Thread: What region/game had the best over all music? The worst? Why?

Generation 2 was the best to me, Generation 4 was the worst.

G/S/C is pretty good. Once you get to another area zone the music changes and it's not loud and annoying.

The R/B/Y and FR/LG themes are so overused and annyoing. The bike theme is distracting from what I'm doing in the grass and the walking paths all have loud noises. I only liked the S.S. Anne's music.

So you like the battle themes?
Cool, I actually find the town/route themes more enjoyable/memorable.
But I'd have to say most of the battle themes from RSE were great.

I liked "Hugh's battle theme" in V though.

Unova in b2w2 because Roxie's gym (P-O-K-E-M-O-N!), Hugh's theme, and especially Iris' lovely theme. Sinnoh as well was enjoyable.

I'm kind of surprised no one's mentioned the Entralink theme yet, since that is my all-time favorite song in the games. :) I really liked the instrumentation in that song. R/S/E had pretty great music as well.

FR/LG would have to be the worst for me, the music just got annoying after a while.

I haven't got B&W2 yet, so I have to say Sinnoh. I love the music in D,P&P, especially the jazz piece on the island that you can go to after you have beat the game. The Team Galactic music was ace too and I was kind of sad when I beat them because it meant I wouldn't hear their music any more, lol.

Johto had the best, especially HG/SS, hands down.

I've always been quite the admirer of the second generation main games' music. I'm also quite fond of the music of Colosseum. There's something to be said for the pure nostalgic power of the first generation music, but one too many bad OCRemix-hopefuls have slaughtered their way through Pallet Town's tranquil melancholy, Victory Road's heady optimism, Lavender Town's Hammer-ish creep, that they've been a little spoiled for me... :c

There are some standout particular tracks in the other games that I feel I have to mention, though. For one, D/P/Pt's Jubilife City. I don't know why I love it quite so much, but I adore it.

RSE had the best music.

BW has the most forgetable music.

Of course, that's all relative. Pokemon music has always been high quality.

This will mostly be an opinion topic, though if I had to rate from which I enjoyed most: 5 stars rating system.

Generation 5 had some of the best and most upbeat music in the series, not to mention diverse. 5 stars for me.

Generation 3 had some really great music, the trumpets are really nice touch. 4.5 stars

Generation 1 & 2 just for being memorable and having pretty great themes. 4 stars

Generation 4 Had some good music, but overall I honestly didn't get into it as much as the other Gens. Maybe I'm more into upbeat music for this series, but this Gen really lack that sort of... "energy" if that makes sense. 3.5 stars

Oh, and if were counting side games, Pokemon Conquest is a part of Gen 5 so thats automatic win in the music department in my book. The Colosseum series of Gen 3 also had pretty great music, I'd love to have another Colosseum for the music alone honestly. (and the story)

Generation 2 (and its remakes) have the best music by far :) The worst music was generation 4 (Sinnoh).

Definitely Hoenn. So upbeat and joyful, and I adore Emerald so much. SS & HG were ok too, they did a good job remixing the old tunes. Kanto was the worst imo, don't even get me started on Lavender Town getting on my nerves. Sinnoh had great music for it's time, and it played out well with the story line and backgrounds.

I would say Unova, specially in Black2 & White 2, had the best musics. I just love most battle themes and although there are some pretty bad city themes (like Nimbasa and that red-ish city), the others are very good (Specially Humilau <3). The region with my least favorite musics is definitely Kanto. The city/town/route themes were okay, but the battles theme were veeery boring.

To me in terms of music, I classify the regions in this order: Unova, Hoenn, Johto, Sinnoh, Kanto.
