I'm not referring to another Grass/Poison starter (could be any dual-typing) or referring to the final forms of starters. I'm just meaning first form. I think it's unlikely to happen again.

I kind of agree, if you recall Bulbasaur being part Poison meant he wasn't vulnerable to Poison or Bug (a good thing) and was immune to getting Poison status in addition to Leech Seeds, HOWEVER he also lost vulnerability to Ground and acquired a major weakness to Mewtwo. The other five generations have used a pure Grass/Fire/Water triangle and kept it that way.

Bulbasaur will forever annoy me because of the lack of consistency.

But to answer the question, no, I don't think we'll ever receive a dual-typed starter again.

I agree that it's extremely improbable, but I don't think it's out of the question.

That is an interesting question. I think it would be kind of interesting if they did that, but I seriously doubt that they'll do it again. I think that they'd rather save giving a secondary type to the starters for their evolved forms, either fully evolved or once they reach the second stage. With Bulbasaur, making it part Poison felt unnecessary to me when it didn't really give off much of a Poison vibe from its design or from its evolutions. While it gave Bulbasaur a couple of advantages, it was more of a weakness due to being weak to Ground and Psychic type attack, the later being a big problem in the first generation due to how broken Psychic type Pokemon were. They might not want to give another starter extra weaknesses or strengths right off the bat. They might also be more interested in starting off with a pure Grass/Fire/Water triangle so that new players can have an easier time understanding the type advantages and disadvantages.

Same here. If only Bulbasaur was pure Grass and just Ivysaur and Venusaur were Grass/Poison...

Anyway, I think they'll continue with the pure-typed starters if only to ease new players into the type chart. Keep things simple at first and whatnot.

    Yes. Fennekin will be Fire/Fighting.

I would like to see another first-stage dual-typed starter, but it most likely won't happen again.

Why? Simply because this way, they can hype up the new starter pokémon, showing off their basic concepts and generally everything about their basic forms, yet leave players wondering as to how will they evolve.

Bulbasaur got a dual type because as it was a Generation I pokémon, there was nothing to hype, the concept of evolution had to be introduced with the game itself and was more important to hype... yet the concept of dual-types had to be blatantly shown off somehow. To get the introduction of dual types easily done, having a choice of the very first thing a player could get be a dual-type does the job. (And then is immediately exposed clearly by Caterpie and Weedle, which hardly by coincidence are Bugs, in theory but not practice strong against Bulbasaur)
This wasn't just introducing dual-types to the new players, this was introducing the concept of a core gameplay mechanic to the world.

But now that mechanic isn't a pressing issue to explain anymore, there are literally hundreds of examples of dual-typed pokémon. So there is no reason to deviate from the pattern they have developed, while they have a reason to stick to it.

Could they break this pattern somehow? Well, while it could, the starters are pretty much the most carefully designed pokémon, so there really has to be an important reason that exemplifies something of the game for an starter to be dual-typed.

For example, I could see changing how dual-type matchups work altogether or something like that perhaps prompting another dual-typed starter. That'd be a wide enough change in the core gameplay to require an opportunity for immediate introduction.

I really hope so, because I still dream about a Type/Bug starter. I can't picture a Pokémon gaining the Bug-type after evolving, so it has to start as Type/Bug.

I don't think we'll have another dual-type starter again in spite of I would like that there were some more.

Bulbasaur could be purely grass-type and its evolution poison-part, but for any reason in the time it was created, they made it also poison-type and that shouldn't matter in that gen.

Maybe in Gen. VII, they decide to go "RBGY\Retro Style again!" where Gen VII Pokèmon are drawn just like Gen I Pokèmon, and maybe the trainers and\or game interface too. And, since it's supposed to be a "return to the basics", they decide to make one of the 3 starters half-poison type. (or bug, dark, steel, fairy, whatever.)

That is the worst idea I've ever heard. Lest we forget Gen I had some of the worst designs in the franchise, especially in the original RBY versions?

I think it would be neat if all the starters were dual typed in the next generation(s). That way, each would be unique and have their own niche. It would also enforce the type learning that new trainers would have to know.

I actually feel sorry for Bulbasaur for being the only dual-type first stage starter. Must be hard getting picked on all the time because it's not pure Grass or whatever, poor thing..

I really do hope Game Freak creates more dual-type first stages, Bulbasaur needs some friends.

There is hope, and if were lucky, we might see all three starters with dual-types.
