted for the fish, then the eggrolls. They even managed to flying in a pizza with breadsticks for him. In the span of forty minutes, he had eaten ten bowls of fried rice, three whole smoked ducks, a pizza, half a Black Forest cake and a bottle of orange soda. And he still wanted more. He was about to order when he noticed everybody staring at him. He had devoured enough food to feed about five homeless families and he still wanted more.
“Sorry but I was hungry. Can I get a doggy bag?” He said as he slumped back in the chair.
He stretched a bit and looked at the Captain. She smiled and slide over a flat technical Tactipad. It had a sleek touch screen and a slim design, making it almost like one of the latest cell phones out on the market. She pressed a button at the top and it did a full facial recognition scan and retinal scan. Soon a blue screen appeared But Bly thought he broke it while the words “Blue Screen of death” flashed in his mind. It was ok once the screen showed a full body diagnosis of Bly. Height, weight, psychological preferences, it showed everything. He smiled and fiddled around with it until he backed out of the application and explored the other functions of the Tactipad. It had all of his Pokegear information, a Pokedex, cell phone capabilities and much more, even a last resort self detonation function. This group was nothing to play with.
“Now that you’ve seen your new toy, you should get some rest. Combat practice starts at oh four hundred hours. Make sure your ready to die.” She said as she excused herself from the table.
Her movements were fluid and graceful as she left the table. He turned towards the others as they continued to drink. Tarkov began to start flirting the twins, who seemed overly disgusted by him. Bly just shook his head and walked towards the exit, grabbing a soda on the way out. He looked at the can as he walked to his room, more worried about his egg than anything. He unlocked the door and peered inside. The entire room was scorched all over and much of the furniture was torn up.
“Son of a bitch.” He muttered as he opened it more and stepped inside softly. He heard a noise coming from the bathroom and decided to gently ease towards it. Crouching low to the ground, he finds that flames were erupting from his toilet. He ran to out the room to find an extinguisher when the room suddenly burst wildly into flames.
“Oh God this cannot get any worse.” He said slumping against the wall and stating out the flames. He watched as a set of burning eyes connect with his. They bore a great hatred and spite. What was it? Soon the eyes got closer and closer, a body joining appearance. It stepped out of the fire with a feral grace to it. I was a small dog-like Pokémon. It had white bands around each of its legs as if they were bindings. A skull type ornament was on its head which gave it a demonic like overview.
It was a very ornery looking Houndour. It glared at him angrily and wanted to bite something. Bly did the dumbest thing he could do, pet it. The eye of the Houndour twitched and snapped its jaws firmly around his hand, letting Bly scream bloody murder. It bit down hard until it started drawing blood. Bly shook his hand and slammed it against the wall repeatedly until it stopped. Houndour jumped back and created a ball of fire in front of it. Bly scrambled to get up and run away but once her tripped, he stared back in horror.
“A soldier doesn’t shy from danger, he faces it head on!” said a voice in the
It was Maria, who pounced on the Houndour and attempted to hold it down while sliding a flame retardant muzzle. She watched as it ran around in a circle and attempted to break it off, but to no avail did it work. He sighed and shook his head. After he picked himself off the ground, he looked at her wide eyed. Her dress was ripped at bottom to make it seem like a mini dress.
“Why the hell did that happen?!?!” he said looking at the Captain, who was already picking up the tired Houndour. She shook her head and motioned for him to follow. The Houndour growled at him and started to rile up again. Maria held out two fingers and pressed it right behind its ears. The dog slowed down and fell into a state of calmness.
“You really need to learn about Pokémon. I’m assuming you left it as an egg?”
Bly shook his head as the captain sighed. They walked past a room where operatives trained with their Pokémon. One girl was meditating underwater with her Medicham while a guy went hand to hand with his Infernape. All of them were moving like a well oiled machine. Bly was amazed. The reached a room where there was again nothing but white walls. Maria put the Houndour in there and left it. “It needs to cool down, but in the meanwhile you’re going to be rooming with Tarkov. I'd have you room with me but you’re not that special......yet." she wink as she walked away.
Was he just flirted with? He tried to shake off any thoughts about it as he asked a senior officer where Tarkov’s room is. He ventured down the west corridor, the sound of heavy death metal was blasting loudly. The captain had to be busting his balls with this one. He knocked on the door. No response. He tried again but louder. The music blared louder. He sighed yelled just as the music died down.
“TARKOV OPEN THE DAMN DOOR ALREADY!!!" People started to open their doors and start complaining about the noise and how late it is.
Tarkov opened the door. “Oi brother, all you had to do was knock." he smirked and invited him into his room. It smelled of vodka and lighter fluid as posters were mounted of famous bands and rockers. A sniper rifle was set up above his bed. ACOG sight with a suppressor muzzle. That was pretty interesting. On his nightstand was a pistol with a silencer. Bly raised an eyebrow at him. Tarkov smiled.
“In my skill set, silence is your weapon not the gun." he said turn the safety on. He smiled before picking back up his black guitar and shredding away at it. His skills were amazing as his hands glided along the guitar. He ended with a crazy power chord and smiled. It was a sleek cherry red guitar, complete with pickups and a whammy bar. It was if God himself christened it good.
“Yet another of my skill set." he said proudly.
“So silence and noise make up your skill set?" Bly said wryly.
“Not noise, sound." he said with a laugh. He uncorked a bottle of vodka and took a swig.
“Sooner you learn that the sooner we get along."
Bly just shook his head and hopped in the spare bed. Combat practice was tomorrow and he needed to be ready. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep but couldn’t, thinking of all the things he had to go through.
“Hehehe bring it on.” he said as he pulled the cover over him and softly began to sleep, the cover rising up and down.
Tarkov killed the lights when he turned to Bly.
“Hey have you figured out what you’re going to name your little fire starter?” he said thinking about the incident earlier. Everyone had heard of it but didn’t know that it was a Pokémon that caused it.. Only the squadron knew. Bly leaned up and thought, wondering about it. It took him a while until he settled on a name.
“It’s the Chinese meaning for black. Not a bad name considering its black and it has a dark attitude so better than calling it Dark.”
Tarkov nodded and chuckled.
“At least it better than being a five year old and calling your black cat Blackie or a Whitey.
“You calling me retarded?” Bly said, angrily.
“Hehe I don’t call names, I shoot.” Tarkov spat out. He held his fingers up and mimicked a pistol.
“True but hope you’re not my opponent. My shots are right between the eyes.” Bly said as he turned around and put a pair of ear buds in his ears and
went to sleep.
For three months, Bly spent his time in intensive training. He focused on his faults and managed to gain a skill in close quarters combat. It was an amazing development as he gained knowledge of many different blades and guns. Many people believe that all knives are just for cutting but thats not their only feature. They also can be used to hack a computer system as Bly demonstrated in a training exercise. Just stab and twist for instant access. He was soon becoming an amazing soldier.
His missions were basically those of a Pokemon Ranger but more glorified. Mostly evacuating Pokemon amd returning them to their owners. It was a pain but he was still new and did not have the experience the others had. Although it discouraged him at first he came to accept the role he was playing. The other squad had watched his progress improve greatly and named him their assualt specialist. It was a great honor since that role had everyones lives on the line.
“Only three fucking hours.......again" Bly said groggily.
The alarm was set to 2 AM. He attempted to smack and try to get to stop but no avail. Throwing it across the room didn't help either. It let out a annoying loud blaring sound from the corner of the room. It rang for seven minutes before three muzzled gunshots. Bly stared at the smoking clock to the now awake Tarkov, who was holding his pistol that was smoking from the silencer end and looking very pissed off.
“I always hated that alarm clock. I'll wake you up next time." he said waking up dragging himself out of bed and trudged to the bathroom.
Bly groaned and stood up in his full black combat gear and figured he saved time since he was already dressed. He picked up his communicator and looked around for a place to put it but the suit had no pockets. He groaned and fumbled with it until he came out with the same suit but with an arm gauntlet that held the same Tactipad. Bly looked at him and wondered.
“Where did you get that? I've just been keeping mine in my pocket all this time."
“Oh. You get one at combat practice. It’s a bit weighty but you’ll manage with some training.” Tarkov said
Bly just nodded and walked with Tarkov to the training field inside the base. It was a sniper range, detonation field, a simulation trainer and other cool things. Numerous agents were going about their normal training routines. Tarkov and Bly entered through the sniping range when they saw Maria chatting with a scientist. Maria saw them and waved them over to them. She handed him a black gauntlet and smiled.
“First, welcome to your first training session with your squad. Second, meet the professor."
The scientist wore a light blue blouse, a black pencil skirt and round glasses. She sported two inch heels and a open white lab coat which revealed her cleavage, bordering from cute to hot. Her hair was dark brown and tied into a ponytail which ended right below her waist. Her face was kind but also stern at the same time, like a mother. She carried a clipboard and wrote down some things.
“Bly, this is Professor Winteria Vera. She oversees our psychological training."
Bly gave her a wave but Tarkov saluted. Maria looked at Bly oddly before chopping him in the ribs.
“Salute her." she said sternly.
Bly saluted her and she stopped writing. She pressed the clipboard tightly to her chest and looked him over. She took down accurate measurements from mere glances at him. It made him uncomfortable. She stopped and then spoke in a sickly sweet voice.
“You'll do. Captain, show him to the lab."
Maria loomed at the professor as her eyes showed a pleading notion not to continue but obeyed her higher up. She took Bly by the arm and walked him to a laboratory on the far end, Winteria not far behind. Marias eyes showed a hint of sadness and Bly picked up something bad would happen. The entered a room with computers and different screen. Multiple keyboards were set up as Winteria entered and typed away on one keyboard. A chair was set in the middle of the room, complete with straps, head bracer and leg straps.
“Am I......going to be executed?" Bly said with thoughts of an electric chair.
“Much worse” thought Maria as she put a hand on his shoulder.
“No no. This is the psyche evaluation chamber. We measure sanity, toxin levels, and brain waves. All enough to see if you’re fit."
He nodded and walked to the chair. The room had a low flowing aura to it that made him feel unusual. He turned to Maria.
“What about Hei? Is he ok?" he said as he sat down.
“Hei? Oh you named your partner. He's going through psyche evaluations as well so don't worry. He'll be tamer in no time."
Before he could respond, Winteria walk over and set the braces on his wrist and ankles. Then she snapped the circular metal bar around his forehead. She walked back over to the computer where she began typing in some codes. The screen went blank and in big red letters, the words SLEEPER CELL appeared. She used the touch screen and opened new files until one named PORYLIGMATIC OCTOGONAL CATACLYSM was set open. She pressed execute and a small Pokeball appear on the screen.
The Pokémon was pink and teal and looked like a duck. It had a dull lock in its eyes until it soon was awake. The professor typed more codes and sent them to the Porygon. Since Porygon could travel between the human world and cyber space, it made the perfect military weapon.
The professor began typing in all requirements and habits for this project. He would be a ruthless killer, only answering to whoever released him. He would be loyal to whom ever created him. He would be a separate entity living inside a person’s body. An alternate persona. And this was done without any consent to the victim, a big breach of military and civilian ethics. Bly would soon feel a small tingle, followed by a massive shock. He screamed in pain and it jolted his eyes open. His eyes were forced open to see a Alakazam in front of him. It used hypnosis on him and he soon fell asleep, too tired to resist from the electricity surging through him.
“Porygon, do what is needed.” Winteria said as she typed in more commands.
The head brace was attached to wires, leading up to the computer. The Porygon dematerliazed and disappeared. Small sparks of electricity surged through the wiring. Soon a blank outline of Bly’s body appeared on the screen and soon b started to fill up starting at zero percent. Once it reached fifty percent, Winteria turned to Maria and took her glasses off.
“Only use this in times of emergencies. We don’t know his full capabilities yet before we continue on to full usage. His release word?”
Maria pondered and thought about it for a second until she came upon a name she had heard once before.
“Exia. Exia will be the name for now.”
“Good now don’t screw up with this for any reason. I have enough problems with you and your squad interfering. I need to go to Hiun City to work on the main frame. Do not disturb.” She scowled as the Alakazam approached her and they teleported away from the base.
“What a Class A bitch." Maria muttered to herself.
She never approved of Winteria's methods of experimentation. Even worse was how her experiments came out. Some ended up dead, and some worse. Loss of limbs, memory, eyeballs were all just “Stepping stones of 3" as she called it, but Maria knew better. She hated when people tried to play God. Maria walked over and saw the meter had filled to one hundred percent. She pressed the body outline that gave him a relatively major shock and sent his body into a reboot mode. The captain freed him from the harnesses and hefted him over her shoulder, shockingly strong for one her size. After shutting off the lights, she exited the room but the Porygon stayed on the screen, looking sad and wondering what it had just done.
His vision blurred as he opened his eyes but they soon regained focus. Bly looked around at his squad all staring at him. He was lying down on a bench that was a part of a small recreation center near the training grounds. The smell of rice balls making him hungry.
“Uhh my head. What happened?" he said in a low tone.
The whole squadron knew what had happened but were not allowed to speak of it as per orders from the higher ups. The people running the squad had been monitoring Bly since junior high when he broke the record in school athletics. All sports from football to track and field. His grade point average was a 5.0 in high school. He had finished college in two years instead of four. What military wouldn't want him? So they concocted a plan. Give Bly a best friend, lead him to them, betray him far enough to kill him. They needed to know if Bly had the will and killer instinct. So far he hasn't failed them.
“You hit your head in the training house." Tarkov said.
“Haaaard." both twins chimed in as well.
“But enough chatter. Bly, Luna and Sola will help you with detonation techniques. Tarkov will help you snipe and I will teach you assault tactics. Come on! Getup and get your ass in gear!"
He nodded hesitantly and got up. His head still hurt but not as much. The twins grabbed each side of his arms and dragged him towards the detonation field. Tarkov turned towards Maria and shouldered his rifle.
“You know what will happen if he ever finds out what happened. Are you sure you want to accept that risk?" he said, concern for his team mates well being for once.
“I'm sure. It’s bad enough we took that guy from his home but now were turning him into a killer? Who wouldn't be worried if he found out. He'd probably hunt us all down and kill us. But enough sadness. We need to get in shape in case were on call." she said.
“Hehe your right. I need to make sure my sights are perfect so you don't get your sorry asses killed." he retorted as he walked off towards the field.
The uneasiness never left her heart.
The detonation field was wide and gravely. Bly saw two guys send out their Electrodes out to the field to explode. The blast was magnificent in size and color. The girls were yawning though. They began to teach Bly how to use detonating clay and sulfuric acid. He took a block and did what most crazy people would do, take a bite. He spat it out and kicked it under the table where all their supplies were.
In twenty minutes, Bly created a claymore strong enough to blow through ten inches of solid concrete, learned how to successfully synch a remote detonator and how to hack a password protected bomb. The twins stood in shock as he had done these things so easily.
“I-I don't know how I did it." he said nervously as the pestered him how to do those things.
“Kyaaaa! I think I'm in love!" Luna squeeled in joy.
“No he's mine!" Sola screamed and tackled her sister, wrestling her to the ground.
Bly decided to back away once somebody yelled cat fight. He slinked away and put his hands behind his head as he walked unknowingly onto the sniper training field. The crowd surrounding the fight of the two girls was heard in the back ground.
“Arceus those two are..........crazy?" he said slowly as a red dot appeared on his right arm, then his left, them his forehead. A massive crosshair was placed on his chest. He slowly looked up and stared in fear as Tarkov, two other snipers and a girl standing atop a Metagross, whose eyes were glowing red. It was using its Lock-On attack.
“Hey Bly! Welcome to sniper school!" Tarkov yelled smugly.
Tarkov took Bly though the basics of sniping, mostly of silence, wind direction and maintenance of the gun. He then helped Bly create a sniper rifle suited for him called “Nexus". The bullets were a special armor piercing round that was hard enough to hit though most pokemons armor. Tarkov then took him out to the range where they had a contest. Bly ended up scoring in the ninety seventh percentile, right below Tarkov. The narcissist was impressed.
Before they could continue and alarm blared over the arena. The two looked at each other, obviously having no clue what is going on. Maria came from behind them and whispered.
“Follow me. We've been called by the general. Don't make a scene." she said as the slowly walked towards the main exit.
They had reached the exit and turned to the right. Once accompanied by the twins, who were having a tiff over who gets Bly, they were granted permission into the command center. It was about as high tech as you can imagine. Multiple people were checking grids, others filing reports and answering phones. A man stood in the middle of the center, staring at a screen that projected the image of a satellite. He turned to the team with a grim face.
“At 0300 we received a report of a laser strike on Huin City. We figured it was a prank call. Soon after, more reports came in. We triangulated its origin to this satellite. Under strict regulations, I was not allowed to tell you what this satellite was, but now it is the perfect time. We use it to spy on legendary Pokémon."
The squad stared at him for a moment and soaked it in. Had the military successfully been able to track legendary Pokémon? They wondered but the man continued.
“We figured that it was a malfunction until we saw this."
The satellite super heated, turning the silver hull a bright red. It soon shattered in a disturbing explosion. Once the blast faded, a long snake type thing floated for a while. Once it roared and flew past the remote camera, it's face was easily noticeable as the leader of the weather trio, Rayquaza. But it's coloring was off. Instead of dark green, it was black as midnight and it's red circles were now yellow.
It was enraged as it thrashed around wildly in space. Soon a bright orange orb appeared in front of its mouth, and became bigger and bigger, but suddenly compressed to a smaller orb and fired it off. It flew towards the earth with the force of a sonic boom and struck Huin city straight at its heart, causing massive amounts of damage. Soon a hologram layout of the wrecked Huin city appeared.
“We need a search and rescue squad. Professor Winteria is there and conducting an experiment in a hidden laboratory. But with the riots and fires breaking out, we may not have much time so you’re being deployed immediately. Dismissed.
Except you Bly.”
Bly stopped and turned to the man. He had shaggy yellow blond hair and a slight scowl to his face. He dress in a black suit with a silver tie. His face gave away all of his battle prowess and experience.
“I heard about a little situations in my barracks dealing with fire. Now you know I don’t tolerate pranksters in my military.” He said handing him a Pokeball with a wink. “So don’t let it happen again understand?” he said with a wink
He nodded and patted him on the back.
“Rehabilitated. Somewhat. You need to earn its trust though. It won’t obey you completely but somewhat. Dismissed”
The squad left the room and set towards the aircraft bay and stocked up on whatever they needed. None said a word until it was time to board the helicopter. They were nervous about this mission as something set uneasily in their stomachs. It seemed that there was something more to this mission than what was being told.
“Do you think he knows everything that’s going on? He could be lying.” Bly said softly.
“Well that’s General Derian for you.” said Maria as she boarded the transport helicopter.
Everyone got in and Maria alerted the pilot that it was time to set off. I was going to be a mission they needed to get right once. There were no second chances.
The smell of burning debris and clothing woke Bly up. He groaned hard as he pulled out the Pokeball he received earlier.
“Hei your on standby.” He said as the Pokeball opened and released a bright, white light. The puppy Pokémon growled back at him but didn’t seem so violent. He smiled at it and it returned the cocky smirk. He stood up and looked around.
He was apparently in an office building, torn up and on fire. It looked as if this place was hit by a hurricane then a wild Tauros ran through it. He looked around and felt his left thigh. His pistol was still there and when he looked to his shoulder, his combat knife was still in its sheath.
His head pounded as he fumbled with the buttons on his flak jacket and pulled out a communicator. He put it in his ear and looked at the Tactipad on in his arm gauntlet. After bypassing a few safety codes, he dialed into his teammates. So far all that was heard was static until….
“Ughh B-Bly? Where are you?!?!” she yelled, some pain in her voice.
“Ummmm no. fucking clue.” He said wryly.
It was a few seconds before she resumed speaking, the longest few seconds of his life. He was in separated from his team and had to fend for his own. But it was what came with the job. Maria came back on.
“Ok Bly. We are in the building that’s above the bunker. The others are far off from us and are coming to rendezvous with us. We need to get the professor and get out. I’ll hack the elevator and get you down to the ground floor. Hurry up.”
The com went off with a click and he turned to Hei.
“Ok Hei, we need to head to the elevator. Let’s move out.”
Hei nodded and trotted next to him as they walked past destroyed offices and cubicles. It was a horror scene as bodies lay strewn everywhere, some impaled and others were not as lucky. He sighed and kept on walking. He had hoped he could at least find the elevator. Suddenly, a hand grasped his leg, tightly. As instinct, Bly removed his pistol from his holster and aimed it at what seemed to be a man. He wore business attire but was bleeding from his mouth and abdomen.
“P-please. Open the dooooor.” he said in a raspy voice.
“What?” Bly said curiously and Hei sniffed the man. He didn’t seem like he was going to make it.
“T-the tower. It runs on a backup generator that’s p-p-power by a Pokémon. Set it free and let it live a better life. It’s in the lab under the building. P-please…..” were his final words before going with Arceus.
“Let’s honor his wish Hei.” he said as they walked towards the elevator, now clear in sight, but a group for Mightyena blocked the path, snarling and frothing from the mouth. In a synchronous group, they bounded for him. He aimed his pistol and fired a few rounds before killing three of them. Hei bounded and bite one in the neck, its fangs tearing out it jugular and creating a bloody mess. One more sped past Hei and managed to bite Bly in the arms, sinking its fangs deeper. He shakily unsheathed the combat knife and rammed it into its head. He watched as its eyes rolled back into the back of its head. He got up and sighed as he leaned the flat of the blade on his sleeve.
“Well that gets the adrenaline flowing eh?” he chuckled as he smiled at Hei. Hei just huffed and walked to the elevator and waited. He walked to the elevator and decided to mess around with the control panel. It seemed that the power still seemed to be surging through the electrical systems. He heard a small ‘Ding’ and held up his pistol. He aimed down his sights and made sure he was ready. The elevator door opened and there was nobody inside, a giant relief. Bly and Hei walked inside and Bly pressed the button for the ground floor. The door closed again and they were on their way to the bottom floor.
He leaned against the wall and thought. How will this play out? Would he make it out alive? Would Hei make it out? All these thoughts and more spiraled in his mind as he watched the numbers on the top if the elevator go from thirty two to sixteen to seven and then to the words GROUND FLOOR. The door opened and he hopped out, pistol brandished and aimed in different directions. Hei walked out and sniffed the air, and walked him to the lobby. Bly hopped over the counter and tried to access the phones. All were dead. He saw people running for their lives outside as a Garchomp chased them down the street.
Bly wondered how one Pokémon could cause all this destruction. He couldn’t imagine doing all with an army let alone one Pokémon. A hand tapped his should and he spun around as he aimed the gun to a females face. Maria’s face. He lowered it and sighed.
“I almost blew your head off you know.” he said smugly.
Her face was like Derian’s but more feminine. She was a beauty who could snipe from a distance of two thousand yards. It made him envious of her in many different ways. He holstered it and he smiled. He walked towards the elevator and waited for it to open.
“Yeah likewise.” She retorted with a huff.
Bly managed to get the elevator working a second time and looked around for any type of means to get down to the lab. He thought for a second until he realized something. He walked to the control panel and pulled up the overview. He then activated his Tactipad and synched it with the elevators control system. The screen then turned into the elevator control system with one extra function ‘Lab’. He smirked and pressed it.
The elevator shook and settled as it started to go down. Bly put a new magazine in his gun while Maria shouldered her rifle.
“Oh that’s really fair.”
“Hey not my problem you lost your gun.” she winked as she turned back to the door.
Hei just growled at the two and sighed. Did they really have time to flirt right now? He just growled and kept his eyes locked on the door. Anything could happen and he wanted to be absolutely ready. The doors opened and they were set in a narrow hallway. The surface was smooth and reflected their images as if they were a mirror.
It was pure chrome all the way for about half a mile. It looked amazingly scientific and perfect for a hidden laboratory. They walked until they reached a large circular room with many computer screens. In the middle of the room was Professor Winteria, examining a computer screen of a Suicune being detained by multiple electric types. It was a horrible sight to see as the Suicune was brought all the way down. Maria watched in horror as Bly gritted his teeth. He knew the military had some involvement with legendary Pokémon.
“Good good. I’ll report to the Johto base once all accommodations are in place.
And yes. Yes Lighting Battalion will be rewarded. I look forward to my next test subject. Understood. Winteria out.” She said as she put her cell phone back in her pocket, a smirk on her face as if she gained some type of joy from seeing the legendary dog suffer.
“WINTERIA!!!” yelled Maria as she stepped out from the shadows, rifle shouldered and ready to fire. He eyes gave away a fire Bly had never seen before. It was apparent she was angered but to what extent? He hoped she wouldn’t do anything regretful
The long haired woman turned around, clutching the clipboard to her chest. Due to her increase in breathing and widened eyes, it was apparent that she didn’t expect them to be here at all. She put two and two together and realized the military has been tracking her. They must of sent a rescue squad to come and find her before any damage had been done. Great.
“H-hello Maria, Bly and looks like little Hei has joined you as well.” She said trying to find some way of getting past what they had obviously just saw. But they were lowly solders to her, what could they possibly do?
“We have come to secure you and take you back to HQ before this place gets any worse. But I have a few questions first.” She said with a slight ting in her voice.
Winteria was now sweating a bit as Bly walked around the room and looked at the many different things. His hands brushed along the table towards the far right of the room. The smell of black coffee was potent as he picked up a red coffee mug. Many papers and writing were spread out over the desk as well, indicating something about using legendary Pokémon as military weapon.
“Captain? You might want to see these?” he said with a slight warning tone to his voice. Hei began to sniff Winteria until he caught a whiff of another scent, another Pokémon. It trotted past her and sniffed at a wall. Something was behind there and it was trapped.
“Don’t go back-“
“Quiet Winteria. Hei is looking for something and your still being questioned.” Maria said, slowly approaching the scientist, barrel of the gun elevated to her head. She wasn’t one for playing around.
Winteria smirked and gently tilted the head of the rifle downwards and smiled. She knew more than she let on, but it was Maria’s job to get that out of her. A bead of sweat dropped down Winteria’s forehead, an indication there was something important she was hiding. She took a step back but Bly was behind, blocking her path.
“Alright I’ll talk.” she said coyly.
“Legendary Pokémon are among the strongest in the world, aside from specially trained Pokémon. What if we were to harness that power and use it for the good of mankind? Easily, we can use the massive power and create powerful defensive weapons against terrorists and possible out of control Pokémon. We first tried it with an Entei.” she said as a computer screen showed the video of an Entei with an odd collar on.
It was in a rocky mountain area. The Pokémon trashed and bounded about until the collar finally released a major shock that forced it to obey. A soldier came up and commanded a flamethrower to a set of targets. It begrudgingly obeyed and set off a blast of fire which turned the targets to ash.
“But unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned.” she said as the screen turned to another video.
The Entei apparently had enough as it erupted flames from its entire body and it roared loudly. The flames started to melt the collar and the shock device. It roared again and slowly walked toward the camera while still flaming. Soon the camera faded out into a flurry of static. The camera showed one more image of an inferno sweeping across the desert. The camera lens started to stain with the melted metal of the camera casing.
“So that plan failed and that’s when the project was originally scrapped and I was brought in. We attempted the same with a Darkrai as a reboot but that ultimately failed as well and the project officially terminated. Once a few months in, I discovered that if you have a big enough reflective barrier, you can reflect any Pokémon attack and channel it into one powerful attack. So imagine using it with the full power of the military force behind it?”
“You get a weapon enemies fear.” Bly said as he kept the gun pointed at her.
“Correct but in order to do that, you need a force so powerful, it could cripple even the most legendary of Pokémon. That’s where funding and other specifics come in but who do you contact to bind such strong Pokémon? Criminal organizations that’s who. And there is one in particular that does that job the best. I’m sure the name XD001 brings that organization to mind.”
Maria sighed and decided to enlighten Bly. He was new but not stupid as the event was broadcasted over the Pokémon world.
“It was about five years ago when this happened. The SS Libra was attacked and lifted into the air by an unknown force and transported to the desert in Orre. People had no clue what it was until a classified report of a Pokémon causing the incident. Further reports indicate it was a Lugia, but a strange kind. It gave off a shadowy aura. Am I jogging any memories? No? Well how about the words Cipher?”
Bly just stood there as Maria slowly started to reveal more and more information.
Winteria was shaking a bit now as Maria seemed to be getting closer and closer to what Winteria was fearing the most. Hei continued to look for where that smell came from as he sniffed the ground. It leads him to a back hallway where he saw a metal door with a small glass slit that flashed every few seconds. It made him curious as he pawed at the door for a second..
Maria continued her verbal assault, unconsciously gripping her assault rifles handle. Winteria's lips began to tremble as she tried with all her might not to cry. Bly almost felt sorry but he had to remember that she was in suspicion and had to keep his feelings aside. He didn’t even have his hand on the safety but his finger on the trigger. Two months of training failed in 3.5 seconds.
“Yes Cipher. An organization that wishes to take over the world using Pokémon.
We’ve all seen this before but still. It is a useless attempt as somebody magically stops their plans in its tracks. So why Winteria? Why team up with a group that most likely will fail? Just this confrontation gives us enough evidence to lock you up for about ten years for endangering Pokémon. Plus another five for conspiring against the well being of the Pokémon world. Why go through such worthlessness for a monetary gain that will ultimately fail?”
Winteria stepped back and fainted, due to the stress of all that was going on. It was too much for her as Bly quickly holstered the gun and ran up to catch her. She slumped in his arms and then opened her eyes as he caught her. It was her time to reveal her claws. She quickly rammed her elbow into Bly’s stomach and swung her clipboard into his face. He groaned and tried to get his balance but she kicked him in the stomach, not before taking the knife in his shoulder sheath. Once he was on the ground, she pounced on Maria who was holding the rifle sideways to block the knife strike. They struggled for quite awhile until Maria threw Winteria into a computer screen. She
“And that…..is for being a Class A Bitch!” she said as she dropped the rifle and ran
“Bly? Bly!! Get up soldier!” she yelled at him as he slowly started to come to. He had a large gash across his forehead and a few scrapes but was over all fine. He stood up and groaned.
“Damn that was a pain. Sorry captain. She the jump on me and well-“
That was when she had smacked him in the side of the head. It was a light smack but did enough damage to make a point. She was a hard ass but a gentle captain as well.
“A good soldier never apologizes for the unexpected unless he knows he can prevent it. Just hone your reflexes next time and you’ll be fine. Remember your still new so you’re not going to be on a super soldier level right away.” she said as she looked him over like a mother would a child.
“Heh your not so bad yourself. But what happened to your rifle?” he said.
“Oh shit.” she replied
She turned around and saw Winteria holding up Maria’s assault rifle, a red dot appearing on her forehead. She stared in shock as Winteria approached them, a murderous intent in her eyes. She wasn’t just an ordinary scientist.
“You think I am just a fragile flower? A cotton spore that can be easily floated away in the wind? Hehe my friends I am a rose with piercing thorns. I have been trained by some of the best squads in the world. I have the knowledge of over five hundred weapons in my disposal. I can easily kill you both effortlessly. So now do you believe there is any hope you’ll make it out alive?”
Bly watched and couldn’t think of a way out. They were tactically out matched and didn’t have enough power at their disposal. His eyes went from his gun to hers, to Maria’s knife to Maria’s face. Was she thinking the same thing? Maria then whispered softly.
“Exia…… Subdue the target”
Suddenly his eyes turned completely white before the iris turned red. He stiffened and turned to Winteria. His speed and reflexes increased immeasurably as he grabbed the knife from Maris’s shoulder sheath and dashed towards her, eyes completely devoid of emotion. Maria ducked out of the way and rolled into a wall as bullets came flying at her. Winteria had a deadlock on Bly but his enhanced movements were too much as he slid into her legs, knocking her off balance. Before she could completely fall, he swiveled to the side and rammed the knife through her left shoulder, the blade visibly pointing out from the other side. The final blow was struck when he grabbed her head and slammed it into the nearest computer screen, blood flowing down and pooling on the floor.
Maria looked at him as if he was a demon. She couldn’t imagine the normal Bly becoming this violent and destructive. It was disturbing to her……and also a bit arousing. She stood up and brushed herself off as she walked towards Bly, concern with which how to turn him back to normal.
“Bly? Can you hear me?” she said as she waved a hand in front of his face. No response.
Winteria struggled to get free and broke away from the soldiers grip and began to run away but Bly quickly grabbed her left arm and twisted it behind her back, increasing the pain and the volume of her screaming. He looked down at her and turned to Maria.
“Are we to kill the detainee?” he said as he brought her roughly to Maria. She though and figured technically that would be unethical. She shook her head and sighed.
“We need to bring her in for questioning so no, but keep her under watch while I figure out what our next move is. Hey your Tactipad is damaged.” she said softly as she lifted up her other hand and examined the screen. The screen was cracked and spider webbed with a bullet in the middle. He raised it up to his face and looked at it.
“A monetary loss. We detained the target and obtained the intelligence. Not much to worry about. I will get a replacement ASAP.” He said as his hands went back to his sides. He was acting like a true hardened soldier until Hei came around the corner barking. The sound of the barks snapped him out of his trance. He looked around to see what was going on.
“Wha-whats going on?” he said as he slowly turned his head to Maria. She pointed back at him and sighed. He looked down and almost jumped as he saw a battered Winteria. Looking around, he wondered what could have did this.
“Cap-captain? Did you do this?” he ask as he leaned Winteria against a wall.
“Well you see the thing is….” She began until Hei started tugging on Bly’s leg angrily as if it was trying to lead him somewhere.
“Hei geez what is it?!” he said going along with the Houndour to see the issue. He lead him back to the door where light was flashing through the slit. Maria came up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned back as she gave him a nod to go ahead. He turned to Hei and smiled.
“Hei use Flamethrower on the door.”
The temperature in the room grew hotter and hotter as flames spilled from Hei’s mouth before becoming concentrated in bright orange and red stream aimed directly at the center. It took approximately five minutes before the door had a smoldering hole in the middle of the door big enough two people to go through at the same time. Maria and Bly both went in and looked in awe at the sight.
It was a black tower around twenty feet high. It had electric wires surging around the base of it. Small lightning rods protruded from the sides and top. There was only a small square opening in the middle where a Pokémon was attached to small clamps. It had a orange circular like body with lightning bolts on its ends made out of plasma. It released an disturbing amount of electricity before opening its shut eyes. It seemed as if the machine went from accepting the energy to drain it from the poor Rotom. It seemed as if it was in major pain and Bly wanted to help it. He took one step closer but Maria stopped him.
“You need to learn to watch your surroundings more. One more step and you would’ve died.” She said as she pointed to the electrical wires sparking wildly. The seemed to be letting out a lot of volts. He thought for a second and had an idea.
“If we shoot the wires, we can cancel out the flow and make our way through.” He said as he pulled it out.
He didn’t wait for Maria to complain or detest as he shot at the wires. His pinpoint accuracy was amazing as his bullets sliced through the wires with ease. He made his way to the tower after about two minutes. He looked at the small silver button that read “Emergency Shut Off”. Something didn’t add up.
“Emergency shut off? Wait if that’s the emergency shut off switch, then where is-“
Before he could finish, Maria had cleared her throat and pointed to the red off switch right next to her. Hei rolled his eyes as Maria just shook her head in embarrassment as he mentally beat himself up.
“I knew that!”
“Dumbass.” She replied.
He ignored that comment and began to lower the chamber that the Rotom was in with a switch on the right hand side. The tower made a whirring noise and lowered slowly. He waited until the Rotom and he were face to face. He imagined an angry and spiteful Pokémon, but as soon as hit was released, it levitated towards him and nuzzled up to him. He was shocked at its actions and confused beyond relief. He thought he was going to be shock but the Pokémon looked at him with pleading eyes, eyes happy to see another living being after being locked up.
“Hey hey little guy!” he said as it zipped around him quickly, back and forth all over his body.
The Rotom didn’t care and zoomed everywhere until it notice his broken Tactipad. It saw the small sparks of electricity and decided to dive right into the device. His wrist glowed a bright yellow before fading. The touch screen was completely repaired and any and all scratches were repaired. The outer casing of the device became a dark orange. And a small Rotom appeared on the screen, moving fluidly and happily.
“Whoa that’s pretty cool.” He said as he ran back over to Maria and showed her. Hei wasn’t so impressed.
“Hmmm not bad. You’re going to be its sole care taker. The military doesn’t take in strays often. Think you can handle it?” Maria said as she petted Hei.
“I can do this no problem. Between him and Hei, they shouldn’t cause too much destruction.” He said hopefully being right.
They both returned the a casual glance and climbed back out the hole and walked back towards the lab only to find Winteria in the arms of an Alakazam. The pulled there pistols and aimed. Without hesitation, the fired off multiple rounds but no avail did it work. Alakazam setup a psychic barrier and the bullets harmlessly fell to the floor. Winteria flashed a cocky smile and laughed.
“Well I’m sorry about our little scuffle but it’s best I be going. Cipher is waiting to see my latest military findings and work on the legendary project. But feel free to try to stop us. I guarantee that we’ll win this time. And you Maria…..we’ll have our
fun really soon.”
The Alakazam glowed with white then multicolor before disappearing completely. Maria sighed and looked around. They couldn’t go back to HQ without some type of formal evidence. Bly ran to the computer and activated the synchronization device in his Tactipad. Soon random files came up and he sighed.
“It’ll take weeks to search through theses files, months even. We need a AI device to go through everything. I can do my best now but it’ll take some time.”
And as he said that, a countdown timer in giant red letters. It gave them twenty minutes to go through the computer or else something bad would happen. And there was no indication on what would happen. Bly groaned and activated a low key AI system off his pad. It wasn’t military grade but good enough to sweep through files. He pulled up the search bar and tried every specific he could but no luck. Hei desperately wanted to char broil the computer but since Maria was giving him a death stare, it was a no go.
“This is bad, I already wasted three minutes. I need something more powerful like a…..huh?’
The Rotom started to buzz around his device but it wasn’t alone. It seemed as if it was dancing around with another Pokémon. It was the Porygon from the few hours before. It floated around the Rotom and its eyes let it know it was happy.
“Why do I have a Porygon in my Tactipad? He said as he shook it a bit, watching them jumble up and down.
Maria, knowing full well how it may have got there, decided to tell him her version of what happened. She decided that honesty was the best kind of policy. She was a militaristic leader who was revered by all and feared none. A decorated captain with medals proving her bravery. Tell the truth was the least she could do to this soldier who was forced against his will into a top secret program. She place a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“Haven’t a clue Bly but we need to get out of here. You should be able to stay synched as we make our way up stairs cause if this is a bomb them we are screwed.”
She had a point. He types in a few commands and the Porygon nodded and went through sorting the classified files at a great pace. Maria, Hei, and Bly all looked at each other and ran towards the elevator. After placing his hand on the control panel, Rotom sent out a surge of electricity into the elevator and got it to activate. They loaded in and smiled at one another, even Hei returned the smirk. The elevator stopped every now and then as electricity began to fade in and out. Maria decided to take advantage and contact the rest of the team.
“Luna? Yeah…..yes…..it’s still intact?!? Well hell bring it along topside. Yeah…. Yeah and double time too. Ok….I’m sending coordinates now. Yeah and hurry you have 10 minutes.”
He heard an audible click before she turned to him with a smile.
“Our bird is in the air and coming to get us so let’s get moving.”
“Right!” Bly responded
The ride going up was long and antagonizing. Being in cramped close quarters with a girl and a Pokémon made Bly feel claustrauphobic. He just reminded himself that he was a soldier. He had to deal with it. Looking at his pad, Rotom was looking pretty claustrophobic as well. The Porygon had expanded a box the scrunched Rotom to the side as it dug through it. He just snickered and let it do whatever it needed to do.
“Ok Bly, the roof is inaccessible once we hit the twentieth flight. After that we have three floors until we are on the roof so we have to give it everything we got. Hei will be our back-up won't you boy." she said with a slight baby as she scratched it's ears.
He nodded and put a new clip into his pistol and brandished the knife the was in Winteria's arm, in the other. Maria just stuck with her knife while Hei had growled as fire gently spewed from his mouth.
They had five minutes left on the counter as the elevator made its final ding. The elevator opened and they had reached another area filled with cubicles. He groaned and started to sprint towards the stairs, which were in plain sight and directly from the elevator. Maria and Hei brought up the rear and made sure nothing happened to Bly.
The safely made it towards the stairs and began running up them at a sprinting pace. An alarm went off on Bly pad. He checked it and saw Rotom and Porygon dancing happily around a small box onscreen. It had seemed Porygon had managed to received all of the high level files that contained the information on the legendary project.
“Yes! The three of us make an awesome team!" he said as he acknowledge the Pokémon.
Rotom managed to repair his Tactipad, a vital importance towards the mission, and keep it functioning. Porygon was the biggest help as it recovered the files faster than any program ever could. Hei was an amazing help too. His brawn help Bly fight those Mightyena and keep him moving forward. He wondered if Hei respected him yet.
“Ummm hello? What about the commanding captain? The person who kept this operation running smoothly?" she said smiling wryly as the made it to the last floor.
“Ehhh you helped a bit. Making sure to annoy Winteria enough was a good assist."
The roof was bare and desolate except for the massive radio antenna sitting in the middle. They both sighed and hoped the chopper would reach them on time. The sky was still darkened but it seems the military was able to help escort stranded civilians. Thank Arceus.
Another timer appeared on his Tactipad and both Porygon and Rotom looked extremely grave. The red letters flashed from five to four to three to two to one. Nothing happened. Nothing happened for around seven minutes until a loud muffled blast was heard. They all looked over the side and saw flames erupting from the sides. It was spreading quickly to the top.
“Gah I didn't think with a name like Winteria, you would think of a more ice related way to die." Maria said as she saw the chopper come into view.
“Here’s our bird!" Bly yelled as it hovered over the building, dropping down rope for them to climb up on.
Bly tugged at the rope and turned to Maria, motioning for her to go up first. She was about to protest but Bly just argued more. She gave in and climbed up the rope. Luna and Sola helped pull her in as they looked at her with pleading eyes.
“Where’s Bly?!?!?!?" they said in unison.
“Crap send the rope back down he's waiting." she said as she could feel the flames from the helicopter.
Bly feel to one knee and groaned. The flames and lack of oxygen made it almost impossible for him to move. He felt light headed and sleepy. He turned to Hei and wrapped the rope around his body. He gave took off his Tactipad and wrapped it around Hei's right leg.
“Take this back and let them uncover the truth." Bly said with a grin on his face.
Hei suddenly realized it. Bly did care. He was worthy, selfless, cheerful and always willing to do the right thing. Hei wanted to be his loyal Pokémon now and only wished he had saw all of these qualities earlier. It made him bark out in protest at his actions. Rotom and Porygon made noise as well as they left the Tactipad, hovering and making noise in protest at his actions. They were trying to say that he was being selfish, that what would happen to them if he died.
Bly groaned weakly and stood up shakily as he was feeling lightheaded. He groaned and tugged on the rope for support. He put Rotom on his shoulder and Porygon on Hei. With the last amount of strength he had, he jumped and grabbed the portion above Hei. As if on cue the building exploded, propelling the two gang straight into the helicopter.
They all were a jumbled mess as they tried to get their bearings straight, Bly coughing up smoke. They managed to get him an oxygen tank and put him on his back. He coughed a bit but otherwise was ok.
“Seems you've got the fan club here." Tarkov said as he looked the Rotom over, scaring it enough that it hid behind Maria.
Bly let out a small chuckle.
“There my new friends. I couldn't leave them back in that building." he said as he leaned up, Luna and Sola almost in tears.
Maria thought and looked at the little group.
“Well Hei is an amazing partner and seems to have accepted you somewhat. Porygon would make an amazing AI system for you Tactipad and Rotom would keep you from paying for another one." she said laughing at that last one.
He saw what she was doing. Leaning up and smiling, he spoke.
“So how about it guys? Do you want to join me to help stop Winteria and Cipher!"
They all looked at each other and there glances gave away their answer in an instant.
