The firball had wrecked total havock on the buildings nearby. Scorch marks stretched all along the brick and concreted walls to either side of him, and he was amazed that he didn't look the same way after something like that. Trilroy had only but a moment to recooperate, as he knew that the longer he stayed sitting in that position, in that place, the more vulnerable he was to further attack. And after he had gathered himself, taking a deep breath, he got up and quickly (but casually) walked away from the incident.
The Fire Dept. passed him as he walked by, their loud yells to those behind them and clammering hastiness revealed to him that this was a great shock to everyone involved. Apparantly, Phenac had never been attacked like this before. And as he looked on, he noticed that it was an all human Fire Dept...no pokemon, not even water types, were present. Luckily for the city, he surmised, that the fireball didn't linger all over the place. Otherwise, the entire area could have been engulfed in a roaring inferno.
"Watch where you're going!" A fireman yelled at him as he and Trilroy ran into eachother. The latter, not paying attention, fell to the ground as the fireman clammered over him and ran towards the scene of the attack.
"Sorry!" Trilroy called back, sitting down as if it were a futile effort to get up in all the commotion. Instead, he just waited it out.
Sitting there, he looked to his left and right, and wave after wave of fireman came. Was there really a need for all these people? There wasn't any fire...then again, in a desert city like Phenac, any fire was a huge issue. Sighing, Trilroy put his arms to the ground behind him and he leaned back. Something wasn't right with all of this, but he couldn't place is finger on it. Was it all the people? Was it the fact that the previous meeting spot had just been blown up? No, that wasn't it. Not that he didn't care, but he didn't even know the place...he was just there on business...no, it had to be something else...
Then all of sudden, he realized what it was. He reached for his pockets...they were empty. Where were his pokeballs?! He frantically searched for them, and thankfully, he found them not even a few feet from where he had fallen. Getting up from his butt and onto his knees, and casually crawled over to them and picked them up, thankful that they hadn't rolled off somewhere.
"Dammit guys, don't do that to me..." He said quietly, smiling.
His eyes closed in a grin...he ddin't realize until he opened them and turned his head, that the fireman who he had ran into a few seconds before was now staring at him. It took a moment for Trilroy to register, but finally he realized. The pokeballs were in plain sight in his hands. The fireman must have been watching the entire time. His eyes wide with fear, Trilroy stared back at the man. Shaking his head 'no', he silently pleaded with the man so that no one else could know what was happening.
"Please, no!" Trilroy mouthed silently, to where only the one fireman could see.
At first, it looked like he was going to oblige. The man turned away slowly, keeping his eyes on Trilroy but still, looking as though he would leave. But then, for no apparant reason, it seemed as though he thought better against it. Turning back around to face him, he pulled out a radio from his holster. And to the dismay of Trilroy, he called out for his comrades.
"You're not gonna believe what I just found!"
