you know what when i initially saw the screenshots released i was one of the people deriding B/W for looking the same as D/P/Pt but looking at them side by side the difference is unreal, just in the grass and the path. I can't even imagine what the specially-designed areas are gonna look like.

Too bad the sprites look so bizzare among the 3D...
For sure. The grass, in particular, looks a heck of a lot better. The difference between Hg/Ss and B/W isn't quite as pronounced, though. And it does appear as if the B/W landscape actually has much more local topographical variation, which should a bit of an "organic" feel to the overworld. The fact that paths in B/W don't seem to be ruler-straight, with perfect 90-degree angles also helps with that.
Hopefully B/W still has a few surprises to throw at is in terms of graphics... the DS can only do so much, but four years of working on that platform can only have helped GameFreak find ways to optimize performance. I just hope it'll be enough for a generation leap.
