I understand that Transform fails if the target is in the middle of Fly, Dig, Dive, and moves of the sort (in addition to failing against Substitute, Illusion, and already transformed Pokemon). Does this apply to Imposter ability?

Also, Imposter, does it cut PPs down to 5 like Transform does?
I believe Imposter is just Transform in an ability and works the exact same way, but if someone wants to confirm that by tests that would be appreciated. However, Imposter Ditto is unavailable afaik so it will have to be done by cheating.

Something else that came up. I've read in plenty of places online that Transform and Imposter DO NOT copy the opponent's ability. I think that's also worth confirming and adding to the Encyclopedia if necessary.

Ash and I just tested this, actually. Transforming copies its opponents ability; I tried this against one of the Triple Battles in Opelucid on White. Prior to Transform, Ditto couldn't be Paralyzed with Thunder Wave due to Limber (I think the Thunder Wave was from Swoobat, but that doesn't really matter here), but I was able to get Ditto Paralyzed as soon as it was able to Transform, meaning Simisage's Gluttony overwrote Limber.

Too bad it doesn't show the resultant ability once your Transformed in the status screen. It still said Limber and I had PAR on ._.

Is anyone still looking at this? I believe my current forum battle is stuck because of this and, well...yeah...

    Yeah, short PM. ^^;
I dunno. I checked on Smogon's official battle simulator and I realized that Transform does indeed fail when the opposition uses Dig. However, Imposter doesn't.
You should post that in the reffing FAQ. I've asked about it but no one has answered yet.

I've been doing some testing lately and I thought it worthwhile to post the results. UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE, ALL TESTING IS DONE IN BLACK OR BLACK 2 (Possibly White or White 2 if I find myself needing something from those). Some things may be missing turns that didn't affect the test subject, such as the testee smacking.

    A @ Choice Item

B uses Fake Out on A.
    A flinches.

Next turn A can choose a different move.
    A Unburden @ Gem
B faster than A only when Unburden isn't active

    B moves
    A moves

    B moves
    A moves, uses Gem

    A moves
B moves, uses Worry Seed on A

    B moves
    A moves

In conclusion, losing Unburden removes the rise.
    Dunsparce @ Life Orb
Hydreigon, higher level, EV Trained in HP, much more HP than Dunsparce

    Hydreigon uses Roost, fails
Dunsparces uses Endeavor on Hydreigon. Dunsparce lost some of its HP.
    Magnemite @ Life Orb

Magnemite uses SonicBoom (misses three times)
Magnemite uses SonicBoom. Magnemite lost some of its HP.

I couldn't find anything with Seismic Toss or Night Shade, but I see no reason why it would differ. If you feel differently, I can try to test it again OR YOU CAN.
    Corphish @ Life Orb

    Corphish uses Guillotine, KO.

    No recoil.

    Mewtwo @ Choice Scarf
    Espeon @ Rocky Helmet
    Pidove @ who cares

    Pidove switches to Mewtwo.
    Espeon uses Calm Mind.
    Wild Pokémon do stuff.

Mewtwo uses Trick on Espeon. Choice Scarf for Rocky Helmet.
    Espeon uses Morning Sun.
    Mewtwo @ Choice Specs
    Espeon @ Rocky Helmet
    Pidove @ who cares

Pidove switches to Mewtwo. Dies to Pursuit from wild Liepard.
    Espeon uses Calm Mind.
    Other wild Liepard Pursuits Espeon.
    Mewtwo is sent out.

    Espeon uses Morning Sun.
Mewtwo uses Trick on Espeon, Choice Specs for Rocky Helmet.
Pusuit on Espeon, Pursuit on Mewtwo.

    Espeon uses Calm Mind.
    Mewtwo uses Recover.
    Pursuit on Espeon x2.
This may seem obvious to URPGers, but Smogon said otherwise so I had to test it. Using Trick doesn't lock into a move previously used.

    Breloom 123 HP
Ferroseed Iron Barbs @ Rocky Helmet

Breloom uses Drain Punch. Iron Barbs does 15 damage, Rocky Helmet does 20 damage (20.5 before rounding). KO.
Rocky Helmet rounded down. Draining --> Iron Barbs --> Rocky Helmet.

    Spoink
Breloom Poison Heal (Poisoned and injured to start with)
    Wild Minccino
    Wild Breloom

Breloom uses Spore on wild Minccino.
Wild Liepard uses Pursuit on Spoink. (I think it was a crit)
    Minccino sleeps.
    Spoink uses Rest.
    Poison Heal.

    Breloom uses Spore on Liepard.
    Liepard sleeps.
    Minccino wakes and uses Swift.
    Spoink uses Snore on Breloom.
    Poison Heal.

    Potion on Spoink.
    Breloom uses Spore on Minccino.
    Liepard sleeps.
    Minccino sleeps.
    Poison Heal.

Breloom uses Spore on Liepard, fails.
    Liepard uses Pursuit on Spoink.
    Minccino sleeps.
    Spoink uses Snore on Breloom.
    Poison Heal.

Spoink wakes and uses Magic Coat.
    Breloom uses Spore on Liepard.
    Liepard sleeps.
    Minccino sleeps.
    Poison Heal.
This one will only come in Wonder Launcher, but I figured it's worth knowing just in case. Uses an item with that Pokémon DOESN'T increase sleep count.

    Espeon @ Choice Scarf
    Mewtwo @ Choice Specs

    Espeon uses Calm Mind.
Mewtwo uses Trick on Espeon. Choice Specs for Choice Scarf.
    Wild Pokémon.

    Mewtwo uses Recover.
    Espeon uses Morning Sun.
    Wild Pokémon.
This came up in an Elite Four battle recently. Swapping Choice Items unlocks you.

EDIT: This should be posted somewhere other than page 380ish of general chat. It was from gen 5, but probably still valid.

    Next turn:

Blaziken used Brave Bird on Gigalith, KO. It did 17 damage. Blaziken took 6 recoil. (17/3=5.6666666666...)

That means recoil can round either up or down in gen 5, depending which is closer, as Smogon says.

    EDIT:

    Tested Rage too.

Darmanitan used Hammer Arm on Aggron, 32 damage.

Darmanitan used Rage (then got Encored into Rage, I think it got 6 boosts).

Darmanitan used Hammer Arm on Aggron, 116 damage.

Rage boosts work for all physical moves, not just Rage.

    New Snatch mechanics for XY

If two Pokémon use Snatch on the same turn, the faster Pokémon will Snatch the first Snatchable move, then the slower Pokémon will Snatch the next Snatchable move used that turn, meaning each gets to Snatch from a different opponent. If a Pokémon Snatches Psych Up, Psych Up will target whichever Pokémon used Psych Up.

Go to the Reffing encyclopedia, which is right below this thread, and it will have a link in it to the first part of the test, and it will explain everything you need to know about how to become a ref.
