Thread: Gym Leader/Elite 4/Champion Discussion

The title says it all, I'm trying to beat Cheren and his stupid Lillipup dominates on me! Here is my current team:

Level 11 Snivy
Level 11 Seel
Level 10 Riolu
Level 8 Mareep
Level 4 Purrlion (I don't use this at all)

Any suggestions? And has anyone else have a problem beating Cheren? Or is it just me? LOL[/SIZE]

Level up that Riolu a bit more. That should do it.

I figured that would do the trick haha I probably am gunna get him up to lvl 15 so he can learn force palm

wow, you can get Riolu that early? Sweet. I can't wait for the European release date tomorrow.
It's weird, normally I'm all for spoilers, yet once the english version is out in America I avoid them like the plague till I get my hands on it myself.

^ This. It was my Riolu who got the win against Cheren--that Lillipup was a bit stronger than I had imagined. My poor Oshawott just couldn't handle it.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised about that myself. Get one ASAP; it is a huge help.

To be honest, I hadn't known you could get Riolu that early either, especially since I have yet to actually encounter one. :/

So I faced Cheren with nothing but a lv. 12 Snivy and a lv. 11 Psyduck. I only won the first time around because Snivy got lucky and got two critical hits on that Lillipup, one before Cheren used a potion on it and one after. So I really feel bad for poor Cheren. That kind of luck on his first battle as gym leader? Yeah... ._.

I agree that Lillipup was stronger than I had expected as well. I haven't played since the last time I lost, but now I will level up my Riolu and try and kick Cheren's butt!

And don't you just hate when you're about to win the battle and the gym leader decides to use a potion? That's how I felt with Cheren, was sooo close to winning -___-

Sometimes I do. Other times I don't mind it because it adds to the challenge.

Don't feel too bad, I lost to him 6 times total. :| 4 times in the Japanese version, and 2 times in the US version. I had a 3-level advantage over him in my US game, still got utterly curb-stomped. The second defeat was because he got a critical hit. OTL You don't even want to know what happened in Japan.

What happened? I want to know the details :3 lol

Attach some Berries. I saved mine for the battle with Cheren but forgot to put them on. I still beat him in one try though.

Level grind everybody on your team at at least 11. It took all six of the Pokemon I had on hand to beat his two.

Who was in your party UnovaCastaway??

I had a Snivy, Mareep, Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, and Psyduck at that point I think.
