Sounds nice, I like this theory, but... Reshiram/Zekrom recognized N as the hero and the counterpart recognized a human (the player), so it's implied they're in a way the same. So, there's no way N could be a Pokémon himself.

Besides, there is the fact N used a Zoroark in his final battle in BW1. Actually, I think it's the same Zoroark he used, the one that appears in Victory Road (and inside Old Plasma's house when you use Memory Link).

Also, The Zoroark in Lostlorn Forest in BW1 and BW2 are different. From BW1 is implied Zorua/Zoroark keeps its gender when disguised as a human (the kid-Zorua in Castelia is always male, the woman-Zoroark in Lostlorn Forest is always female). The Backpacker-Zoroark that gives you TM95 is male, so I guess that's a male Zoroark.

Though, I agree there could be a complete.... tribe? herd? of Zorua/Zoroark hidden in Lostlorn Forest.

I dont see why N could be a Pokemon just because he can hear their thoughts, N is special and a complex character, but there's really no evience to support the theory. N is a human.

Obviously not true since they can disguise themselves as male/female Pokemon when you send them out in battle. You can't conclude from their one appearance that they can only shapeshift (given the mythology around kitsune and how the ability is treated in the show, I do believe their ability is a combination of shapeshifting and illusions), simply that they have a gender preference. It's clearly within their power to disguise themselves as members of the opposite sex with Pokemon, even when the gender differences are massive (e.g., Nidoking/Nidoqueen, Jellicent), so why are humans any different?

It's implied that he's touched/poked/held the player's hand/etc. at least once, which would've ruined his disguise, since it's just an illusion. It's pretty obvious he's just a really messed up human dude.

I could advocate the WMG of him being raised by Zoros before he was found by Ghetsis, however.

In the intro of black and white it shows N as a child, plus all the dialogue about his childhood pretty much puts the zoroark theory to bed...

Yeaaaaaahhhh, no. I kind of doubt that Game Freak would attempt something like that when N is already such a complex character in the first place.

Not to mention the lack of proper evidence to support this hypothesis and the fact that this is just another example of fans thinking more into the game's content than the actual creators do. :p

Nice theory but this really doesn't hold up. N likely had a situation akin to Tarzan or N just simply ran away. The Zoroark in N's Castle is likely just the Zoroark N had in his final BW battle, just released. The Zoroark may have grown attached to N which is why it is in his Castle

This is a nice theory when you first see and read it. I thought, "Wow, that's such a cool idea!" but the more you think about it, the more you feel it would spoil his character development so far if he were then revealed to have been a Pokemon all along. Had N just been a side character who the player kept encountering, who then on their last meeting revealed himself to be a Pokemon and you could "catch him" then it would have been good.

But with N's backstory: abandoned in the woods, raised by Pokemon, manipulated by his own father with whom he has the world's most complex relationship with, his only maternal care coming from his two rather "floaty" sisters and his closest companions being abused Pokemon.. All of this depth of character feels just too much to be wasted on a Pokemon now. And like others, I would like to know more about N's possible connection to the Abyssal King more than anything else.

I personally don't want to think of N as any more or any less than N. All these little theories popping up all over the place make me think that you don't want to think of N as just what the franchise gives you, that you want to delve into the idea that N is more than what they say he is, which is likely incorrect unless they want to surprise you.

If they intended for N to be Zoroark they would have given HIM the same hair as Zoroark instead of giving it to Iris

Well, that would explain how we was unfazed by taking that Shadow Ball in the anime- dark resists ghost. No, wait, getting hit by an attack would have broken the illusion...

Personally, I never was for the whole "N equals Zoroark" thing, I've believed it's his signature Pokemon, and has an association with the species, but I've never believed himself as actually BEING a Zoroark, even then, there would have to be some explanation for as why he would own Pokemon and use Pokeballs, a Pokemon owning Pokemon essentially, I just find it weird.

Also, there's a rather big plothole I've found in the Gen 5 games in which why N and Ghetsis have the same hair color if N was apparently adopted by Ghetsis and is not his genetically born son, there's not really too much of a clear explanation about N's backstory in my opinion, it's rather confusing to me as the games tell it somewhat out of order and in pieces, I'm not sure about the manga though as I haven't really read it.

Now, I'm sure Episode N might give us some explanations to N's backstory, possibly give us more clear revelation to his origins, but only time will tell really.

It could be that N and Ghetsis were originally meant to be related, but then Gamefreak decided against it for some reason.

Even the information we receive in-game about N being "abandoned" is questionable at best, as Anthea and Concordia probably heard it from Ghetsis, who is an unreliable source at this point. The only thing we can be sure of is that N remembers being raised by Darmanitan and Zorua in a forest, as shown in the B/W opening sequence. Due to what circumstances, however, is anyone's guess.

I don't think we'll get much more information N's origins anyways, seeing as Gen V is nearly finished. It's a shame, though, since it had a lot of potential. But Gamefreak probably figures the mystery surrounding N adds to his appeal.
