With the introduction of Horde Battles, I can finally be attacked by five Zubat while exploring caves!
Come to think of it, I think the reason for Sky battles being optional (unlike other Trainer battles) is because when you agree to the challenge, then the game evaluates whether you're eligible to compete in one. It's easier to do that during a dialogue event script than having to constantly keep tabs on it when you change your team roster and enable/disable the Sky Trainers' event triggers accordingly.
Horde battle sound interesting:
-"Hope those Houndour don't know Beat Up."
-"Hope those Graveler don't know Selfdestruct."
-"Hope those Parasects dont' know Spore, or have Effect Spore."
-"Oh wow, five Audino! I'm gonna gain so much Exp.!"
-Team Bad People attack! Five grunts at once!
-Nuzlocke run; last Fletchling versus five Helioptile!
If Sky Battles are available, I can't wait to see underwater battles with pokemons swimming in the water, pretty much restricted to only Water-types, or certain pokemons that doesn't have a problem being underwater.
It would be awkward sending out a Charmander with its flame on its tail burning despite swimming underwater
These new implementations seem great! Sky Battles are sure to keep things fresh and interesting, and I can't wait for the challenge of Horde Battles. These should make the newest games even more difficult - which is why I love Pokémon, of course. Every new generation shakes things up.
Looks like Horde Battles are appropriate for Throh, whose Dex states that it travels in packs of five, and also shown on this card:

I just don't get the 1vs5 situationthat much either, mkae it 5 vs5 or 6vs6 then or give us the option.
I guess its basicly a gauntlet thing with just one pokemon, I like it but its odd, hopefully we get more triple battles now also, in wild since we get doubles in the wild also.
If you want 5-on-5 or 6-on-6 battles, go play Pokemon Conquest.

I'm assuming with Flying Battles the attacks like 'Fly' (probably just Fly on its' own) won't be usable (considering flying higher, whilst already flying high won't make sense) will be unusable. Which, I guess, adds a little bit of element to flying battles?
