Thread: Nickname themes

I don't think I used nicknames prior to Gen IV.

In Diamond I used typical appearance/type-relevant names like "Flame", "Cloud", "Flora" and "Ocean". In Platinum I used Japanese and Korean singers (real, stage & nick) names like "Tomo", "Ryosuke", "Taeyang" and "Bom". In SoulSilver I'm being lazy and just using Diamond's technique again except with Japanese words instead of English. No doubt Black will be a mix of the last two.

So nothing unique, but it keeps me happy.

I just think of a nickname that will fit for a certain pokemon.

E.G Charcoal the Charmander.

I always nickname my Pokemon and I usually have a theme: they almost always have Transformers nicknames.

Examples: Bumblebee the (shiny) Electivire
Bruticus the Bulbasaur
FireConvoy the Cyndaquil
Convoy the Chimchar
VectorPrym(Prime) the Palkia
Skyfire the Moltres... I think you get the idea.

Let's see...My gen IV Competitvie teams all had Greek god names,
My PASBL pokemon (on Serebii) are named after months,
Not sure what to do with my Gen V Comp. teams, Maybe Roman gods (But then everyone will think it's planets..)

Next time i do a nuzlocke run, i'm planning on naming all my mons after military ranks.

Well... It all started from naming my Tepig "Pork Chops", and my Pansage I got, I named it "Broccoli" then eventually I caught a Sandile and named it "Sandwich". and that's the theme(unintentionally). Oh yeah, after that, I named my Victini "V"(The name of a popular energy drink where I live).

I often name my Pokemon with a Warcraft theme. Either names of the characters themselves or names of the species.

My Pokémon nicknames are always one of three kinds:
A: Nicknames that play of a Pokémon's name/type (eg. Sue the Sandshrew, Catie the Caterpie)
B: "Normal" nicknames that have no relevance to anything at all (eg. Belinda the Torkoal, King the Bellossom, Prince the Oshawott)
C: Hated Pokémon get hated nicknames (eg. Scum the Magikarp)
