I've always wanted to do a Poison monotype on a file, because Poison's my favourite type. I plan to do that someday soon, though I currently have no idea what game to try it on.

I tried it with Sapphire, and I chose Water.

Needless to say, it was fun and easy, with a variety of choices. My team was made of: Swampert, Tentacruel, Pelipper, Walrein, Wailord, and Kyogre.

I did a monotype playthrough on Ruby once, I went with water as its my favourite type.

My team was; Swampert, Pelipper, Gyarados, Milotic, Walrein and Lanturn.

It worked ok but I havn't tried it again since as I prefer to have a variety of different types.

I think I did a Fire monotype on SoulSilver? I can't recall my team, if I really did.

Well, I am considering doing a Dragon monotype on White. I am curious as to what sort of effect using an all-Dragon team has on the difficulty: though the Dragon type is statistically the strongest, a pokémon of that type takes forever to train and may not gain strength quickly enough.

I'm currently doing a monotype normal run in Black 2. (Or maybe it's White 2. I have both so I get confused)
It's probably fairly easy compared to other types because Normals types only have one weakness and can learn a wide array of different attack types. (Porygon-Z traded from Platinum being my main battler with his good special attack and attack type coverage)

I did Platinum with Flying-types. It was EXTREMELY challenging late in the game. I had Staraptor, Gliscor, Drifblim, Tropius, and Mantine.
