Tie between Flamethrower and Thunder in Gen IV.

Flamethrower in Gen III: Stream of flames. Gen IV: Random red beam that makes both Pokemon shake.
Thunder in Gen III: Thunderbolt and storm animation; flashes of lightning show negative colors. Gen IV: Pixelated yellow object falling from the sky.

Psycho cut in Gen 4 was pretty awesome. The sound effects made it really cool,
But in gen 5, the sound effects didn't seem accurate compared to gen 4.

    Gen I Blizzard.

I don't like Sky Attack. For a move that's called "God Bird" in Japanese, it looks incredibly lame.

Flamethrower in gen 5 for one of the best moves in the game the firestream and sounds are kinda dorky.

Return in gen IV and V. In gen III it kicked ass, then it just got lame.

Also, Magical Leaf in gen III was so pretty... Why did they have to change it?

Surf in generation 3 and over.

Surf in gen 2 was amazing, it was like, flooding the entire screen and everything was underwater. Pretty awesome.

Thunderbolt in Gen V is horrible, it looks and sounds really weak, like it should be a Thundershock.

For how epic the attack looks in the anime, I found Volt Tackle in Gen IV to be incredibly disappointing, especially given the trouble you have to go to to get to use it.

Oh, and all the Beam-O-Deoxyribonucleic Acids from Gen III. Because shooting your DNA into each other's faces is just plain wrong.

Gen 3's bullet seed and flamethrower were pretty disappointing compared to the anime. I haven't seen Gen 4's & 5's bullet seed but I know flamethrower has gotten better in those gens. Also, every water gun animation except gen 5.

I agree with you 100% I remember seeing my Manectric owning his opponents with that bad-ass Return animation in the 3rd gen games. It always puts a smile on my face :]

Surf in Generation II took WAAAAAY too long to finish its animation, and cut out the epic BGM in the process.
Hyper Beam in Generation III didn't even look that "hyper", it just looked like a small strand of DNA.
Rollout from Generation IV on became pretty lame because they just showed a rock rolling at a foe. In Generation III, the Pokemon would lunge back off of the screen at the 5th use. THAT was epic.
Giga Impact in Generation V is just so pathetic.

Hyper Beam in Gen III, which wasn't a beam but a strand of DNA instead.

What the hell have they done to Hyper Beam over the years >:( I mean if you look at Hyper Beam from gen 1 and 2 you see this actual beam of what looks like epic negative energy making an awsome sound.

In Gen 3 it looks like a bunch of ping pong balls spiral in mid air rofl and from gen 4 onwards it looks like your being splattered by berry juice. What's up with that Game Freak!!

Also the move Blizzard is just a white moving background with a freezing animation on the pokemon. I believe that move should have more integrity like Fire Blast or Thunder!

Frenzy Plant has always been a joke animation wise in my opinion and should be a more epic version of Leaf Storm at the least.
