Thread: Move Inconsistencies

List here:
-moves that certain Pokemon don't have and why you think they can't learn them or should learn them
-certain strange moves that some Pokemon have and why do you think they can learn them
-other move inconsistencies that don't fit into the above two categories

Zapdos not having Zap cannon (yes, I know their names aren't similar in Japanese)? Haha.

Lucario and Enbuoh NOT learning Fire Punch. D8 I agree with the article, it is unusual. Especially Lucario, who can Blaze Kick, but not Fire Punch!

I dunno if this counts, but did anyone honestly find it odd that Blast burn, a fire-type, damaging move can't burn shit even when it's got the damn word in its name? Sure, it'd make a bit of an unbalance as none of the other Hyperbeams have additional effects (sans the recharging), but that was damn ironic.

The fact that small Pokemon or Pokemon with no wings can fly yet every Bug/Flying type can't.

That Levitating/Flying Pokemon do so while digging.

Lucario learning Bone Rush is confusing to me in several ways.

In the first three gens, I wouldn't have thought any other 'mon than Cubone could learn the three "bone" moves (Bone Club, Bone Rush, Bonemerang) since they required actually using a bone to attack. Then gen 4 comes along and Lucario mysteriously has Bone Rush as part of its learnset (no longer making it a signature move of Cubone's). Thanks to the anime, I know how this works (Lucario just creates an energy bone out of Aura and uses it like a staff), but it just raises so many questions. I mean, it's a ground-type move for one thing; Lucario can't even get STAB from it. And If Lucario can create bones out of energy, why can't it also learn the other two "bone" moves? And for that matter, why just bones? Couldn't a Lucario reasonably create anything with Aura? Like swords or something? Going by this logic, it should be able to learn any move that requires a weapon or any kind of special appendage like Slash or Guillotine or X-Scissor. It's just weird how Gamefreak would bend the rules so much to give Lucario this one particular move.

Entei can't normally learn Howl. IT'S A FRIGGIN LION FOR THE SAKE OF WHATEVER SUPERNATURAL THING YOU DO OR DO NOT BELIEVE IN!!!

TMs that are only learnable through breeding; e.g, Ralts and Will-o-Wisp.

The porygon evolutionary family can learn tri attack, which uses both ice beam, thunderbolt and flamethrower at the same time, it can learn ice beam, blizzard, thunderbolt and thunder through TMs but it can't learn flamethrower or fire blast through TMs.

Same could be said for Dugtrio, Dodrio, Magneton etc.

Beside, nothing says Tri-Attack uses Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt specifically.

WHY DOESN'T AMPHAROS GET TAIL GLOW??!!??!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Persian can't use Pay Day anymore. That's annoying (I like Meowth for that)

Perhaps Horsea & family should learn Octazooka by level-up (they can now through breeding)

Also, give Torkoal Haze. That's sorta like Smog, isn't it? (I mean in appearance, not attack)
(Actually, don't do that. It'd only hinder Torkoal's Curse and Iron Defense)

Also, that Ponyta can learn Horn Drill (by breeding) despite lacking a horn, yet Rapidash (which has one) can't learn it on its own at all.
