If I knew what the problem was, I'd help. .-.

In relevance to the PG chat, I'm against it. Like Airik said, it's the parent's responsibility to shield their children from things on the internet they don't want their child seeing. Additionally, I highly doubt any of us would use it anyways. :/ I mean, I know I wouldn't go in a PG chat. plus we break the pg-13 rule sometimes anyways, so yeah.

PG-13 chat is an idea that I would support if it would ever work.

The "not posting mature content" thing has nothing to do with us patrolling what younger members see on the internet. If they want to go and look that stuff up themselves they can, and none of us will stop them. However it's also not our responsibility nor is it appropriate for us to expose them to it ourselves.

It's really very simple. If you and your friends want to share porn around in real life, no-one is going to stop you. I just really hope you would be smart enough not to do that with kids in the room. This is exactly the same situation.

No its not our responsibility to show them indecent images or to expose them to anything and I'm sure no one would see it as there sacred duty my point is simply that its not our duty to shield them from it either and those of us who have a tendency to make a dirty comment here or there shouldn't have to censor ourselves purely because some parents are to damned lazy to monitor there children's internet usage. You say you would support such a policy if it was to work, does this mean you doubt if it would genuinely work or would be used. Let me get this clear thou we are merely discussing language that may be seen as potentially distasteful no one here except for you has mentioned intentionally engaging under-age children in Rude and potentially illegal behaviour such as the sharing of pornographic images my argument is simply that I am against curbing my language on the grounds that a child might be present, as I have previously stated it is not my responsibility to protect peoples children from the dangers of the world and the internet it is the parent or guardians responsibility to monitor there childs internet usage and making sure they are viewing or participating in content they find appropriate for there child

If a child sees something that causes them offence then they will likely remove themselves from the situation, if a parent has an issue then its there job to stop and protect there child, if there child stumbles onto something untoward then its there fault for not monitoring there childs internet usage. Now I know that this is a pokemon game and pokemon is aimed at children, but when pokemon was released I was a child and its one of those things that's stayed with me until now when i'm 26 why should I censor myself because some parents are frankly to lazy to take a real interest in what there children are doing. Another argument against this is that I have worked in the local school system here, and frankly the majority of children from around the 13/14+ age bracket (probably the age most likely to be drawn into urpg and have less parental monitoring) would make the average adult urpger blush with shame at some of the comments they make. A case in point Midnight ghost (more affectionately known as mg - you know the guy who just activities his way to victory in tourneys) my first real encounter with him was while we was playing a game similar to pictionary via the internet a group of us where in the room and every time he got the chance to draw, he drew a penis in there - he is a 14 yr old and frankly from my experiences his behaviour is fairly common among other children of his age frankly for the most part they will probably enjoy the adult themes of the conversation or pretend they understand in an effort to look cool those truly offended will just not come back, and frankly i wont be sad to see them go if there not willing to join in and have a laugh

He also spelled "there" instead of "their" a lot. Normal (AND ONLY NORMAL BECAUSE GRAMMAR SUCKS) I'm not the type of asshole who points these type of things out, but, come on bro, get it right at least once.

I'm pretty sure that, judging by myself when I was that age/younger pupils at my school, most 12 or 13 year olds don't really care about seeing dirty images and don't get affected by them, and it's mainly just people trying to be overprotective.

I'm indifferent to this entirely. I mean, I wouldn't use the chat, so why should it affect me and my time in URPG? As long as they're separate and nothing happens between them, I say go ahead. While the more mature players shouldn't have to necessarily be censored more than the acceptable level of PG-13, I also feel like the more sensitive and younger players shouldn't have to be exposed to some of the things that go on in the main blast chat.

Again, I don't really care, but I don't really see the need of one to happen. If somebody doesn't want in [URPG Chat], nobody is forcing them to be in it. There are plenty of successful forum goers that have no need for AIM.

Another thing to bring up; would we have to have a PG Battle Chat too? There sure be a lot of Blaziken rape in there XD

What is being asked of you is roughly the same as asking you to not go into public and hand out pornography to children or shout obscenities at them. I shouldn't think that should be too much to ask.

It's really easy. We call it PG-13, but it's more a common sense line than anything else - that's all being asked of us, and really, it shouldn't have to be asked of us. Don't share pornography and don't go overboard with the sexual organ talk, that should be naturally obvious here on a Pokemon forum that will naturally attract young children (for comparison, I joined when I was 11, and URPG exposed me to things I shouldn't have been exposed to at such a young age).

We still do break "PG-13" on occasion today, but URPG mods are fine with that and personally, I enjoy having a bit of wiggle room. However, going overboard and in depth into porn/sex discussion (and I admit I'm partly guilty to this lol, but I try), is just dumb.

And on the topic of parents protecting children: That's complete BS. How many parents today actually control their kids' Internet rights, particularly when most kids know the Internet better than their parents? Some still do, but how many will ban against a Pokemon forum? For better or for worse, that's the reality of it.

Maybe they don't care, but either way, it's still a problem. 12/13 year olds shouldn't be exposed to things like this regardless of whether they care or not - it's part of what leads our society to some kids losing their virginity at like, 13-14 years old.
