So, does anyone know how progress is going? Or even if anyone's planning on doing it this time?

From what I hear, the sprites are encrypted or coded strangely, so it's rather difficult to rip them out.
It might be a long time before we get them.

Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand... - Rush "Witch Hunt"
The guy who ripped the mini-sprites said it was EXTREMELY HARD, and it would take like months to finish.
I guess game freak/nintendo dose not like the fact us fans are useing their hard work on are sites, so they made the Sprits hard to rip... however I have run acrossed a site that has some D/P pokemon Sprits however they may be fan maded however... http://www.pokesho.com/icone7.html

Yeah, Pokesho makes their own stuff. That's pretty common knowledge.
By reading this, you have given me temporary control of your mind.

This site is by the guy who hacked the minisprites, and anyone with knowledge of hacking may be able to help him.
They do that with a number of sites, Bulbagarden included. Though in our case, since I'm Australian, not American, it's not the webmaster they send to those. ^^;;

Which means we may not have sprites till the US version comes out!
Archaic, if you're talking about me, I haven't been sent anything or given any official credentials by Nintendo.
Wait, Nintendo/Game Freak sends Pokemon Elite 2000 sprites?
Get Bent Dr. Phil. Your show is shit.
The Bob & Tom Show rules!
I don't think so.
They don't send sprites to anyone and they have never done it before. What Nintendo gives out are artworks and some captured screenshot. That's what the press gets and also some supported Pokémon fan sites.
That is correct.
However, I have cracked the encryption on 50% of the pixels in a given sprite file. There are some refinements we need to make to recover the encryption key properly for all sprites (currently less than a dozen require a little more work).
Thanks must also be given to Eevee, who first spotted the existence of a pattern in those 50% of pixels, and to pika, who has been answering my many questions.
I do not know if any progress has been made on cracking the other 50% of pixels... in the meantime, here's something to whet your appetite.
Does the game save two seperate spirtes for gender variation, or does it "piece together" the monster on screen by using a main body sprite then adding the differences according to gender value?
Pokemon Black and White. Its Pokemon . . . IN AMERICA!
There are usually, but not always (i.e. single-gender and no-gender Pokémon), four sprite files for each Pokémon - two front views and two back views. Within each file there are two frames for the animation of a particular sprite... usually the case for front views, but back views may only have one frame.
Also... not all gendered Pokémon have differing sprites. For instance, Bulbasaur male and female look the same.
