Battleships is a simulator which allows you to play battleships with other players by directly challenging them.
- Requires to sign up.
- Different turn times means that a game doesn't have to be finished in one sitting; you and your opponent can resume the game at a later point in time.
Instructions
To challenge another player, go to their profile (you can see their name on the Online list at the bottom of the screen) and click on "Challenge". Choose a mode (assume Traditional - Classic as the standard) and a turn time. 'Rapid' means both players have a minute to make moves, 'Casual' means both players have one day to make moves and 'Long term' means both players have a week to make moves.
If someone has challenged you, next to the 'Profile' link you will see that you have a new unread message which is shown as the number of unread messages you currently have. In the message there will be a link saying "Click here to battle." Click it to accept the challenge.
After challenging someone, or accepting a challenge, you will now be asked to place your ships. You can drag and drop the ships onto the board. If you see a red border around a ship, it means you cannot place the ship at that location. This depends on the game mode you are playing, for example, in Traditional game modes, you must leave a gap between your ships. The Start Battle button will appear when all your ships have been placed in valid locations!
The next screen you see will be the play screen, or game screen. On the left is your Attack Board. When the Attack Board border is green it is your turn and you can attack by clicking on it. When you hit an enemy ship, you will see an explosion on that square. If you miss, you will see a splash. You win when you have destroyed all 5 of the enemy ships.
The board on the right is the Status Board. It displays the status of your own ships. If all of your ships are completely hit, you will lose the battle.
Players will keep taking turns to attack enemy ships until one player wins. Your screen will automatically update if your opponent has made a turn, so there is no need to refresh the page.
