Recently, we've noticed that a number of users have been providing links to sites that allow people to watch full episodes of the anime. This is quite illegal and has the potential to get this website in some serious trouble, so a decision has been made to start cracking down on this type of behavior.

• Anyone who posts a link to streaming episodes (i.e. episodes on YouTube, DailyMotion, etc.) will receive three infraction points.

Subsequent violators will receive a short-term ban regardless of how many infraction points he or she has accumulated up to that point.
• Anyone providing instructions for illegal downloading/streaming without providing a link (i.e. "go to YouTube and search for user blablabla...he has the episodes you want) gets three infraction points. Subsequent violations get five infraction points.
• A user asking where to watch an episode gets a warning. Cartoon Network reruns the show fairly regularly, so if someone misses the premier of a new dub episode, check the network's website to find out when it's airing next. As far as the Japanese version goes, you guys can go to sites like CD Japan and Yes Asia and purchase the DVDs that are available. As for the rest of the series that hasn't been released on DVD...you're on your own.

This obviously does not apply to Toonami Jetstream (which has legal streaming episodes), preview clips on the TV-Tokyo/official movie websites, or anything else that's shown through an official site.

Basically, what it all boils down to is that any discussion of streaming and/or downloading needs to be kept off Bulbagarden. If you do decide to download episodes of the show or whatever, then we can't stop you - just confine stuff like that through e-mail or IM.

Does this mean that those people cannot PM links, hints, and such? Since you said e-mail/IM

So I assume this means no plans for an embeddable video option.

Is this all YouTube/Megaupload links, or just Pokemon ones?

All. Yes, that includes series not licensed for English release.

Of course, if the company themselves has put it up for free distribution (as a small number of companies like GONZO are currently experimenting with on Youtube and Crunchyroll), that's fair game.

I have some blog entries I made around Halloween that have (non anime) YouTube links in them (a reading of The Raven, Thriller, a 30 Rock clip). So, do those have to go down? Or just anime?

Clips are okay. FULL EPISODES is what is forbidden.

I assume that if it's a YouTube link to something original it's alright. Am I correct?

Also, how does this affect (for instance) links to AMVs etc.?

What about redirecting them here? it's suppose to be legal

FUNimation recently put a number of animes themselves up on Youtube. Entire seasons of them, and in one case, two seasons. This was announced on their website and their podcasts that they were doing it.

KeyholeTV is fine.

If FUNi actually put something up themselves, those are fine too, but only to the places FUNi put them up, not to unauthorized locations.

I posted a video of the pentominium in friend or foe and someone said.

If what you're linking to ISN'T a full episode (or, say, "Episode 325 Part 4 of 5" type thing), you don't have to worry.
