Re: Welcome to the upgraded Bulbagarden Forums!
Is a link really needed most of the time? I'd have thought the most useful part of that (the Japanese to English character names for example) could simply be done with the abbreviations feature, so you get a hover over of the translation, rather than a link off to an article?
Re: Welcome to the upgraded Bulbagarden Forums!
Is there a way to force-disable parsing of specific keywords to links?
Let me try this:
Blitzle
Noparse tags work.

@
Mijzelffan, I'm afraid that Tournaments and everything else up there is there to stay. I'm guessing your screen resolution is relatively small?
1024 x 768. Which is appearently the most common resolution.

I approve.
Ditto, someone gets linked to Victini whenever the second part of my username is used.
I also approve.
Oh, and I bet someone will be linked to the page on Ditto because I used it up there, won't they. :p

I'm beginning to wonder whether we can selectively hide certain buttons on the shortcut bar depending on screen size...
(I'm on a 1920x1080 monitor, so I use a 1280x900 window size for browsing. It's a easy thing to resize windows to an exact size in IE, but I have to do it manually in other browsers.)
I think Live Feeds should strip out all BBCode and remove all quotes...

The most common resolution on Bulbagarden (used by more than a quarter of our users) is 1366x768. 85%+ users use a resolution with the width (that first number) higher than 1024. So those 2012 stats I just linked are kinds representative of us.
Having said that, 1024's on the site are a little over 10%, so that's still a significant number. Hmmmm.
Alright, I'll disable the tournaments navbar tab for now. The tournaments system does currently seem to be underutilised. I'll see what we can do to make that system better utilised if we're going to put it up there.
BTW, I've also switched the linking to Bulbapedia to specific forums now. Current list sits are
Garden Grotto and its sub-forums
Pokémon News section
Pokémon Video Games section
Pokémon Media section
Pokémon World section
Bulbawiki General Forum
Bulbagarden Buy & Sell Section

I really hope that there are no memory leaks or anything on the live feed. With all the tabs I always have open, Chrome is using 300megs at any given time. I don't want that to be increased just by having the front page of BMGf up.
Re: Welcome to the upgraded Bulbagarden Forums!
Funnny. Blitzle took me to google.

Why would there be any memory leaks? It's using an AJAX system, the same way as our forum threads do.

Memory leak? Firefox and IE doesn't use that much memory. Then again, given the amount of memory computers these days have installed, it's a moot point. Besides, I don't see leaks in my way.

That's because System Error used an URL tag as follows:

Um...Whenever I view a post, the word "of" is highlighted. Does this have to do with the upgrade or is it a user error?

It shouldn't happen - it's not happening on my side. Try viewing the same thing with a different browser?
Re: Welcome to the upgraded Bulbagarden Forums!
Ah, wait, I fixed it. Thanks for your help anyway, Twiggy.
