I love Empelt's Type matchup, but not so much it's looks. I just hope that the big metal Emperor Penguin will grow on me.

Pokemon Black and White. Its Pokemon . . . IN AMERICA!
For some reason the final Hikozaru evo reminds me of Andross (except with a body).
I feel like Poomo tonight.
Definantly sticking with Neatle and maybe for Diamond Pochamma now since it's final evoluiton looks awesome

Is anyone else surprised that we get another Fire/Fighting starter?
I'm sticking with Pochama for now anyway.

What Alex said.
FireMonkey is just plain the weakest link this round. Not because it's a monkey ; there's no stellar winner as far as look goes this gen (there's no Treecko or Charmander, for sure). However, what Naetle and the Birdie have that FireMonkey doesn't, is a new type combo (for starters, and, IIRC at least one and possibly both are brand new to the game), whereas Monkey is a repeat of the Torchic line as far as types are concerned.
I've gone through last game with the whole fire-fighting thing. I'm going to try another combo this round, likely (but not certainly) grass-ground.

I personally like the idea of the water/steel combo, dunno why. I really should get the fire one though, there isn't a fire type that I'm interested in that I can see, while there's one or two steels and a water type to consider ingame. I've always started with fire, restarted as I get my butt handed to me with it, start again as the water, then regret it later. I've never liked the water starters, never. That grass thing may get chosen as it's part ground, again though there are ground types later in the game I'm interested in, and I'm not overaly bothered about having a grass type in my team.
Meh my vote still went to Pochama.. this time I'll probably start with the water, and end up restarting with the fire for once ^_^

Can't decide between Naetle and Pochamma.
Empurito looks awesome!
Grass starter FTW.
Returned, after many years...
I'm going with Naetoru, definitely. A Grass Starter I like a whole heck of a lot at last! Almost as much as Meganium, if not more. =O
Dotaitos wins. I always wanted a Grass/Ground Poké, and it's more than I could ask for. I also like turtles a lot.
Pocchama is second, though. Enpetoru looks pimpin, and again, has an awesome Type Combination I always wanted to have.
To clarify:
Brachiosaur = dinosaur
Dinosaur = warm-blooded
Reptile = cold-blooded
Reptile /=/ dinosaur
Therefore per your own logic, GSC also had two warm-blooded starters, Chikorita and Cyndaquil.
One might also call the anklyosaur-esque Dodaitos a dinosaur, in which case this would be the first generation where all three of the starters are warm-blooded and none of them are reptiles. But distinguishing between animal groups gets a bit dicey with imaginary Pokemon, so I'm not advocating one way or another for Dodaitos, Chikorita, etc..."Just the facts, ma'am."

Anyway, Pochama for me, still. SO. CUTE! Even after seeing that hideous THING that it evolves into. Ah well, it's a bird, I've never trained up the Water-type, and Water/Steel could be a fun combination--so I'm sure I'll warm up to Empelt. Second choice would be Naetle (anklyosaur!), but I also have to say that Hikozaru's final evo looks pretty damn cool as Pokemon go (even though I really rather dislike primates).

Dinosaurs are by definition repitles.
You might as well tell me some sharks aren't fish because they have live births.
I feel like Poomo tonight.
After seeing what Hikozaru evolves into on Serebii, I totally want to start with that!
