    • Full 3D graphics both overworld and battles.

    • Character customisation of skin-tone, hair and clothing.
    • You can change your clothes, hair, hat, shoes and accessories at various salons and boutiques throughout the region.
    • Your character customisation will be reflected on your PSS icon for all your friends to see.

    • Linked to character customisation is PR Videos. Which are 10-second films that feature you and your Pokémon, and allow you to choose your expressions, poses, background music, camera angles, and more to create a unique video.

    • For the first time the regional Pokedex is split into three sections: Coastal Kalos, Central Kalos and Mountain Kalos.

    • Diagonal 8-way movement is available for the first time in the main series.

    • Can ride Pokemon in certain places. You can ride Gogoat in Lumiose City, a Rhyhorn on a rocky path and a Skiddo in a farm-area. Riding Pokemon can help to traverse aswell as open paths.
    • It seems each ride offers different utility, with Rhyhorn being able to smash rocks and Skiddo being able to jump up ledges.

    • Pokémon-Amie introduces a new way of interacting with your Pokémon, letting you pet and play with them. Not only does this boost their friendliness, it may also boost how well they do in battle too. It can increase critical hit rate and the ability to dodge attacks.

    • Super Training is an easier way to see and train your Pokemon's EVs. It has a few different training styles. There's Super Training Regimens which is a mini-game in where your Pokemon train themselves. Core Training is a more casual way that involves using training bags and training bags are earned through Super Training Regimens. There is also an Effort-o-Meter that allows the EV visibility, showing how much your stats have increased from each species base stats.

    • New battle types: Sky Battles which only Flying and Levitating Pokemon can take part in and Horde Battles, which is one of your Pokemon versus five wild Pokemon.

    • Player Search System (PSS) is on the lower screen along with Pokemon-Amie and Super Training. The PSS is the place of many new features listed below:
    • Use the Holo Caster to get messages from people far away.
    • Using StreetPass on your Holo Caster you can get reports about the people you have passed by. Plus, receive news bulletins, such as information on upcoming competitions!
    • With Battle Spot, you can compete in casual Free Battles or take on tougher Rating Battles.
    • For the first time since its inception in Gen IV, you can now receive or look for a Pokémon that is not yet registered in your Pokedex via Updates to Global Trade Station.
    • Wonder Trade is where you pick a Pokémon to offer and it will be instantly traded for another Pokémon offered by someone else.
    • O-Powers are special powers. Some powers may temporarily increase your stats, make it easier to catch wild Pokémon, may increase the Exp. Points or prize money you get from battle. You can also offer them to other Trainers around you so they can benefit from them.
    • The Shout-Out function lets you share your feelings and accomplishments with other players. Your Shout-Out will be displayed to other players who are nearby or connected to the Internet.

    • You can now select a language at the beginning of your adventure, regardless of the region you bought the game in. There are seven languages to choose from.

    • Roller skates are a new method of movement.

    • Photo Spots! Take beautiful photos of these fantastic views. And just like a real camera, you'll be able to adjust the aperture, shutter speed, brightness, and other features to dial in the perfect shot!

    • For the first time since Gold and Silver, XY will introduce a new Pokemon type: the Fairy type.
    • Sylveon, Flabébé, Xerneas, Spritzee, Swirlix, Dedenne and Mega Mawile are the only "new" Fairy-types confirmed so far.
    • But Jigglypuff, Marill, Gardevoir and Mawile are also now part Fairy type in addition to their original types.
    • Fairy has seven new moves shown so far: Moonblast, Fairy Wind, Draining Kiss, Geomancy, Baby-Doll Eyes, Frolic and an unnamed move.
    • Charm has been retyped to a Fairy move.
    • Fairy is super effective against Dragon, Fighting and Dark types. Fairy is resisted by Poison, Steel and Fire types. Fairy is weak to Poison and Steel. Fairy resists Dark, Fighting and Bug, aswell as being immune to Dragon.
    • The Fairy type was introduced to balance Dragon types without making Dragons weaker.

    • Mega Evolution is a new battle feature introduced in XY.
    • Mega Pokemon seem to be "super-charged" versions of the Pokemon they transform from: Their look, stats, ability and sometimes type alter between the transformation.
    • Not all Pokemon are going to receive a Mega Evolution. The currently known are: Mega Mewtwo, Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, Mega Mawile, Mega Ampharos, Mega Absol, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard and Mega Blastoise.
    • Mega Evolutions are only temporary and happen only during battle. After battle the Pokemon reverts. You can only have one per team. You can Mega Evolve and attack in the same turn. The change happens before you attack.
    • Mega Evolutions also require a specific Mega Stone for each Pokemon to evolve aswell as specific conditions to be met (the latter of which have yet to be detailed). For example, Mega Blaziken needs the Mega Stone Blazikenite and Mega Lucario needs Lucarionite. They also require an item called the Mega Ring, which the trainer wears, and that resonates with a Mega Stone that is being held by a Pokemon.
    • Blazikenite, Blaziken's Mega Stone, cannot be found in normal gameplay, as such, Torchic will be given away through Wi-Fi starting October 12th holding the Blazikenite, so players can unlock Mega Blaziken in the game.

    • Pokemon Bank is an application and service for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that will allow you to deposit, store, and manage your Pokémon in private boxes on the internet. There will be annual fee for using Pokemon bank, but first there will be be a free trial that will end January 2014.
    • Pokemon Bank will allow the storage of up to 3000 Pokemon, which equates to 100 boxes of storage.
    • Pokemon Bank will allow for the trading of Pokemon between a player with only one gaming system (unlike previous generations which required two). You can simply upload your Pokemon to the Bank and then download it to your other game from there. This works with both, and between, cartridge and download copies of X and Y.
    • When you download Pokémon Bank, you can also download the linked application Poké Transporter! When you insert a Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, or White 2 into a 3DS, you'll be able to use Poké Transporter to transfer Pokémon from these games into their own online Boxes. Then, you can easily transfer those Pokémon into Pokémon X and Pokémon Y using Pokémon Bank!
    • Hacked Pokemon will not be allowed through the Poke Transporter application or allowed to be put in the boxes of the Pokemon Bank.

    • Along with the changes to the type chart brought by the Fairy type, there have been a few Other changes to the type chart and its mechanics.
    • Steel no longer resists Dark and Ghost.
    • Grass Pokemon are immune to powder and spore moves.
    • Ghost Pokemon are immune to the effects of moves that prevent fleeing.
    • Electric types can no longer be afflicted with paralysis.

    Mega Evolution:

    • Mega Evolution is a new battle feature introduced in XY.
    • Mega Pokemon seem to be "super-charged" versions of the Pokemon they transform from: Their look, stats, ability and sometimes type alter between the transformation.
    • Not all Pokemon are going to receive a Mega Evolution. The currently known are: Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, Mega Mawile, Mega Ampharos, Mega Absol, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blastoise and Mega Garchomp.

    • Mega Mewtwo X (left) is one Mega Evolution of Mewtwo. It requires the Mega Stone Mewtwonite X and is exclusive to Pokemon X. A larger Pokémon than Mega Mewtwo Y, with muscles bulging from its arms and legs, it gains the Fighting type and becomes a Psychic/Fighting type with the ability Steadfast. Its Attack stat shows formidable growth. It is taller than regular Mewtwo at 7'07" and now weighs 280 lbs.
    • Mega Mewtwo Y (right) is another Mega Evolution of Mewtwo. It requires the Mega Stone Mewtwonite Y and is exclusive to Pokemon Y. Its streamlined body always appears to be floating the air. It retains Mewtwo's Psychic-typing, but has the different ability of Insomnia and is said to have a focus on Sp.Atk. Mega Mewtwo is quite a bit smaller and lighter than regular Mewtwo aswell.

    • Mega Ampharos is the Mega Evolution of Ampharos. When Ampharos Mega Evolves into Mega Ampharos, its head and tail are covered with white fur in this new, gallant appearance. When Mega Ampharos increases the amount of electrical energy within itself, the red orbs on its body and fur emit a strong light. When it undergoes Mega Evolution Ampharos' type becomes Electric/Dragon and it gains the ability Mold Breaker. It seems to be able to learn Dragon moves which Ampharos previously couldn't, such as Dragon Pulse.
    • Mega Garchomp is the Mega Evolution of Garchomp. When Garchomp becomes Mega Garchomp, the increased energy flows into the Pokémon's arms, turning them into huge blades! It retains Garchomp's Dragon/Ground type but has the different ability of Sand Force. Its Atk and Sp.Atk stats have increased, but its Speed stat has decreased.

    • Mega Blaziken is the Mega Evolution of Blaziken. It retains Blaziken's Fire/Fighting type and also the ability of Speed Boost. It is said to have increased Attack. It requires the Mega Stone Blazikenite to be able to Mega Evolve; Blazikenite is not available through normal gameplay and, as such, Torchic is going to be given out over Wi-Fi holding the Blazikenite starting October 12th.
    • Mega Lucario is the Mega Evolution of Lucario. Black patterns creep up and around Mega Lucario's arms and leg--marks left behind by the heightened aura energy that thrums throughout its body. It retains the Fighting/Steel type of regular Lucario but now it has the different ability of Adaptability. It is said to have increased Attack. It requires the Mega Stone Lucarionite to be able to Mega Evolve. Mega Lucario is slightly taller than regular Lucario.

    • Mega Absol is the Mega Evolution of Absol. The increased energy that courses through Absol's body upon Mega Evolving makes its fur stand on end, giving it the appearance of wings. It keeps the same pure Dark typing as Absol, but now has the ability Magic Bounce. It has greater Attack and Speed.
    • Mega Mawile is the Mega Evolution of Mawile. When Mawile undergoes Mega Evolution, its trademark huge mouth has multiplied, and now there are two great maws to contend with! It even seems that Mega Mawile can control each maw independently. Like Mawile, it is a Steel/Fairy type, but it now has the ability Huge Power. Both its Def and Sp.Def increase. Mega Mawile is larger than Mawile in both height and weight too.

    • Mega Charizard X is one Mega Evolution of Charizard. It requires the Mega Stone Charizardite X and is exclusive to Pokemon X. With this transformation, Mega Charizard X's body turns black and its flames burn blue with increased heat. It is now a Fire/Dragon type with the new ability Tough Claws. Its Attack stat is increased. It is slight heavier than Charizard.
    • Mega Charizard Y is another Mega Evolution of Charizard. It requires the Mega Stone Charizardite Y and is exclusive to Pokemon Y. When Charizard becomes Mega Charizard Y, its pointed horns and long tail give the Pokémon a look of sleek sharpness and its wings become larger than ever. Mega Charizard is in a league of its own when it comes to flying prowess, able to reach incredible heights. It retains Charizard's Fire/Flying type, but now has the ability Drought and increased Sp.Atk. It is also heavier than Charizard too.

    • Mega Venusaur is the Mega Evolution of Venusaur. When Venusaur becomes Mega Venusaur, the flower on the Pokémon's back blooms even more fantastically than before. Its legs and frame become more sturdy to support the weight of the huge flower. It retains Venusaur's Grass/Posion typing, but it gains the ability Thick Fat, increased Defence and Sp.Defence and also grows taller and weighs more.
    • Mega Blastoise is the Mega Evolution of Blastoise. The two rocket launchers on Blastoise's shoulders turn into a single huge cannon when it Mega Evolves into Mega Blastoise. This cannon boasts a blast range so great that it can strike targets more than six miles away! It retains Blastoise's pure Water typing, but it now has an all-new ability called Mega Launcher that increases the power of Pulse moves such as Water Pulse. Like Charizard and Mega Charizard, Mega Blastoise is also heavier than Blastoise.

    • Mega Kangaskhan is the Mega Evolution of Kangaskhan. After Mega Evolving, it gains the new ability Parental Bond. Whether its type changes is currently unknown.
