For a long time, I believed that Ghost was weak to Psychic because my Butterfree used confusion on Morty's team in GSC and it was all super effective.

I was quite surprised to learn that it was actually Poison that was weak to Psychic, and that the ghosts were part poison

You know what makes those kind of rumors so bad? Even though you know it won't work, you still press the button out of habit. Every time I throw a Poke Ball, I hit the B button. (-_-;)
I thought that Haunter could evolve into Gengar through levelling, but when my friend told me that it could evolve only through trade, it was basically not cool knowing that. Another thing I thought was that Slowbro evolved into Slowking, so when I see that Slowpoke evolved into Slowking, I was surprised.

    Thanks for reading.
I thought the same thing about Slowking myself, as did my husband. To this day, I still have to double check and make sure that it's Slowpoke that needs to hold the King's Rock and not Slowbro.

Back when I played Pokemon Red for the first time, I also bought a guide for the game. It mistakenly said that Charizard was a pure Fire type, and it wasn't until I fought Articuno that I realized that it was in fact a Fire/Flying. Man, was I pissed that my Fire type was getting beaten up by an Ice Pokemon. (Ice was neutral against Fire before Gen II)

Like many others, I also thought holding a button (B in my case) would make a Pokemon get caught. Even though I soon discovered it didn't work, I still hold the button down; it might not help catch the Pokemon, but it helps calm my nerves.

    Who is this git?

I've always thought that if I hold down the D-pad and the B button at the same time, when the Pokeball enters the screen, then I was guaranteed the catch. I figured it didn't work every time because my timing was off. It's become a habit of mine ever since Ruby & Sapphire and it's always humorous to credit my catches to chance when I succeed.

The catching Pokémon button combo myth in the little corner of the world I'm from was holding B + Down. I also used to think Gyarados evolved into Lapras.

Back in the RSE days, I bet my cousin a rare Pokemon of our choice that flying was super effective against ground. We were both so confident in our opinions. I lost...

Goblins and Saurus and Cheetaurs, oh my!

I'm glad I'm not the only one, in Ruby, the first game I played, I went to sky pillar, and I was like: ''OOOOH, what a nice dragon statue OMG WHAT DID IT JUST DO?''

Maybe I'm the only one who never tried the B+v combo.
