Its not showing you catching the pokemon, its showing you attempting to catch the pokemon. They could do that with any Pokemon, chose to do so with a very dubious shadow, and thus its acceptable to assume anything from a new Pokemon/forme, to a very warped perspective of it. But good lord does it have to be warped.

I sure was funner back then, possibly even stupider....
I think it's Articuno.
3D models can be slightly different from 2D drawings. Also, perspective can change a lot of stuff.

That Articuno looks particularly uncomfortable, as if it were being hung. Poor thing.
nice rendering. that's what i needed someone to do. still not sure if i can accept it as articuno, or anything else we know of, since it still has non-articunoy features, and i'm not SURE i buy that shape being a tail... that one point doesn't really come out from the right spot... but job well done. i like it. it makes me understand better.

Fat foot Articuno? It needs a new forme.

Now it looks like Staraptor with a huge mohawk.

I too think its Articuno. The thighs(?) look similar.

Generic silhouette isn't gonna happen for a game where the designs come by the dozen, and it could be anything.

Right....
Cos thats the norm, just showing a pokemon that isn't actually a pokemon, just a mixture of all the birds in a silhouette?
FWIW I cannot put my finger on what this is. Spent today looking over it and nothing actually fits in. The two possible outcomes for me is an already known Pokemon with a slightly different looking 3d model, or a new pokemon/forme.
The hand/lumps on the wings still don't match up, and the legs are too fat. It could be articuno, or maybe archeops, idk. I still think it looks much more like Archeops.
