OK, it's been 8 days since the last post above. Is anybody out there besides me?
Thought I'd bump this since there's actually something to discuss now with the new CoroCoro. I hope there's more to customization that just slight change of skin color and hair color.
I think it's just going to be the minor customizations at first, but we'll be able to change hair styles and colour later in the game. Even if we don't get that, I'm hoping we at least get some sort of badge or outfit we can put on when we defeat the Champion. Maybe we'll be able to actually have a "badge hat". You know, a hat that you can put all of your badges on.
I know I was wondering why there wasn't a darker skin tone, but I think it's safe to assume no matter what your mom will still be white, so all of the skin tones seem reasonable.
Still hoping you can pick each thing (so that you could be, say, pale with black hair)
First off @Rainy Day(let's pretend its Facebook/twitter for a second haha) fan art got up there quick...
I'm really hoping this isn't it. Like three skin tones is not a real customization option. I mean I'm glad they're acknowledging that the whole world isn't white(or Asian depending on how you look at it). But god this can't be it. I hate the boys boots they're stupid and I want them changed to idk... Crock shoes!
But I guess beggars can't be choosers?
I like that we're getting some customization, it dosent seem like much, but Game Freak has answered some fans' wishes for customization in some way.
It's a step in the right direction. I can see future games with even more customization options. (Mii-esque, even)
It's ironic that during the whole thread, the most common opinion was that skin colours would be the customization we wouldn't get for the sake of avoiding racism controversies, when in actuality, skin colours was pretty much the only thing we were given.
Anyways, at least there is some degree of character customization, so it's still a step forward nonetheless.
I am really disappointed that the player customization is very limited to just hair and skin color. There seems to be just three choices each for the two genders. I am hoping that there are a few more options available.
It's one small step in the right direction, I suppose...
Glad to see the trainer customization. Just wish they had more diversity than two whites and a darker-skinned kid. Like, on one end you have the pale, in the middle you have a mix of both, and at the other end you have the darker option (this kinda works for the boy already). Disappointed we don't get a mix of dark hair and light skin with the girl like we do with the boy. Still, I'm super excited!
There may be more to it. Personally I'm okay with the boy as that's how I look for the most part any way. I'm just hoping we can change clothes because.. Yah..
While its good Game Freak allowed for slight customization options, they really should take some pages from Dragon Quest IX/X's (Oh and Fire Emblem Awakening I suppose) book and realize that you CAN have your default characters (esp. for promotional art) while giving players options for their own personalized feel when they take hold of the game.
EDIT: Still, it IS a step in the right direction. Even if it's a baby step.
I wonder if the only available hair colors are the ones showed in CoroCoro? It would be nice to play as a green- or pink-haired protagonist. Also, I would love to change the clothes colors, although I do love the shade of Red of the female protagonist's clothes. Nevertheless, it is awesome to be able to customize my player character.
I'm pretty apathetic toward the whole customization system to be honest, I guess it's nice we can customize our characters but appearances have never been a big deal for me.
