So, having just returned from a nearly 3 year internet hiatus, I'm wondering, what's going on with the URPG on PE2K? It's like, Dead... Do I have to come here if I want to keep playing?

Edit: I sincerely hope not. I dramatically prefer the visual effect PE2K had to this. I am having a hard time with it.

The URPG is still considered active on PE2K, however unfortunately due to low activity on the forum as a whole this is very much the Central Hub of the URPG. Feel free to play wherever you like though :)

Well, PE2K has a somewhat steady (yet low) amount of new members. BMG is just a much more popular forum than PE2K, so it tends to attract more new members. We do still occasionally get new members from PE2K though. All in all though, the bulk of URPG still happens on AIM, so whichever forum you're partial to shouldn't affect things much.

PE2K doesn't have a particular niche, so the forum as a whole has been dying out.

There are more people who call BMG home than those who call PE2K home, and majority rules.

PE2K was suffering from crippling lag issues up until not very long ago, so those of us who used PE2K came to BMG to escape the lag.

Personally, I subscribe to the last one. I used to do all my roleplaying over on PE2K until it got to the point where a post took five minutes to submit. Anyway, like Monbrey and Roulette have said, you can still do everything on PE2K if you wish, and the majority of URPGing happens on the AIM messaging service anyway.

Alternatively, try using a different skin.

Yaaaay more vets are coming back. I think one of the skins looks like the default PE2K one if that's in any way helpful.

It must be a completely new generation of URPGers then, because of well over a hundred AIM contacts I had when I left, less than a dozen of them have been on in the last few hours.

Again, it seems I've been a little dated; any advice on how to become integrated into the current URPG-on-AIM community? I saw the list, but it's pretty minimal looking; will I have to resort to trolling people's stats for their usernames?

There's also a thread labelled AIM on the front page that has everyone's AIM listed, if you want to go through and add 'em all.

Yeah, the best way to get integrated is to post your name in the URPG AIM thread, and people will add you. Also, do what was just said, contact a URPG Admin and they'll add you to the URPG Blast Chat.

A Blast Chat is a group chat that is always active, and you can't join - you can only be invited to it.

What's a blast chat?

I invited you. It's essentially a permanent chat room with every URPGer in it and it puts everyone in the chat on your buddy list. So it's a way to get everyone's name and a way to communicate with everyone at once. Makes it a lot easier to find refs and battles and such.
