Future White 2 Team (Gustavo)
I never ditch my starter. D8 My in-game team ALWAYS has 3 archetypes: Starter, Flyer, Surfer, and 3 other Pokemon. To me, getting rid of your starter is just mean. S/He started a journey with you, to go change the world and put your name into history! That's like leaving a kitten in a cardboard box. ...not really, but that's how I feel about ditching starters.
Signature is a WIP for the moment.
For now, I have claimed: Mewtwo, Member's Card, Wide Lens, Honey Gather, and Psystrike.
I benched Feraligatr in SS. I think that was the only starter I've played that I didn't like.
Female Natu with Magic Bounce
I've only replaced my starter once. I always use my starter, but when I got Platinum (because I already had Diamond), I wanted to do something different with my team, so I traded out my Torterra for Lucario. I considered it for B2/W2 but since these are not just 3rd version remakes, I'll probably just use either Snivy or Tepig since I used Oshawott in Black.

I know I'm going to in B/W2 because I already have the three from B/W
- In blue the starter is really important for team so I only did this in yellow.
As soon as I got my Magneton Pikachu ended up useless and I got rid of it once.
- Nuh-uh. I like my Totodile thank you.
- ...Kiddin' me? My whole team was effective only because of my Swampert.
- Nope, but I did rampage the whole platinum with only Infernape and Gyarados...Good times.
- My White? No. My black? Ooooooh yeah.
Ever since I bought the black I always used an AR ro catch some other pokemon as my starter and left my original starter in PC.
So far I've been doing this with Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Elekid, Torchic, Smoochum, Clefairy, Teddiursa, Sneasel, Chimchar, Starly, Vulpix, Deino, Rufflet, Golett...The list goes on.
Yes, I have.
My first game was gold, and on my first playthrough I started with a Totodile. I knew nothing of Pokemon games and when I found out about the PC I only vaguely knew how it worked. I deposited my Totodile as a test, and then I wanted to take it out... I was too young to equate "Withdraw" with anything but the move, and I saw release... yeah. After that traumatic experience I stuck with the only other Pokemon I had at the time (a Hoot-Hoot) as my replacement starter.
As for intentional times, when I played Emerald instead of using the starters I traded over some Pokemon bred on a friend's game: Cyndaquil, Dratini, etc.
And in Pearl I didn't really like any of the starters, so I chose Piplup because it was cute and then eventually benched it once it became Empoleon. And now I actually like Empoleon and regret not using it properly, but I'm in Platinum at the moment using Infernape and I love him to bits. Maybe I'll use Empoleon on my second run of Platinum.
Starters of choice.
Claimed Volcarona on 03/04/12.
No nor I have any plans to do so
I did once - in my second play of White. I don't really like Emboar's design to be entirely honest, although it has grown on me a little more since. I think keeping it just because you feel bad for the idea of giving it up isn't the right thing to do, but I do make an effort to use it if there isn't a better Pokémon around. I always tend to go with the fire starter anyway, so it usually takes a while to find something better and by that point I end up attached.
I've ditched Pikachu countless times in various playthroughs of Yellow. I tend to get to Misty's gym, and then shortly after I generally box it. Other than that, no I don't. Starters usually have a place on my team
At times I have. Sometimes they just don't cut it, you know? The Water ones in particular are too slow for my liking. And Meganium, because you're better off in-game with straight-out attackers instead of tanks.
Every single time I play any of the Kanto games and don't pick Bulbasaur. The other two starters have never appealed to me once they evolve past their base form, so I just use them as a crutch until I can get something better.
Once, with Chikorita. I hated that piece of crap.
Crack some heads for me, darlings. Thank you, and good night.
