Love Iris as champion, it works very well. And the name 'Roxie' is divine.

So, I went onto Bulbapedia to check about the current League. I saw that Alder was in Sangi... and he was weaker.
Then, I check to see who was the new Champion. Thinking that it would be Hilbert/Hilda, I'm all giddy. And then I see...
That... surprised me. Finally, after seeing she had my favorite Pokemon, a Salamence, on there; I was very impressed. But then comes the bad part.
A Dragon Leader? With a Water and Rock/Flying-type? I thought Lance had that covered. But then, I saw her levels...
So... I guess it'll be a pro-con thing.
PROS
- She has high levels.
- Her Pokemon are diverse
CONS
- Her team is a bit... predictable.
- Lance has covered this ground.
However, that's just my opinion. What do you all think? Is Iris fit?
Her team would be more predictable being all dragon.
Too much British television makes this sentence not right. Is Iris fit?
I'll keep the grammar fixing at bay for now.
As for the OP, no. I do NOT like her being the Champion, especially with there being another Dragon-type user as a Gym Leader. It would have made a lot more sense to either make Hilbert or Hilda the Champion, or maybe someone like Marshal. Or heck, maybe Alder's grandson. But Iris? Ugh. Just another Dragon user that EVERYONE will be able to sweep with a strong Ice-type.
To be honest I'm totally indifferent. As long as she's challenging then I can't complain.
I do, however, still wish that Hilda/Hilbert had received some limelight. Game Freak acts as if s/he didn't save the world but two years prior.
Seriously? She dons a dress and crown just for battle? How pretentious. I don't care if she's still being childish.
And another Dragon user. Boring.

Aggron, Lapras, and Archeops are there for that reason.Just another Dragon user that EVERYONE will be able to sweep with a strong Ice-type.
But yeah, it doesn't bother me too much...I'm a fan of Iris (anime one, the game one lacks the main thing I like about Iris anime, which is the whole "kodomo ne" stuff and such), so seeing her the champ in the game is cool.

Archeops is still killed by ice, but Lucario sweeps her team better anyway
I don't know why people are saying "ice types" when all her dragons in normal mode only has a x2 weakness to ice.
Lucario's Aura Sphere covers Hydreigon, Aggron, Lapras. Dragon Pulse for Haxorus and Druddigon, and Archeops is hit neutral by Aura Sphere.
It really is weird that Iris is shown in Castelia city with normal clothes, but then she puts on this getup for her champion battle. I think there was an Iris fanboy on board when they were designing this.
On another note:
I still don't get why people would want what is essentially Alder's spin-offspring to be his carbon-copy and become the champion. Banjirou has a Volcarona too. His role as the Area 10 leader of the Black Skyscraper/White Woodland is much more interesting than simply being a champion.
Then at least they should have made Hilbert/Hilda the Champion, especially if the games are direct sequels to BW. Having Iris as the Champion just invalidates your rise to the position in BW.
A lot of wasted potential here, sadly.
I'm quite glad H/H weren't the champion. THAT would have been an unoriginal thing to do. It's certainly a nice surprise.
Signature is a WIP for the moment.
For now, I have claimed: Mewtwo, Member's Card, Wide Lens, Honey Gather, and Psystrike.
I find it to be an interesting development in the games. Her gym leader title says "The Girl Who Knows the Hearts of Dragons" so maybe it has something to do with that. We don't know anything that happened in the past two years on the game. Iris was only a gym leader in white version, and while strong, she was also young and learning from Drayden. It's only right for her to surpass him. What I find disappointing is while Lance is a dragon champion before, and now Iris is, neither use a full team of pokemon that are dragon types.
"I'm coming like a wyvern in heat."
That's a very good point. Though, I am vexed by one thing.
Why is it that it took until the sequel to bring Hydreigon into the League? I guess this is just the Dragon-lover in me, but I find it weird.
Four Trainers have an Eelektross.
About five have a Bouffalant.
Countless have a Bisharp.
Krookodile... nuff said.
Scrafty was everywhere.
But only Ghetsis had a Hydreigon. I would've expected Grimsley to have one.
