A character swearing in a fanfiction should not be an infractable offence.

Shouldn't really be an offense at all, really. Swearing should not be something that is encouraged or discouraged, just let alone. Although there is a rule against bleeping things out, that I completely agree with. If you're going to swear, do it properly.

You are seeing something I'm not dude....

He asked about what 40 points equals, 2 or 3 months. According to him, two sources, your image and the front of the thread, contradict each other as to what 40 points equals. You gave him information about what happens when you get 30 infraction points.

There's no rule about bleeping things out... People might find it annoying, but there's no rule I'M aware of against doing it.

I mean, in the fanfic forum. Here's what Blackjack said:

- We don't care what other sites do. Bulbagarden has no swear filter and as such we expect you to present accordingly. If you don't want to use certain words, don't use a string of asterisks instead; word it so that the word is implied rather that used.

I think what it means is, if you're doing it (the bleeping) just for humour, it's okay, but if you're actually censoring out words because you don't want to say them explicitly, then it's not.

And that "asterics" still hasn't been corrected in the original post (I fixed it above). I commented on it a month ago... must have been missed.

Yes. Bans are calculated based on current infraction points.

Well, I guess we should be extra careful then. Two or more X day bans within a short time of each other would not be a nice thing.

It seems kind of strange, because it looks like it's almost impossible to actually reach 50 points. After 2 months have passed with 40, all minor infractions will have expired.

Between Level II infractions and just general bad behavior, it isn't impossible. Often, a user will make a string of posts that are infraction-worthy and they will accumulate to a permaban.

Well, I wasn't saying that it was an infraction, just that it was a rule.

And if it were an infraction, I don't think it should be worth any more than 1 point. I think 4 points is a bit much. Or is that just a maximum?
