I'd say yes. The graphics in gen. 5 seem a little gimmicky. AnyWays, I'd love to see a more advanced plot. The generation 3 graphics wern't even that bad. So yes, give me morebasic graphics for a more complex plot.

I would love to see a Pokemon game with a deep plot, the graphics will be fairly good no matter what simply because in this day and age we have advanced in that area enough that there isn't an excuse for bad visuals.
With everything that can be done in the games from IV breeding to EV training to RNG'ing, it is sad that the stories are all only skin deep. I'm really hoping the Black/White storyline is as good as it sounds like it could be.

I've never liked the graphics from Gen. 4 onwards. Never was a fan of the "3D" looking thing.
I'd prefer the graphics from FR/LG with a larger game.
I don't want more plot per se but more challenges to the game.
Stuff like a larger range of wild pokemon, more gyms or milestone battles, more than just a single rival and maybe decent mini games.
Plot is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over graphics in my book, Graphics do give a game a plus, but its the plot that defines it IMO

Yes I would sacrifice graphics for a better plot any day. I play for the story, for escapism, the in-depth qualify of graphics doesn't really bug me, as long as I can clearly see what's what, that's fine. I wouldn't be Ok with it if they reverted to say Gen 1 Graphics, and Gen 2 Graphics while Sprites looked good (still my favourite style to this day) the over world graphics were terrible. I'd settle for Emerald Graphics though, they were fine, and I can still play Emerald without it feeling outdated. So if they went back to those graphics, I'd be fine, as long as the plot was really awesome.
I wanna say yes, but then it would be more quantity over quality.

No, i prefer more up-to-date graphics. Pokemon isn't supposed to have deep storyline anyway; the target age wouldn't appreciate it~
I loved HG SS graphics. I'd rather have a better plot though. Graphics aren't everything.
I think I'd rather keep the current course until a device with a lot more memory comes out (3DS, maybe?). As long as they don't go with fully 3D graphics (please don't, Game Freak), as opposed to just having 3D backgrounds, they will have a lot more space, and they will be able to keep the updated graphics. It's a win-win, if you ask me. I agree that story is more important than graphics, but I think the games are already doing a good job at this and it would be a step backward to go back to gen 3 graphics. And what's wrong with the gen 5 graphics, guys? They're really, really good, far better than gen 3's graphics. I mean, they have really good looking animated sprites for battles, more detailed overworld sprites, changing camera angles, etc. I really think that they should add more story and keep improving the graphics by utilizing a more powerful device with more memory.
Also, they couldn't add too much more story. Otherwise the games would take forever to be played.
"Isn't supposed to"? Why does that mean it shouldn't? And why wouldn't the target age appreciate it? They might not be able to fully appreciate it, sure, but even little kids know good storytelling when they see it.
And anyway, this is hypothetical. Why exactly would any of us care what the target age wants?
Plot > Graphics. Always.
This would be why you still have more people ranting about Final Fantasy 7 than any of the modern ones, despite the popeye overworld sprites.
Though, as people have already pointed out, there's really no need to compromise one in favour of the other; it doesn't affect processing power at all since it's only loaded in sections anyway, and isn't the DS Card storage capacity something like double what HG/SS used?
Graphics
Extra memory means nothing when the developers don't have time to use it.
Case in point:
I do want the story to be restructured, but after 5 generations of the same basic plot I'm not getting my hopes up. It clearly doesn't matter much if I'm still playing it anyway.
Tentative pokemon Black team:
1.Oshawott; 2. Blitzel.; 3. Zorua; 4. Victini; 5. Deino; 6. Reshiram
I always love a good plot. It keeps me engaged, rather than to try to plow through the game (I don't breeze through the games, I take my time to enjoy the story).
Also, I did like generation III graphics. It was a lot faster (surfing, for example), and it had nice little characters, rather than the big heads that gen. IV and V have (don't get me wrong, I like the graphics in gen. IV and V, I just prefer smaller character proportions).
This. This is exactly what I was thinking. I think HG/SS used only like 12 of a game card's memory. I'm sure B/W puches it a little. There probably not as much room, but what happens when we get a system with a lot more memory? We can have graphics and plot. We wouldn't have to scrifice either of them. It would be a win-win.
I don't always resist, but when I do, it's with The Resistance. Stay resistant, my friends.
