Though, I wonder if the whole reason they changed their motto was because the writers didn't want any confusion with Team Galaxy with all the mentions of the world and space.

And they changed to a motto that specifically uses the word "galaxy"? :P

...damn, did they? I'll have to listen to it again. I know the old one did, but I thought this new one didn't.

"An evil as old as the galaxy..."
"Sent here to fulfill our destiny..."

... yeah.

The word ginga is not audible anywhere in the new motto.

This is not the motto we are talking about. This is the BF motto, not the DP motto

There is a new one in DP. It even has totally different music that sucks.

I don't know, but I LOVE it. Especially the longer version, very dramatic and fits.

So wait, are we talking about the English motto or the Japanese one?

As for Team Rocket, it is established that Diamond and Pearl are parallel to Gold and Silver. Team Rocket is well occupied in Johto, and there is no reason for the grunts to seek other affiliations. Besides, if the only indication of a Team Rocket source is one Galaxy grunt who uses a peculiar motto, it has no bearing on the game canon.

The start of D/P is after the Red Gyardos appears at the Lake of Rage. Team Rocket are disbanded shortly after the player encounters it so it might be possible for some of the grunts to be obtained as soon as news reaches Akagi.

It wouldn't be the first time the games reference the Team Rocket of the anime. Other than Jessie and James actually appearing with part of their motto in Yellow, a trainer on Mt. Battle in XD makes a reference to James.
