We also have Tyrannitar and Hydreigon in these games, so that's a lot of pseudo-legendaries to fill in at the end.

I just remembered that the trio in D/P/Pt were given a larger role in Platinum, with the pixies helping in the Distortion World (I can't remember exact details it's been nearly two year since I played through the story). So I wonder if the musketeers are in the opening of the game because their roles are going to tie in with the main plot, somehow? (Or is that a given?)
With the Muskedeers playing a large role in the upcoming movie and appearing the game's intro, I think it would be safe to assume they may have some importance to the story of BW2. Similar to how the Lake Trio's role in the story was expanded in Pt from DP, like the above user suggested.
While the Lake Trio were still relevant to DP's story, the Musketeer trio didn't have anything at all to do with BW's plot. But yeah, given their appearances in the game's opening, I wouldn't doubt an expanded role for them.

I've noticed something. It seems to be Pokemon that are either ice type, fire type, or already live in Unova that migrate.
It seems as though the cold has brought icy Pokemon over, challenger's cave disappearing has caused Riolu to leave, and the fire Pokemon naturally want to melt the ice.
When more old Pokemon are revealed for the Pokedex, my theory may either be totally mute, or totally right.
I never paid attention to images of shining Reshiram/Zekrom until now... I don't know if anyone else noticed but the secondary colors seem to have some significance.
Reshiram's regular overdrive is RED Zekrom's is BLUE
Shining Reshiram's secondary color is YELLOW and Zekrom's is GREEN
I'm assuming this means that Shining B/W Kyurem's colors will match!
That is a great idea, I would like an event Pokémon like Darkrai to be avaliable and getting into a fight with Cresselia would be a great way to incorporate them. Maybe a character could give a Manaphy egg or you could win it on the Battle Subway.
Thanks to Black Kyurem for the awesome avatar. Check him out!

Did you notice Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem's eye colors? They've always been red, blue and yellow... Those three colors like to pop up a lot, huh?
BTW, is there some kind of cultural thing about red-eyed black dragons and blue-eyed white dragons in japan? Yu-Gi-Oh has that pair as well, although in that it's the white dragon who's lightning-oriented and vice versa.
It's because those three are the three primary colours.

I meant in respect to Pokemon games, but yeah, that is the base of it. (Get it? Base? Primary? Oh, wow, I need sleep...)
Smogon: 'Nuff said.
With the new forms of the Kami Trio revealed, can anyone think of any theme or motif in mythology or otherwise which can explain their changes.
For those who don't know the form changes are:
Tornadus: large bird with strong legs; appears as if it would stand like an upright biped rather than a bird; its cloud is at the base of its tail
Thundurus: biped with a big upper body and arms compared to its darker legs; each forearm is covered in clouds and its tail is completely different from its original tail
Landorus: quadruped with claws; a little reminiscent of Raikou in face and posture; has a cloud on the sole of each paw
