    Default Plot VS Graphics

This is a random thought that came to my mind.

Let's say that future Pokémon games (Main Series) get rid of the 3-D graphics and everything that makes the game look good and reverted to the graphics of the third Generation. They then used the space they have to have more plot, cities, characters, Pokémon, features... etc., would you like it? Are you willing to sacrifice the graphics for the sake of a deeper plot?

I don't know about the plot in Generation V, so if you want to discuss it could you please have a warning or put it in spoiler tags.

Yep. If anything, I'd welcome the return of the Gen III graphics. More plot and more soulful visuals? Yes please.

I actually kinda like Gen III's graphics. If I got more in depth stuff, sure!

Gen III was the shit when it came to graphics. Smooth, no slowdown, and awesome gameplay. As long as they don't make it excessively linear like gen V, however, that would be good.

I loved gen III`s graphics and a bigger and better plot would be great!

Also I dont judge games by graphics unless they look very, very, very, very bad.

I would be willing sacrifice a lot for a story beyond the cookie-cutter we've had for years although the darker tone of Platinum was a nice touch. And while the graphics of the DS are nice, I too must jump on the Gen III bandwagon.

Oh wow. Nice to see many people agreeing with me. The graphics from Generation III really weren't bad, and having them back for the sake of the plot would be good. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so. :)

Generation III graphics were awesome, but considering that the next few titles are either:

    -BW Deluxe
    -RS remakes
    -6th Gen (3DS)

There's really no need. The first two already have a plot lined up, and the last one is most likely going to be fully 3D, so I doubt the story will suffer in any way, shape, or form.

However, if we include spinoffs, Mystery Dungeon 2 are arguably the best in the entire franchise when it comes to story. Great characters, compelling plot, and little to no Nintendo Logic (besides the fact that a Slugma can throw things). I WILL say this: Bidoof's Wish was a CHORE to get through!

Seriously, over what we have now? (I say this as someone who's playing through pokemon emerald right now).

But yeah, I would still sacrifice the graphics almost entirely for the sake of a kickass plot.

    Plot >>>>>>> Graphics

What good is a fancy looking game if it's boring? You still need to be able to see things though.

This is what I was gonna say. A game can have shit graphics but if the plot is interesting and it keeps me interested in the game then I'll still play it. There is a limit to how bad the graphics have to be though. If they hurt my eyes then yeah, I'd say that the graphics are more important but overall for me Plot > Graphics.

    Look Forward, Team Rocket!

Also I claim Piplup in the Claim a Pokemon thread =)

    No doubt about it.

As far as I'm concerned, they can stop popping out new pokémon for a while and use the ones we have already to make a game that's a lot longer, richer in story which isn't just another rehash, with more options (not only as in choices, like the oft-heard of "I wanna join the evil team"; also things that you can just choose not to do). Not only more cities and towns, but also bigger ones, and longer routes, and smaller towns here and there around the routes. More than eight gyms, so you can choose which eight to beat, or if you want to go ahead and beat them all anyway.

I firmly believe these changes, drastic as they may be, and... well, for some of them, implausible as they may be, would make for a much more fulfilling gaming experience, and seriously jack up the replay value.

Sorry for kinda going off on a tangent there. But, in a nutshell, yeah, I'm all for it.

At this point, I don't think we need to kill one to have the other: the carts have more than enough space to hold everything.

The graphics last throughout your entire playthrough with a game--the plot only matters until you finish the game. I'll stick with graphics; not that the 3rd Generation graphics were bad, but I greatly prefer the 4th/5th Generation 3D graphics and animation, even if the framerate is pretty bad.
