Heal Block could have been made a lot better.

I'll have to second Energy Ball [Gen IV/V] and Gen IV Return, and add Gen IV Solarbeam and HGSS Psychic to the list.
For being a move based on the bond of a trainer and Pokémon, Return sure is lame. It's...a tackle. Wow.

Solarbeam and Psychic are just plain eye rape.

I was hoping Energy Ball would look prettier and more shiny in Gen V, and it turned out to be the same as Gen IV with a more annoying sound effect. The same applies to Shadow Ball but to a lesser extent, because I do like the animation but was expecting a change.

Speaking of annoying sound effects, the likes of Screech and Psycho Cut in Gen IV and Pursuit in Gen V drive me up a wall.

I won't even touch Gens I and II. Massive ear rape.

    Gen IV return.

After its epicness in Gen III as a move steadily increasing in power we saw the multiple tackles of increasing intensity changed to single generic tackle.

    LAME I say.

I agree that beam attacks all looked better in 1st and 2nd Gen, and I also think Shadow Ball looked better in 3rd Gen.

I actually think the 4th Gen Solar Beam is really disapointing. It doesn't even come from the Pokemon. And I agree with everyone else as well that Return looks like crap in 4th Gen. I actually quite liked it in 3rd Gen though.

Spacial Rend in DP. Seriously? Blunt knives in a circle? Platinum's was epic though, with a black hole. C'mon though, we want animations where the Pokémon being hit actually REACTS!
I claimed Phoenix Wright 2001 ~ Pursuit Cornered.

Wing Attack and Steel Wing in the 4th Gen disappoint me. I like how the animations are in the 3rd Gen, as it makes it seem more like launching tornadoes at the foe instead. o-o
Giga Impact didn't live up to my expectations either, and neither did any of Kyurem's signature moves appeal me, as well as Blue Fire and Lightning Strike (I mean come on the weaker powered Cross Fire and Cross Thunder looked WAY better...).

Earthquake (at least in Gen IV; not sure about earlier). For such a powerful and damn useful attack, the screen ends up shaking and flashing for a few seconds. It wouldn't be so bad if they showed something happening to the ground as well (like in PBR) in addition to the shaking.

Wing Attack and Thundershock are really disappointing for me.
I thought the Thundershock animation would be like the Thunder one but I guess not.

Thundershock is extremely weak. So a not so impressive animation is expected (from me at least). If you watch the anime you probably thought thundershock would look a lot cooler. I was the same way when I used to watch pokemon too. I played yellow and was so excited to rip Gary's Eevee a new asshole with Thundershock and I did very little damage to it.

In the anime you can't tell the difference. Thundershock, Thunderbolt and Thunder all look the same.

I have to say, almost half the animations I have seen so far on Battle Revolution, I mean, couldn't they just put some 4th Gen animations over a few moves with some enhanced effects to move like Close Combat, Return, etc.

You know, Close Combat is ONE miserable hit every time in PBR, no fancy effect for quick attack or extremespeed, sucker punch looks the same as faint attack... and the list goes on.
