Misty said someone came across one of the Pokemon not found in the dex.

And Pokemon have been advertised that are not in the dex (Elecable). They must be begging people to shark these games.

That's strange. Isn't it pretty much a tradition that any pokemon with new evolutions to return in whicever generation that those evolutions take place?

Or play the game to the point where they obtain the National 'Dex and can import or trade. Come on, it's not exactly rocket science to obtain them.

In short, the "missing" new types appear to be either new 2nd or 3rd stage evolutions (plus whatever the Porygon thing is...) or extras up in the legendary end of the list. Which most likely means Nintendo are reserving a bunch of promotionals for later release just like they always do. It's also QUITE likely that some of those high number ones are available in the game after the national 'dex is obtained - it is fully possible that there are two phases to the story, just like Fire Red/Leaf Green.

Because it wasn't out when you made that list. I don't know if it was base data released by Nintendo or what but how can you get your hands on a game and read its code when its not even out.

Think outside the box.

Outside the box increases the chance of incomplete data.

Though, the national dex opening up new areas is also possible. Still, I'm surprised they'd make even generation exclusive Pokemon would be hidden.

I guess people will just have to use Flying types and Rock types to cover no fire types.
