@Blitzle. do I use time finder?

Yeah, use Timer Finder to find the seed you want to use, then right click it, and click copy full seed to clipboard. Then, go to the other window (the one where you clicked Time Finder) then paste the seed where it says "Seed (Hex):".

Make sure you don't click off Time Finder, though; keep both windows open until you've caught what you want. Well, it's not a necessity, but I find it easier to keep both windows up.

I have a question: Can you RNG on Ruby-Sapphire? If so, how?

I don't see why not, but I've never done it myself. Smogon provides a guide, but it's for Emerald only. I don't know why it's Emerald exclusive. Perhaps it's easier to RNG in Emerald, just likes it's easier to RNG in Platinum than it is in Diamond and Pearl.

    Guide here.

Okay, thanks! I've been thinking about trying RNG stuff, but I wanted to try it out on a older game in case I messed up real bad.

If you're thinking about RNGing, then it'd be a waste to try and learn the RNG mechanics of a game so old. What are you trying to RNG, and on what game? It's ridiculously easy to RNG shiny Pokémon on Platinum (granted, you will need your SID, and you can only find that by using an external device or chaining a few shiny Pokémon). It's also not too bad on Black and White, you just need to wade through the jargon and complicated-looking RNG program (which isn't very complicated at all).

Even if you "mess-up" RNGing, nothing is going to happen to your game. You just won't get the desired results (i.e., Pokémon will not be shiny or it will not have the specified IV spread).

Oh. Okay. I wasn't sure what could happen if something went wrong. Also, I might have been thinking about the risks of cloning Pokemon....

Well, I wanted to start on my copy of Sapphire and hopefully get the Hoenn Pokemon (especially the Legends), and work my way up (Sinnoh, then Unova). I've been thinking of opening a trade shop on here and wanted to see if I could RNG. I was also really wanting a shiny Rayquaza (I already have one, but kind of wanted one with a better nature).

I don't think there's any risk with cloning Pokémon, as long as you do it properly. However, I've never done it myself.

Well, each Generation has a different kind of RNG, and with that, a different set of jargon to learn (although knowing one helps with the next). Because Gen III games are so old, you'll be hard-pressed to find people that can actively help you and answer your questions, and when you first start out RNGing, you're going to have questions. All the Hoenn legends (minus the Regi's) are in Heartgold/Soulsilver.

About the cloning, I read somewhere that if you don't do it right, it could delete your saved game. I've never cloned for that reason.

Now back on the main subject, it would be nice to get the regis as well, but I guess I could make do without them. Maybe I will just try it on a newer game.

But, maybe I should just leave RNG to the pros.... I'll have to think about it.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I can't comment on the article you read, since I don't know myself.

No problem And if you decide to start RNGing, we're here to help you out. RNGing is not for the pros, it's for any Pokéfan that wants a little more out of their game. It's really not hard; it just comes off as something foreign. Once you get accustomed to the foreignness of it all, you'll be fine. But you'll need patience; lots and lots of patience, haha. RNGing is a source of much rage quitting.

@Blitzle. You mentioned a synch, I see the option for it but what does it do?

Okay, I have a frame (59) my starting frame (49). I start the DS at the time that it said on Time Finder and used chatot with a custom chatter to boost the frame 10 times. Yet, I got a durant. What do you think im doing wronG?

Plenty of people RNG on Emerald. Mainly because there are some move tutor moves on there that aren't on the latest games (Seismic Toss, Softboiled, etc...) I think there's a few exploitable glitches on it, too.

A synch is when you have a pokemon with the nature synchronize in the first slot of your party. Whatever the nature of the pokemon with synchronize is (e.g. a Timid Munna), some frames of the seed will change to match that nature. It just makes the nature you want appear more often. If you look at the list of natures, all the ones that are emboldened work with a synch. So if the nature says Hardy with no synch selected that just means it will be Hardy. but if you have a Timid synch in first place, change the synch nature to Timid, and Hardy should change to Timid (once you click generate).

You can miss your seed due to the Timer0 or you could have hit the time wrong. You just have to keep trying; when you first start it takes a while to get it right. Remember to hit your time one second before it says, so if Time Finder says 1:30:28 make sure you hit 1:30:27.

Unlike HGSS RNG, there's no way to verify you hit your seed without doing all the advances, so you'll just need to keep trying to hit the time, get in game, view your Chatot's page 10 times with a custom Chatter then Sweet Scent. If you're in an area with moving NPCs then they could be a problem, but if you're in Twist Mountain, I'm fairly certain there are no NPCs there.

Keep trying and let me know how you get on!

Record it before. The cry will stay aslong as you don't put the Chatot in the PC. I usually record the Chatter then save my game/turn off and start the process.

Aslong as you have a recorded chatter and you visit the summary page (it doesn't matter if it's just for a split second) then it will advance the PID frame.

It could be your timer0 or you could be missing your seconds. Are you hitting the time one second before RNG Reporter says for you?
