- Negotiations trading. No need to shuffle your party members in and out of the PC first, you can just pick them straight from the box! And it works the same online as it does locally!
- Lack of functional communication during Negotiations trading. I realize not everyone wants live voice chat in a kid's game (1 - language barriers; 2 - potty mouths), but the four emoticons we have aren't enough. I did pick up on some of the things like if the other player shows you the same kind of Pokemon you just showed them this usually means "already have one, thanks", but there's no way to ask "Do you have a ____ ?", either by Pokemon type or species, and that made it a royal pain trying to acquire a Vullaby or Mandibuzz for my White 1. It would have been major props if we could communicate type icons or Pokemon menu sprites, or if we could use predefined messages like the one we put on our Trainer card.

Another Like: Dating options. The Lost Item sidequest that lets you 'date' either Yancy or Curtis. It was really cute - and they even blush on the Xtranceiver screen when you've talked to them for a long time.
@Stratelier; I read somewhere that someone used his collection of Unowns to spell things during GTS negotiations. XDD We seriously need something to aid us with trades, or we'll have to resort to that...
Well, Gen 5 was overall my third favorite, next to Gen 3 and Gen 4, so I'll narrow down what I like and didn't:
-Rivals (N still can't beat Silver, though. <333)
-Ghestis (Brilliant idea for a character. In my opinion, I think GF drew inspiration from Lucius Malfoy for him. Don't ask why. xD.)
-Elite Four/Champions/Gym Leaders
-Reusable Tm's/Not having to go to your bag to use a repel everytime
-Abyssal Ruins (Love the prizes. <3)
-The region itself. (The towns were awesome, cities were fabulous, it was just nice.)
I think that's it for likes...
-Team Plasma. (I'm sorry, but they had to be the lamest team ever. Ghestis and N really only were the good part of Team Plasma. They improved in BW2 though.)
-C-Gear/Dream World. (I'm sorry, but the Dream World was fun the first time around, but now it's boring. Not enough to do there, and is the 24-hour wait REALLY necessary?!)
-Pokemon. (Half of the Pokemon stunk and were unoriginal. I only like a few select Pokemon for Gen 5.)
-GTS. (It's obvious why here.)
-Musicals. (Contests are way better. Musicals were too boring.)
-Rivals/Gym Leaders/Etc only having a few Pokemon. (Takes the challenge out of it!)
...I think that's it for now. But I'll probably come back to this thread to mention something I forgot. xD.
Thanks for reading. ;D Great topic for a thread!
3DS Friend Code is: 5215-0992-6785 Friend Safari is Combee, Beautifly, and Venomoth. Used to be Dark Type Princess~, now Jenneta and going to keep it that way. :)
I love the Join Avenue. I wish they bring something similar to X&Y but make it bigger. More levels, more shops and more unique features.

One relatively minor thing that Gen V introduced that I absolutely loved was the change to name stylization. I hated in previous generations when pokemon names were all in caps. "Bulbasaur" looks so much better than "BULBASAUR". I realize you could change this in previous generations, but the change would be treated as a nickname, so when your "Bulbasaur" evolved into an Ivysaur, it's name remained "Bulbasaur".
Oh, yes, the elimination of ALLCAPS species names. I wish they would extend that to Mons imported from previous Gens, because it really makes them look out of place. All legendaries that I plan to import forward I've taken that step manually, but....
I also agree that, while it's not something introduced in G5, G5's GTS continues to be haunted by the exact same problems the G4 GTS had. Negotiations trading provided an adequate alternative, but we need better. Better communication in Negotiations-type trades (the set of emoticons is a moot point for local trades where you can physically talk to the other person, but globally? As if!), and actual, enforced RULES for the regular seek/deposit system. And, wishful thinking, an "appraise" type system (reverse search) to rank searches by relevance (i.e. whether you can actually trade for it here and now).
To be honest I think gen five was the best generation. It was good enough for me to get all four games no generation before that did that.
Most and greatest Pokemon of any gen hands down on the low end we have cool pokes like. Swoobat Bisharp Electross and Scoolipede LOW END
Lack of poison damage. Either way you're gonna rush to the center so it was a great move to have us not suffer the indicator every 3 steps
I know I'm gonna catch flak for this but I LOVED the only gen 5 pokemon thing. It force them to make tons and tons of awesome pokemon and it force us and the NPC to adobt new pokemon
N and team plasma
The elite four they are all young attractive and incredibly cool and I know many of you were disappointed by the four pokemon thing but it was one fight and you got the incredibly hard Ghetsis fight after so what's your trip. Not to mention it was actually fun for me to work up to fighting them again with the ludicrous post game
The Docters and Nurse Save me time and that's a better experience then some stamina challenge
The PWT totally eliminated the need for "Pokemon rainbow" or whatever you want to call it
What I disliked
The champions not nearly as cool as the elite four. Alders power isn't everything bullshit pissed me off. Yeah it's meaningless except for: self esteem, financial security, safety of you and your loved ones and fun. Yeah totally meaningless. I'm biased about Iris cause her anime portrayal sucked but why couldn't they get a tall young adult character
Hugh. I hate Hugh he's more concerned with a task that should be impossible then stopping Team plasma
The lackluster Team Plasma in BW2
The Dream world it's so slow and luck based I went on there daily and even after the 10000 I couldn't a vulpix all the mouse based game were hard on a laptop and I have dysgraphia so it wasn't my best memories.

Liked (no, loved) the auto-repel feature. Also the PWT, animated sprites, unlimited TMs, Join Avenue, etc. I could go on for a while as V was my favorite generation so far.
I have a lot less dislikes specifically introduced in V. Negotiations was implemented...oddly. It's a neat idea that I hope they improve on for VI.
I also agree that the Dream World is just unfun. I hope we have a more direct way of getting Pokemon with hidden abilities.
Hidden grottoes is a great idea that should be expanded upon.
You can use an item several times without going back to the menu (less bad programming).
More animations in battles.
The Join Avenue and all the EV boost items and level up items (though sad that level up items should replace the chance to train your Pokemon instead).
No overworld Pokemon walking with you.
The grass is back to simple patches rather than continuous grass.
Sound effects when walking were removed.
Captain Lincoln Stern, you stand here accused of...
12 counts of murder in the first degree
14 counts of armed theft of Federation property
22 counts of piracy in high space
18 counts of fraud
37 counts of rape
and 1 moving violation....how do you plead?
First ever post on this site so I'd best make it a good one.
I loved the fact they invented challenge mode, but at the same time, disliked the fact you needed a friend who had already beaten the game (or an action replay ;) ) to use it.
I liked the idea of 2 main rivals, but again wish they were tougher, also end this weird scenario like we had in Gen 3, where 1 rival is a bit rubbish really and not a challenge.
I loved the sequels and the twist at the end of BW and BW2 involving the league champion (or lack of in BW)
And I actually liked being limited to only Gen 5 pokemon to start, I think it should always be this way. Explore the new region, and all the new inhabitants, then once you've beaten the game, then you can start going back to the same old mons you use in every game.
One of my gripes with Negotiations trades is once you've selected your three Pokemon and hit the Confirm button, you are first asked "are you okay with your selection?" and THEN "Is it OK to pick one of these three?" (only then is it actually confirmed to the other player). Why do you need TWO confirmations before you can proceed to picking one of the three?
One problem I have is the music. It wasn't very memorable, in my opinion. Well, except for Village Bridge, but that's about it. You also couldn't walk with your Pokemon, which was a big downer for me when I first picked up the game. I hate the GTS, everyone wants a level 10 and under Zekrom or Reshiram. Musicals really suck too.
However, on the good side, I love the bag system. You could easily sort your things. Despite it being minor, I really like how you could walk that old lady's Mienfoo. It was the closest I got to walking my Pokemon. Some of the Pokemon just look weird, but Zekrom is just epic! Those 3D scenes were pretty awesome too! Gen. V had the best storyline out of all the Generations.
